After a day trip to Pitt Island in March ‘22 we decided that we had to go back for longer, so as soon as we got home, I booked 4 days for Feb ‘23. It was the best impulse decision we have made for a long time. Unlike the day trip in ‘22 we crossed to Pitt by boat, and were welcomed warmly by Brent on the wharf an hour or so latter. We had perfect weather, saw lots of birds including the Chatham Petrel, NZ Shore Plover and the Chatham Island Oyster Catcher with their chicks. Bonus wild life included an Elephant Seal and the wild sheep. Lisa took us up Mt Hakepa and we had a stunning view on reaching the top. A crazy as day in the buggy going through Waipaua Scenic Reserve. And our trip wound up watching events unfold on boat day, including the cattle muster. This is a trip we will not forget. Spacious rooms, excellent facilities, beautiful homecooked meals and hosts whose passion for their island home shone through. We will treasure the experience always.…

Pitt Island is a must see if you go for the Chathams, and its best to go for a night or four and stay at Flowerpot where Brent and Bernie are just the greatest hosts. The Lodge has one of those iconic views out across Pitt Strait to the main island. The rooms are 5-star and the catering is top class all day. Whether its serving up the meals of carting you around the island Brent and Bernie are attentive to your needs, with great stories of the island's past and the natural environment. Make sure you see Glory Cottage and spare an hour for a wander through Caravan Bush (you can even have a quick glimpse of the Chatham petrels. A hike up Hakepa Hill is also well worth the effort. We will be back, and next time it will be fishing with Brent at the top of the menu.

We spent two nights at the Flowerpot, a great time to unwind and recharge! The first day was spent touring the island with glorious weather, Glory Bay being a highlight. The second day, the weather had packed in, yet our hosts were able to rustle up activities to keep us entertained. The food was amazing, especially knowing that the food was sourced locally. No store on the island, cellphone coverage available on most parts of the island.

We (a group of eight) spent three days here. It was an amazing experience. From the light plane flight in, the wonderful informative tours of the island and amazing hospitality of Brent, Bernie & Lisa. Be prepare to put on a kilo or two - breakfast, lunch and three course dinners are a treat - all local ingredients. Highly recommended!

Brent and Bernie are ‘mine hosts’ who put the needs of every guest before their own. Delicious home cooked meals, engaging conversations and important historical information. Brent kept one eye on the weather to ensure our safe return. An unexpected luxurious space in the most far flung corner of Aotearoa… highly recommended and not to be missed.

We were very lucky to enjoy lunch at Flowerpot Bay Lodge as part of a day trip to Pitt from Chatham Island - hospitality and food was fantastic, as were the views from the Lodge - highly recommend a visit here - even a stay if you have the chance ! Bernie and Brent have the most wonderful spot to call home !

Our experience exceeded expectations. Bernie and Brent organised our trip which went without a hitch. The way they organised the weather was a lesson to other hosts. Sunny, warm and gale force winds - perfect!! The lodge was very comfortable and warm with a homely vibe. We had a great time and really scored with the other guests in the Lodge being great company. We were well fed with basic wines which given the logistics, were very reasonable priced. Haven't mentioned the great walks and the unending stream of interesting information from Brent about everything!! And if our plane had been delayed it would not have been a hardship!

Flower Pot Lodge - organised flights and quote for stay, when plane broke down due to Airline fault, no refund of flights or quote given. Seem to think they are not obliged to. Poor understanding of NZ Consumer Law and when approached , hide behind a cancellation policy. Tip pay by Credit card so can reverse charges when things go wrong.

We booked 2 nights at the Flower Pot Lodge on Pitt Island during a recent trip to the Chatham Islands. However, we ended up staying for 6 nights due to the poor weather, as the little Cessna was unable to fly during the spate of bad weather. But it turned out to be one of the best experiences on our trip. The hosts, Brent and Bernie, were excellent. They made us feel right at home and took very good care of us. Brent led us on a number of very interesting and informative tours of the island – covering the history, geology, and flora/fauna. All meals were served in the lodge and we were consistently very well fed. Wifi internet was available most of the time, albeit a little slow (but we’re not complaining!), and there is Sky TV available in the lounge. Our room was large and airy with a balcony, and a great view out over the Pitt strait to Chatham Island. Overall, a fantastic 6 nights, and we would love to come here again. Highly recommended.…

We stayed with a group of friends for 3 days. It was well worth it. The host, Brent and Burnie were helpful and informative about the fascinating history of Pitt Island and it’s fauna and flora. The home cooked food was great and featured some local produce.
