Perfect environment with crazy charm at the entrance but major renovation to consider inside.
The location is quite good, outside of Bordeaux but with good transport took me 20 minutes to get from the hotel to place Gambetta by bus+tram so the car would only really be neede if you intend on visiting "Chateaux" and vineyards.
The room was clean and surprisingly large for a "basic" room, the furniture could do with a little bit of TLC and looks a bit shabby but the bed is comfortable.
Working in a hotel myself I am used to pay attention to details and was really pleased with my stay.
The receptionist was very helpful and friendly but not overbearing.
I had several meals in their restaurant and it was all very good. The only negative comment would be that a waitress accidentally dropped a plate near the kitchen pass on her way to serve another guest, she brought it back to the pass (open grill) and the chef just took a crouton out of the plate before sending the same plate to the oblivious guest... if you send food that touched the floor you should make sure there is no one around to witness this...
Breakfast had a great selection croissants and local honey are wonderful.
The rooms are simple and comfortable; they are also dog friendly.
The restaurant is the high point, it isn't haute cuisine, it's glorious bistro food, and some of the best and most comforting I have eaten.
I will be back
Check-in staff very friendly and hugely helpful...they booked us a table in the restaurant on arrival. Rooms were nothing fancy but super clean, the beds were comfortable and importantly, for this time of year, air conditioning working beautifully. We had a family room with a double and single bed...not a z-bed which is one of our pet hates. Hotel quiet which helped the good nights rest. Breakfast was nothing fancy but good quality continental fare with plenty of coffee, tea and juices...perfect for the day ahead.
Pleased we booked the on-site restaurant as it got quite busy. Food was good...again, nothing fancy but very tasty. The waiter suggested a wine and for 25 euros it was a real crowd pleaser...all three of us loved it.
They have an on-site car-park but it's very small...we were lucky to grab the last space. However, there's a car-park opposite and one further down the road. Very convenient location for the motorway and probably good for the city.
"So far as we could see, all the rooms should be quiet. The hotel is set back, and lies between, two roads that seem quite quiet at night."Read full review
