Nestled in a tranquil, picturesque setting with convenient beach access, Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak has won over guests with its clean, comfortable, and well-maintained rooms. While some visitors mention a scarcity of certain in-room amenities, many have been charmed by luxurious features and select rooms with pool access. The hotel's professional service, particularly in the spa, receives high marks for friendliness and attention to detail. However, opinions on value show a divide, with some guests commending the food and spa deals, while others point out restrictions and higher restaurant prices. Overall, the peaceful atmosphere and modern yet culturally rich design contribute to the hotel's appeal, despite some limitations in dining options and pool facilities.

We just landed back home after 9 nights at the Grand MERCURE. We had a wonderful time. We stayed with our 7 year old daughter and her grandparents in 2 Pool Access Rooms. Which I would highly recommend.
We did spend time at the beach pool as well and in the warm ocean.
Everyone at the resort was so friendly and helpful. In the restaurants especially Joey and Pam stood out.
Joey is very professional and also spoke German and English which was great for my parents. He always made us feel welcome, greeted everyone with a smile and had a friendly chat.
He remembered all orders with ease and always went the extra mile.
Pam also always made sure my daughter had vegetarian food at breakfast and always remembered her.
The breakfast buffet was delicious and had many options. I joined the beach stretch and yoga a few times during our stay and both instructors were very lovely as well. The location of the hotel is on a large beautiful beach, very relaxing for kids, couples and families.
The rooms very always clean and the roommaids were fantastic. We enjoyed the large bathroom that our room had.
4101 my parents stayed next door and their bathroom had a different layout , no bathtub. My daughter did use the bathtub a few times so if your kids love having a bath it might be checking which rooms have a tub. The whole design/landscaping of this resort is fabulous as you can see in the resort photos. I highly recommend booking a pool access room if you like to swim a lot. Only the pool access rooms get to use the long swimming pools. The whole resort is a great size and very walkable and easy to navigate. The gym is nicely kept with good quality equipment. We enjoyed a massage at the spa. We miss the Gran MERCURE already. Monday nights we had live music, which was really great quality.
An acoustic guitarist the first time and a 2piece band guitar and singer the second time. They really bring a great atmosphere. Bow & May the musicians really understand how to entertain and all the kids love them. Thank you for a great stay. We hope to be back one day.

The hotel is outside of Khao Lak and is in a quiet location. There are about 4 restaurants on the beach that serve western and Thai food. Definitely not the best food. If you want to go to the village you have to pay 400 baht each way for a taxi, which we found to be above averagely expensive. You don't have to try to negotiate.
The hotel itself is very good in terms of service. The reception is warm and we were able to move into our room at 1:00 p.m. You have to be careful when choosing your room. We traveled as a couple and wanted peace and relaxation. Luckily we booked a room with pool access. These pools are cut off from the main pool and only guests (mainly couples) with these rooms can use it. The main pool is always very busy and the loungers on the beach are usually already occupied by midday (especially those with umbrellas). It is not adults-only, which means there are a lot of children in the hotel. The main pool area is therefore usually rather loud and hectic, but this was not a problem for us because of our room. If you want peace and quiet, you should definitely book a swim-up room. We never went to the main pool. The breakfast was very balanced and offered something for every taste. The beach is beautiful and the sea is great. The prices for food are obviously higher than outside the hotel, but not too high. The staff are extremely polite and accommodating. On the day of departure, free shower rooms are available for guests who are leaving in the late afternoon/evening and do not have a late check-out. We can say: We would have liked to have stayed longer, which is a good sign ;)

