Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely stay here, it’s a lovely hotel, in a great location for exploring Skipton, staff were great, and it’s very dog friendly. Food was really good, both breakfast and evening dinner. On site car parking (free) is also a bid bonus. We had a great short break. Many thanks.

Just returned from another great stay, we’ve stayed here a handful of times and never been disappointed. This time, we were given a room at Herriots House. Lovely modern room, very quiet and comfy bed! Breakfast had a great breakfast selection and friendly staff. Dine on the first night, food was very good and better than our other stays. Can’t wait to return again.

A fantastic hotel which I use for business stays. Well connected with supermarkets and transport. Parking on site. You couldn’t have a better location. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The beds are very comfortable and like the homely feel to the place. Will return again soon. Thanks to all for always looking after me.

If your plan is to get a good nights sleep, find another hotel in the area. I stayed here a night before a day of important work meetings and I never slept a wink. Every 20/30 minutes a loud fan would kick in, it was so loud it woke me up every time it kicked in which meant I had one of the worst nights sleep ever. I am heading back to Skipton next month, I’ll certainly not be staying here again, I’d rather sleep in my car. Shower wasn’t great, it took a while for it to run warm and it wasn’t powerful at all. Restaurant was nice, full English breakfast. Room was clean.

We went for a last min Mother’s Day lunch, we were fitted in despite the restaurant being busy and we had the loveliest meal, the food was outstanding, the service was faultless. We will be back, especially for the afternoon tea we saw one going to another table and it looked delicious. Thank you for a lovely meal, we look forward to returning.

We stayed overnight and enjoyed a very nice evening meal and full Yorkshire breakfast. The room was fine , with a very good shower/wetroom. The hotel is also remarkably conveniently situated for the railway station, town centre and pleasant walking along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. However , the most notable feature of our stay was the care and courtesy of the staff. Everrything was done promptly and with a smile. When I cut my finger quite badly, the bleeding wound was cleaned and expertly dressed by the manager. We would certainly like to stay again.

Another lovely nights stay at Herriots hotel. We try to come over at least once a year and again were not disappointed. The hotel location is fantastic, we come on the train and it’s literally across the road. We had a room that faced onto the canal and that was great, comfortable, warm and very clean. There are a good selection of drinks in the room and refills available in the bar area which is good. The breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice, well cooked and presented. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We’ll definitely be back. We didn’t eat in the restaurant although the menu and food looked great. If you do eat out, give Le Caveau a try, it’s on the High Street. You have to book well in advance but it’s well worth it, delicious food and not too pricey.

We spent 3 nights here on a Christmas special package. Everything was very well organised and the food was delicious. Christmas Day lunch was 5 courses but were well spread out over a period of time. Also included in the package was a Christmas Eve meal and Boxing Day lunch which were also excellent. Our room was on the second floor, the Swan's Nest, it was very comfortable with everything we needed. The bathroom had a large bath with a shower over it, we would have preferred a shower cubicle but that is just a personal thing, although it may make a difference to some. The staff were all very good, very helpful and friendly. There is a private car-park attached to the hotel which is a big plus, and the hotel is situated a pleasant walk along the canal into the town with it's many shops and pubs. This was our third stay at the hotel and would certainly recommend it.
