My partner and I discovered this gem last week and returned this week for another meal.
We are Keto and the Lovely lady serving us was more than happy to adapt the meal we wanted so it didn‘t include food we couldn’t eat.
We had the steak, eggs and salad. Steak was cooked perfectly and it’s huge!
Great friendly service, delicious food with a good selection on the menu for you non-keto eaters and a clean spacious restaurant space.
We will be back next week!

This place is fabulous. We were welcomed by the host who showed us to our room which was very spacious and warm. It had a nice seating area where you could watch TV. In the bathroom there was a shower over a spa bath. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet.
In the evening we enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant downstairs. All in all it was an excellent place to stay and great value for money - we would definitely recommend this place to others.

Great service, clean comfortable, spacious rooms.. lovely spa bath. Soooo nice to have doors opening onto a balcony. Parking is off street and felt safe. Great location for wandering to the beach and other food places etc. Easy to get to and close to main road. Trains ran very close and often. Trains and barrier arms were very quiet during the night. Overall, I loved this place.

We were leaving Paekakariki stattion at 6am on a scenic train ride so this place was so convenient, being right next door to the train station. The staff were very friendly and showed us the gate we could go out as a short cut to the train station. Room was HUGE and warm and had a comfy bed and a great shower which are the two things I rate accommodation providers on. Was grateful to be able to get off the train at 9.30 pm and make a dash through the driving rain to our warm room. Will stay here again.

Food and drink were nice, but the service was terrible. Locals were all served before us at the bar, as tourists we were ignored. Waited 20 minutes on a desert menu before giving up. The restaurant wasn’t even busy; only 1/4 of tables were full.

We stopped here for a late lunch on our travel south between Napier and Wellington. Excellent fish and chips. Very clean inside and helpful staff. Sadly we didn't stay in the hotel as we had booked inot a hotel in Wellington.

Have been here a few times in the past and has been great. Seen this place is now under new management and the quality has definitely deteriorated.
Chicken was tough and stringy and the fish burger was just average.
Our mains came out while we were still eating our shared entree. Won’t be going back.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and was delighted. Large modern, comfortable room with spa bath and kitchenette. Kevin and Nancy were friendly and helpful hosts. Good bar and restaurant downstairs. Can recommend unreservedly.

Great place to stay. Lovely room with comfy bed and spa bath. The restaurant is fabulous. We had a pork belly and steak which were excellent. Weren't expecting such good quality food. Great stop if catching a ferry the next morning or coming off. Lovely hosts who had time to chat. Recommend

We were looking for an overnight stop before catching the ferry to South Island so arrived here by accident.

This proved to be a pleasant surprise. Rooms were newly fitted out, large and spacious, ensuit was well equipped with a large spar type bath. There was a good sized balcony to the room where you could sit out.
At $135 it was money well spent.

Although the railway line runs next to the motel, it never disturbed us. The bells on the crossing were turned off at night.

There is a bar and restaurant on the ground floor.

Car parking is at the rear and secured by an electric gate.

The upstairs was served by a decent sized lift from the car park.

We enjoyed walking along the beach after dinner, which was not far away.

Paekakariki is Mauri for perching parrot, or so I was told.