Excellent hotel about 1.5 hours by car from the airport.
1. Very green, really cool, well-groomed, fresh. Cool pool system. At the room or directly from the room + main
2. And most importantly - the sea.
- Your own clean sandy beach is right next to the hotel, you don’t have to go anywhere
- Convenient entry
- The sea goes nowhere when the tide goes out
- About 10 km coastline. For walks along the coast: magical.
3.The hotel is quiet! This is a huge plus for us. No animation, parties, children's slides. There are many guests with children.
4. The room is standard for 5*. Everything is there, cleaned every day, WiFi is stable, you don’t need to bring an adapter - both 3- and 2-pin sockets work
5. The gym is small, but ok for relaxation. The spa is adequately priced for 5*, massages range from 990 baht for an oil massage to 3500 (on the beach from 400 for a simple one), they do it well.
6. At breakfast everything is as usual: Swedish and a lot of other things (not amazing, but more than enough). Those who have it included in their stay have lunch and dinner on the menu, while there is a separate one for money.
The service is lousy: the wait is long and the taste characteristics are, well, not gourmet, but quite good. The cocktails are absolutely sad, they don’t even have the volume of alcohol, the non-alcoholic ones are also liquid, and in proportion to everything there is little taste.
7. Right there, 10 meters along the beach, there are a bunch of cafes. If at a hotel a menu without alcohol costs about 3,000 baht, then it’s about 2,000
8. The bar by the pool also loses a lot of money because getting a drink is for the patient: one bartender and he’ll be torn apart. But on the beach there’s a wonderful little bar where it’s much faster and tastier.
9. On the other side of the territory there are also many cafes, shops, taxis and exchange offices nearby

We rested with my wife from the second week of April for 10 nights. I was very pleased with the hotel with its unforgettable atmosphere and was definitely added to the list of hotels to which you can and should return. There is no entertainment outside the hotel; upon exiting, if you turn right, there are two exchange offices, a store and a taxi, you can change currency in the one closer to the store (the exchange rate is always a little better than in the one closer to the hotel). The store itself has everything you need. The price is probably more expensive than 7evelen, since it’s the only one there.

Deposit - $300 does not have to be paid, I assured the reception that it would be more convenient for me to pay in a restaurant or bar on site than to take it from the deposit.

Territory: well-groomed, green, clean, quite large, it’s a pity that you can walk on the sides of the rooms along a beautiful living fence. Birds are constantly singing, you feel unity with nature, very cool.

Staff: polite, efficient, speaks good English, no problems. When you call from the room, they respond instantly; within 5 minutes, everything you ask for is brought or done.

Room: they gave us a room with a large bathroom and two sinks, the room is large and spacious, the only downside is that you can’t really turn on the air conditioning at night, since it blows directly into the bed, so much so that it blows even at minimum. Also, from behind the bath you can hear the street very well, especially the birds in the morning). There were 2 bottles of water per day in the room, we immediately asked for 5 more and they were replenished until the end of the vacation without a reminder.

Sea and beach: the best beach among the nearby hotels (Graceland and La Meridien), in the sea near our hotel there were always few people, few stones and corals. Nothing spoils the view. If you compare it with its neighbors, there are too many people in Graceland, you will have to leave the hotel to swim, but in La Meridien there are a lot of corals and the beach itself is terrible with a concrete barrier.

Food: we only took breakfast and did not regret it. The breakfast is amazing, everyone will find something to eat, I especially recommend the pancakes, I have never eaten the best anywhere. There are restaurants near the hotel, we had lunch and dinner there, cheaper than at the hotel. But after a good breakfast we only had lunch or only dinner.

We especially recommend getting a massage at the hotel, 990 Baht per person, it’s worth it.
On the beach nearby they do it for 400 Baht, but they don’t change the sheet after each person and don’t change the towel they use for rubbing, we’ve seen this many times.

