At a few minutes of the Poitevin Marsh, at the end of a small village between Poitevin Marsh, La Rochelle, Futuroscope and "Puy du Fou", old farm restored. Five pleasant rooms with privated toilets, labellized "Gîtes de France" 3 ears. Rest, haven of peace. Meals are shared in family and all user-friendliness (traditional meals and regional specialities made from the products on our garden).A quelques minutes du Marais Poitevin, Josette et Didier vous accueillent dans cinq chambres d'hôtes labellisées Gîte de France 3 épis dans une ancienne restaurée, en pleine campagne au bout d'un hameau entre La Rochelle, Futuroscope et "Puy du Fou". First of all -- we really loved Josette and Didier, who are quiet, witty, sweet folks with a twinkle in their eyes. Our rooms were great-- simple and lovely-- and of course we ate dinner here every night. Long table, with travelers from France, Belgium, Netherlands-- and a long evening, from aperitifs to desserts. Didier really is a wonderful cook. He makes the wine! Most of the fruits and vegetables come from the garden. Our somewhat unusual dietetic quirks were graciously accommodated. I hope for a chance to return in the future!

We stayed with Josette and Didier during our travels. From a welcoming drink through to our good-byes we were looked after magnificently. If you stay, make sure you book the evening meal. Didier's table is to be envied - particularly his cheese platter! Rooms are comfortable and clean. The village is well worth a stroll around.

This is our third or fourth visit. It would have been more except they are often fully booked. Impeccably clean, superb evening meal and amazing breakfast. Just how a French B and B should be - dining outside around a table of ten, multiple nationalities and lots of discussion about current events.

My wife and I are surprised at the very high ratings for this bed and breakfast. While the farmhouse and gardens are certainly lovely, our room lacked the homely touch: there were no paintings or ornaments, it was inadequately lit (a broken standard lamp stayed that way despite complaint), the wifi signal was non-existent and there was no television. On a more positive note, the bed was firm, the bathroom good and the breakfast delicious (a pity the owners hardly speak any English). In our opinion, though, the owners will have to make quite a few changes to merit others' inexplicably positive evaluation.

We have just returned from our second stay at this wonderful Chambres D'hotes. Josette and Didier welcome their guests to their lovely home, a stone farmhouse in a tiny hamlet deep in the French countryside near Niort, roughly mid way between Poitiers and La Rochelle.
Expect quiet relaxation (no TV - we didn't miss it at all); friendly, typical French atmosphere; spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated rooms and brilliant food. We agree with Robert B that the evening meal is a must. Much of the produce is home grown and chef Didier is masterful in his preparation and presentation.
Meals are taken at one long table, so guests can converse together and with Didier and Josette who join with their guests at dinner. Even if you don't speak a great deal of French (which we don't) it is still possible to enjoy the company and humour.
Although this is an area of France largely unspoilt by excessive commerce - sightings of American fast food outlets and takeaways are rare - there are many local attractions for couples and families and catering for all tastes, such as the amazing Planete Futuroscope at Poitiers, Marais Poitevin, La Rochelle, Ile de Re, the lovely west coast beaches and there is also a free local leisure park with amenities, swimming lake, sandy beach, grassy slopes and children's playground.
This Chambres D'hotes is within very easy reach of the A10 autoroute and directions are given on the website along with prices and photos.
