Detailed Reviews
We were booked in to stay one night at Tiger Hill on our ride along the Otago Rail Trail which was organised by Nick and Andrea of Tiger Hill and Luxury Rail Trail Tours. From the moment we arrived at the Lodge situated right next to the trail at Omakau and welcomed like family by Gwyneth and Nick, we felt completely relaxed and at home. The Lodge is comfortable, very well appointed and truly exceeds its

We stayed at Tiger Hill on our first night of the trail. Gweneth met us and let us pick our room since we were the first guests. There's homemade shortbread and Elderflower cordial on arrival and Gweneth is a warm informative host. We are now at day 4 of the trail and Tiger Hill has had the best beds and shower. Much appreciated. Hot tub was nice too.

Cycling the Otago Rail Trail and Throughly enjoyed our stay, up market accomodation, very clean, sunny & a very enjoyable hostess Gwen. Close to the trail (right next to actually), close vicinity to town and a side trip out to Ophir. We would highly recommend staying here.

A big day on the Otago Rail Trail today with temperatures in the 30's and niggly wind was made all good when we got to Tiger Hill Lodge. What a beautiful purpose built Lodge with your own large room with a private entrance exit to the outside with king size beds and ensuite. Fully functioning and modern shared kitchen and two lounge areas. The Lodge is positioned to take in the fantastic panoramic 360 degree views. Gwenyth the Lodge owner was a lovey host being both unobtrusive and welcoming. We'd love to come back here again. Tiger Hill Lodge is very similar to a B&B in it's function.

Stayed across the street from Tiger Hill Lodge in what they call Tiger Hill Lodge (Wilsons). Good location next to the rail-trail and a short walk into town. We had a large room with vaulted ceiling and sliding glass doors on to a balcony. They have a large lounge and big kitchen. The landlady, Gwenyth, was very kind and delivered some fresh eggs which we used for our breakfast.

We stayed at Lodge in the first week of May. We came off the Rail trail at Omakau and there it was!! in the middle of a large lawn bathed in sunshine. Our names were on the door with the instruction that our room was open. We walked in to this amazing house and found our room with ensuite then wandered out to a large lounge area with modern kitchen.... there was another lounge with fire place set ready to light. Large panoramic windows over looked the beautiful views, perk coffee, cookies, breakfast provisions and an honesty system for the cold beer and wine sitting in the fridge - true bliss, particularly as we had the place to ourselves!! We didn't even use the spa, unbelievably!!, the sun was too enticing. Gwyn popped over to light the diesel fire as it chilled off and welcomed us. We walked down to the pub for dinner. A memorable stay for our 1st night on the trail.

This is our second stay and we so looked forward to it. The house was cosy and warm on our winter visit. The spa was divine and Gwenyths hospitality and kindness made this a very special stay. The beds are so comfortable and each bedroom is a lovely private haven, if you are lucky enough to book here, look forward to it to!

Stayed here with my son while doing the rail trail. Very nice modern building. Warm and clean. Rooms share common kitchen and lounge, giving a chance to swap trail stories. Made use of laundry room. Kitchen had everything needed, including cold beers and wine. New spa. Great views.

Our first night on the bike trail from Clyde and a nice introduction to the sort of accommodations you can get. A modern room with large bathroom (handicap rated). A large lounge and eating area and a complete kitchen. Nice fruit and cereals with yoghurt for breakfast.

Would highly recommend this purpose built lodge. The spa was great after our first day on the trail. Then to relax in the living room which opens out to a great outdoor area. Extremely comfortable beds - a wonderful experience.