We've had two wonderful weeks at this hotel. A very quiet relaxation hotel. A deposit of $200 was taken upon arrival. The area is very beautiful, flowering garden with different plants and pond with ornamentals and fish. The staff is very friendly. Everyone says hello, smiles-- that's nice! There are rooms with access to their pool, but it turns out that the pool is for several rooms. And you can swim in from the next room, and if the roommates are with the kids, that's plus squealing, splashing. Other rooms with access to an artificial body of water. Rooms on the second floor with general view of the swimming pool and garden with water body. Rooms are spacious, have bathrobes, umbrellas, flashlight, hairdryer. All bath accessories (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrushes) in general everything you need. Good quality pastel linen and towels. The network's not on TV. The air conditioning works well, but it blows right into your head when you get on the bed and there's nothing you can do about it.
The pool is clean. Towels are handed out on the beach by the pool.
The beach is clear, but there are some corals and pebbles. There were plenty of sunbeds, but there were still those who had occupied the sunbeds from the early hours of the morning and had gone swimming in the pool. It was very infuriating. The sea entrance is good, but there's still a place where you can feel the coral. A lot of people might not like it, I suggest you take the crusts. The sea itself is warm, clean. Yes, there are jellyfish and there's a warning on the beach to be careful. Guards in case of a jellyfish bite have dilute vinegar, with which they immediately treat the site affected. Just don't wash with running water.
Breakfasts are indeed a little monotonous, but you won't stay hungry. Eggs in different versions, the drink is monotonous and not very tasty.
In general, we were very pleased with the hotel.

Stayed here all inclusive for two weeks in December.
The grounds are stunning and very well maintained by warm and friendly grounds people.
The pool can be relaxing when kids are not running up and down the shallow centre. It could also be better maintained, there was a lot of bits on the bottom of the pool which were there for a number of days. The pool bar has a reasonably good stock of beverages with friendly staff.
The beach is stunning.
The water was warm but cloudy due to strong waves that also made getting in and out difficult due to sharp coral underfoot.
As mentioned in other reviews there is no where near enough sun beds. Although the hotel says it will remove any towels reserving beds before 9am this definitely doesn’t happen.
If you haven’t reserved a sun bed very early you will find it difficult.
We upgraded to a deluxe room which was extremely well maintained every day. On a negative the room lacked a light, mirror and socket for ladies. This was the only negative of the room which had a wonderful outlook and comfortable bed.
The hotel advertising say there are three bars. There’s one, the pool bar which closes at 7pm. You cannot call the drinks area within Mango’s restaurant a bar. They make it very clear they don’t want you to stand there or sit as there are no chairs. The Patio restaurant was only open for a buffet breakfast, the bar there was never open.
Although we paid an extra £1700 to be all inclusive this was a very bad move.
We were given a different menu from “paying” guests which was very limited with, in my opinion, poor quality ingredients. You also were not given the option of looking at the paying menu. Trying to get the waiting staff’s attention became almost a game.
It’s clear the senior management have instructed the waiting staff to try and limit the all inclusive offering.
28 meals from the same menu at a so called 4 star hotel is not acceptable.
Thankfully we were able to eat along the beach on a number of occasions with a better choice of food and quality.
I believe I saw the manager a tall gentleman walking around the resort on a number of occasions who interacted a lot with his team.
Not once did I see him even glance at the guests, let alone engage, to me this says everything about this hotel.

The hotel has its own beach, but it is inconvenient for children, as the stones in the sea are slippery. There are few sun loungers, with a large load of people. There are usually no seats near the pool quickly. There is a children's pool and a small games room. Near the hotel there are mini shops, cafes, hairdressers, massage parlors, exchangers. Breakfasts are the same. I am delighted with the pillows, they are of very good quality and therefore I slept well, my neck did not swell from osteochondrosis. They offer various trips (to the market, excursions) for an additional fee. The rooms are spacious and modern. They provide beach bags with towels for the beach immediately in the rooms👍. There are minicars available on site.

