This was a last minute and much needed get away for us. Friends of ours recommended Spring Wood Cottages Resort and I emailed them to see if they might be able to help us out. I dealt with Christine (one of the owners) and she was so nice and friendly, she responded to emails quickly and was very helpful and accommodating. When we got to our cabin, we were pleasantly surprised, it was chilly out and they thoughtfully had turned on the fireplace before we arrived so it was nice and warm inside. The cabins have everything you could need and then some. They are cute and cozy. They supplied fresh linens for the beds and towels too. Usually you need to bring those things yourself. We stayed in a water front cabin and the views were awesome, seen loads of wide life. We met Ed the other owner, he was very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the area and trails and things to do. They really do offer so much. If you are a water lover, they have a very nice clean beach. They also have peddle boats, canoes, kayaks, and pontoon boats. They have a great games room with a pool table, foosball table, shuffle board, basketball game, dart boards, and hundreds of board games. They have a movie shed with tons of DVD movies for all ages, more games and books too. They offer laundry facilities, a awesome large deck area where you can BBQ, sit around and relax. They have a well stocked store if you need anything. We were able to unplug and relax, it was just what we needed and we are so happy they were recommended to us. We also would highly recommend Springwood Cottage Resort as an awesome place to stay, we think it ticks all the boxes for a nice get away. Many thanks to Christine and Ed for setting us up for a great stay and for the hard work you do to offer people a great place to go and vacation, They really have done a great job.

Cheers.

The new owners have spared no effort in making sure Springwood Cottage Resort meets the needs of their guests. We had the most relaxing week away. You can tell they have put careful thought into what makes for a comfortable cottage stay for busy adults and fun times for kids. From the supervised children programs to comfortable mattresses, air conditioned cottages and on-site store (where you can conveniently run a tab during your stay), this place checked all the boxes. The owners are welcoming and friendly, the water clear and warm, and the activities fun if you choose to take advantage of them. We used kayaks and SUPs, paddle boat, floating mat and trampoline. Fishing, bonfires, outdoor game areas, clean cottages - you won't regret it!

We just arrived today from Springwood Cottages! We had a wonderful time there and I was actually sad to be checking out. Our family has created so many wonderful memories and we can’t wait to go back next year.
The cottage we were in was adorable and charming. The bathroom was spacious as were the rooms. All the exposed wood created a lovely country atmosphere.
My son caught his first fish and the fishing was amazing there each evening. The rental of rods was completely reasonable.
The beach was one of the best I’ve ever been to in Ontario. Children could frolic safely in the water. You can go quite far out and the water remains quite shallow and safe for those of us who aren’t the strongest swimmers. Also the water was warm!!! This was most welcome to someone such as myself who is always cold. The beach and lake definitely surpassed my expectations!
There is a communal fire pit where you could roast marshmellows or just observe the sunset.
One of my favourite activities was participating in a yoga class by the amazing instructor Jewel! She was compassionate, relaxing and engaging.
You will love this resort and your family will create so many joyful memories! I can’t wait to go next summer with my family again! So grateful that some stranger on Facebook recommended this resort to me when we were looking. Until next year!
Sincerely
Teresa and family:)

Upon booking we were told that we could check in and take occupancy at 3pm. At around 4pm the place still wasn’t ready. When I went to ask the owner how long it might be there was an immediate sense that I was bothering him. I asked “Any idea how much longer?” The reply was “Nope. Don’t have a crystal ball my friend.”. That was the very first encounter.
The pictures and description of the place were slightly misleading. While there were no lies in the listing it definitely appeared as though the cottage was right on the water. The description mentions a private beach and fire pit. There is a private beach and a fire pit, but it’s shared with dozens of other cottagers on the same resort.
The next encounter with the owner was while relaxing on the shared floating dock. An attempt to make small talk and be friendly was met with one word replies and no eye contact. Again, the vibe was as if trying to be courteous was an annoyance. The third encounter was when we rented a pontoon boat. He came down to the dock and asked us to choose the boat. I chose one boat and because this particular boat required 10 minutes of preparation he recommended a different one that looked much older and not nearly as comfortable. Being the people pleaser that I am I went with his recommendation. 90 minutes into being out on the lake the boat began to take on water like crazy. The family was terrified and we went back in to shore. When I reported this they blamed me for overloading the boat. According to the maximum capacity plate on the boat we were over 500 lbs underweight. Several attempts to appeal to their better nature were met with more flippant sarcasm and blame shifting over to us. They stonewalled us when we asked for a partial refund and had no interest in simply making the situation right.
To be completely fair, the place was clean, spacious, and grounds were well kept. However, pray that nothing goes wrong because you won’t get any help from the staff there. Stay away from the owner and by all means don’t ask him any questions or try to be friendly. He’s just not interested in being a friendly and courteous person.

New owners in 2021. Ed and Christine are great to deal with and very accommodating. Cottages are clean and comfortable, well stocked up-to-date. Nice beach, boat rentals and marina. Our cottage had a hot tub which was fabulous! We stayed for a weekend and will definitely go back. Already booked for a week in August and can’t wait! If you’re lucky enough to get a reservation it is well worth it. It would be absolutely beautiful in the fall.

We rented a cottage at August 2020. The owners run some other business at the location, boat repairing or similar. We were exposed to terrible noise from all kind of machines for at least 5 hours a day. We did complain and were told that they just have to run their business. We were told that we should move from our patio to some other place to avoid the noise.
I find it very disrespectful and dishonest to have customers exposed to such a treatment.
The place is OK, but cottages are close to each other and ours was not really functional - big space but small bedrooms with windows not opening, very small shower, no hooks at the entry.Kitchen very poorly equipped. It did not look like a place planned with customer comfort in mind.

We had a fantastic short break this month at this resort and are pleased to recommend it. The hosts were very accommodating and wonderfully generous with their time and ensuring our stay went smoothly. We had a great time with activities on the lake. The hot tub and sauna at cottage were very relaxing and there was a brilliant games rooms with free games that looked very recently renovated. It was all very much appreciated!

Our second year at Springwood, and another great week. Ed and Christine are so warm and welcoming, and every convenience is thought of. Cottages are clean, fully stocked, and beds are comfortable! Our kids love running a tab at the general store and all the game’s throughout the resort. The Share Shed is a big hit with our daughters. Lots of options included from water sports, beach, volleyball, depending on your mood. Cottages offer great outdoor seating, nightly fires, and privacy. But also lots of opportunities to socialize with other guests if desired. Our cottage had a hot tub which is a nice addition for cooler temps. And the new games room offered lots of opportunities for our family to hang out, play pool, etc after a day of sun. Beach is a nice safe place for kids to play and families to swim. Overall, another 10/10 year!

There is a busy workshop in the middle of the resort and power washing and power tools are noisily working every single day from 9:00 am (sometimes earlier) to 5:00 pm. We felt as if we were in the city with all the movement and noise around.
The owners were not too eager to help either, and seemed annoyed with requests like plugged drainage or a change of the empty propane BBQ tank, or questions about the noise. I am pretty sure I won’t be coming back.

Springwood was a perfect home-base for some of our team to stay over the weekend. It is easily accessible to Hwy 7 and very convenient. The cabin suit our needs and had a beautiful view of the lake. The property was quiet even though there were a number of guests on the property. We were surprised by how much the store on site had to offer! Everything from ice cream, Kraft Dinner and fishing supplies! It was great!
