Stayed here at end of cycling tour on our way to Bordeaux airport. Arrived to find reception unmanned and the wall mounted check in machine which dispensed keys not working. Had to wait over an hour to get in . Aided by another French speaking guest who phoned for assistance.
Room with kettle great . Cool . Air conditioning.
Sad about the difficult check in . Staff friendly and helpful.

Although the location of the hotel was 20 minutes from the center of Bordeaux, it was easy to get to. Rooms very clean and large. Close to main road but windows very sound proof. Reception was warm and welcoming. Was provided with an excellent restaurant in the area. Breakfast had sufficient choice. Coffee a bit watered down.

The hotel calls itself a boutique hotel, but being a boutique hotel is quite something different than choosing a theme and decorating accordingly. It is however conveniently close to the Autoroute and that is the major attraction of the hotel.

Things that are OK: the bed is quite comfortable, shower is okay, breakfast offers few options but is fine. Coffeemaker in the room is a plus.

Not so good: cleanliness, the blackout curtains only work if you keep the windows closed and the air conditioning on. Window open means a lot of ambient light. Reception closes at nine.

I’m under the impression that better options are available close by. Not recommended.

Response from Carole Balance, Directeur général at Logis Hôtel Novalis
Responded 11 May 2023
Madam, Sir, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Novalis Hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed our convenient location near the motorway, the comfort of our beds and our breakfast. We have noted your feedback regarding cleanliness and blackout curtains. We are sorry if these aspects did not meet your expectations. We will work on improving these aspects to make our guests more comfortable. Concerning the reception, we close at 9pm on weekends, but our team will always contact you to explain the arrival arrangements. As far as the notion of a boutique hotel is concerned, we emphasise the warmth of our welcome and the quality of our services. Each room is individually decorated and we listen to the needs of our guests to offer them a unique experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with a more satisfying experience. Carole Operations Manager Logis Hotel Novalis 05 57 35 37 80

By arriving there was no staff and we could not enter the private parking, the exterior gate did not open. With the key we got from the keybox we could enter the hotel. But we found the postbox on the gate open with an entrance key of the hotel in it, so anyone could have entered/enter the hotel.
After several phonecalls in which we had to insist (one person told us that we had to leave the car on the street) after a while someone from another hotel came and brought us to a nearby hotel where we could park the car safely. Took a 10 minutes walk in the rain back to the hotel.
Not the service you expect when you arrive tired after a long journey. Problem is that there is no staff available who can solve the problems.

We did not originally book this hotel. We booked another via Booking.com and had it confirmed only to be told less than 24 hours before our booking that they had overbooked.
This hotel is dreadful. The Receptionist on arrival was extremely rude and unaccommodating. The decor is laughable - like something out of the Hotel Inspector BEFORE she makes changes! They gave us one paper coffee cup between the 3 of us. The room was NOT large enough to accommodate a family. The lighting was inadequate. There was no bar, no restaurant, no facilities other than a vending machine with chocolate bars in it.

To cap it all, we had to leave early the next day to catch our flight from Bordeaux and found that the exterior gate was locked. There are no staff on site at all and we were starting to panic. Then I noticed a small sign written in French that I managed to translate which said that the code to let yourself out is on the room key. What a farce!

This hotel calls itself a "boutique" hotel and thinks that it is quirky. I love the idea of somewhere very individual and with character but this establishment does not achieve that. Appalling customer service too.

Located close to the motorway, this hotel provides a very good level of services : room clean and wide, staff friendly and taking care, good food for an evening dinner in the middle of a kind of industrial estate area. On a business point of view, this is the kind of place you may look for as a convenient travel stop

I stayed here two nights on business, I arrived on a Sunday lunch time and everything was locked up and even though I had booked nobody was there initially, luckily a lady who I think was a cleaner turned up and let me in when she had found my booking.
A very basic hotel, clean and comfortable, close to a main road but you couldn't hear any noise from it, the food in the restaurant was very nice and I couldn't fault the breakfasts either

We were leaving Portugal at 08:15 local time and arrived at 23:55 at the hotel, take a hot shower and a good night rest we woke up at 07:30.
The hotel , bed bathroom, etc, were very good and clean. The breakfast is not that much but ok for a hotel with that size, less then 20 rooms I gues.
It's near the highway and easily o find and has is own private parking area.
The only thing is to manage on time o get there if you are stuck in a lot of traffic jams.
Next year again.

kind regards
Jack

Stayed in a triple room and the room was fine. It would have been nice to have more towels and more cups and drinks available. It felt like it was assumed it would be two adults and a child staying in the room and not three adults. However the room was quiet and had excellent black out blinds and would make an excellent stopover on a long drive. I need to make special mention of the really wonderfully kind woman on reception. She went out of her way to find out information for us and she was beyond kind to my daughter. Wonderful French hospitality.

Inn very easy to access, the rooms are very comfortable with atypical decoration. The staff at the reception is professional and very pleasant. Breakfast is very good. Good restaurants are nearby for those who do not want to look too long.