This hotel is an absolute dream! If you want a quiet and relaxing holiday, this is the place for you! About 75 minutes by car from Phuket airport, it is a little away from the tourist hotspot, i.e. quiet! This hotel is so beautifully laid out that it took our breath away; it is impressive how close to nature it has been built. We had a room with pool access, which was perfect for rainy days (in our 3 week stay there were 4-5 days of bad weather during the rainy season). The room was clean, large and well maintained and had all the important things. In general, the hotel was in a very clean and well maintained condition. The sandy beach was great and invited to take a walk. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating (especially Josh, Nam and Ben!); you could always talk to them and we were helped quickly and friendly with even the smallest problem. We felt extremely comfortable with them. The entire pool area is really beautifully laid out with lots of trees and bushes and is cleaned daily (if you complain about a few leaves here...). The loungers were no problem for us; we always got some. But there are perhaps a few at the pool, especially for the wedding in winter. The food was very tasty! The breakfast is very large and varied; you can always have lunch or dinner in the hotel's own restaurant (very tasty!) or in the surrounding bars (no rating, as we had all-inclusive and it wasn't worth it for us). But there was also a very tasty themed buffet once or twice a week. You can go on lots of excursions; you can either book on site or through the travel company (we did); it's worth it!
We can also only recommend the spa. There are various offers (also for couples), which are a bit more expensive than the surrounding offers, but the ambience is excellent and it is still much cheaper than in Germany. A lot of guests come from English-speaking areas (mainly Australians), but there are also many Europeans, Chinese and Thais.
In conclusion: a really great hotel for our quiet holiday, which we will definitely visit again!

we spent 2 weeks here in a deluxe pool access room, beautifully designed hotel, very lush and green. Room was outstanding although I would have liked a proper bedside table with a drawer! Also the tiles in shower could be a little slippery and I also would have liked a handrail to get down steps into the pool and also the main pool a handrail would be useful especially for people with some mobility problems like myself.
It is a long walk from reception to beach but the porters drive you around in buggys which was a godsend for me. The porters were wonderful, Ede, Kune and the other young lad, so friendly and helpful. All the staff were friendly and helpful, a mention also for Don at the pool.
The bed was huge and so comfy, housekeepers always kept room spotless and well stocked and would also knock and call to see if we needed anything else.
Breakfast was in lovely surroundings, much the same as any hotel I've stayed in, plenty of choice for all palates.
Beachfront and plenty of local bars restaurants massage shops on beach in high season.
This is the first hotel I've been to that actually does stop people reserving beach beds before 9am, well done, I wish all hotels would do this.
Outside the front of the hotel are small local streets with businesses, supermarket, restaurants, massage, bar etc and I want to mention Ottos which is very basic but food excellent, we ate there 3 times.
Taxi down to Biang Niang was 400 baht for 4 people about £10, takes about 20-25 mins drive but you can visit market and more choice of restaurants etc, pharmacy.
I would definitley recommend this hotel.
We had a wonderful holiday.

We have just had 8 lovely relaxing days here, the facilities and hospitality are first class.
The staff are all lovely and make you feel very welcome.
We were in a garden room near the reception area with a nice pool just over a lovely plant adorned bridge .
We had breakfast in the Patio restaurant each morning, buffet style, a great variety, eat untill your heart was intent.
Dinner each night was at the Green Mango restaurant where you order from the menu, lovely food well presented, a cocktail each night was also part of the fantastic deal.
The Green Mango was at the main pool area which is beside the beach, so you are sitting looking at the ocean while having dinner.
A lovely setting, the only problem with that was that the weather at this time of the year is very hot and humid so a bit uncomfortable as being a open air restaurant there is no air conditioning and the few little fans didn’t help much.
The Patio for breakfast is air conditioned inside and also has outside dining so we found this the most pleasant meal of the day.
We think the Patio should be open of an evening too to give you a choice of dining venue depending on the weather.
One evening dinner was a special Thai theme with a fire show that was fantastic, this was held in the Green Mango.
Our room was very nice with a great bathroom, towels were changed every day and we were given abundant bottles of water each day.
The housekeeping staff were wonderfull, soo friendly and efficient.
The pools were great, we spent a lot of the day at them seeing it was very hot .
The whole place always looks terrific, the gardens are beautiful and the gardeners are always busy, they do a lovely job.
The place is a bit isolated, no big town to walk into just a small village which gives you the local experience.
A great beach out the front sets the place off.
We had a marvellous time there.
