We booked 2 nights at the Flower Pot Lodge on Pitt Island during a recent trip to the Chatham Islands. However, we ended up staying for 6 nights due to the poor weather, as the little Cessna was unable to fly during the spate of bad weather. But it turned out to be one of the best experiences on our trip. The hosts, Brent and Bernie, were excellent. They made us feel right at home and took very good care of us. Brent led us on a number of very interesting and informative tours of the island – covering the history, geology, and flora/fauna. All meals were served in the lodge and we were consistently very well fed. Wifi internet was available most of the time, albeit a little slow (but we’re not complaining!), and there is Sky TV available in the lounge. Our room was large and airy with a balcony, and a great view out over the Pitt strait to Chatham Island. Overall, a fantastic 6 nights, and we would love to come here again. Highly recommended.

We stayed with a group of friends for 3 days. It was well worth it. The host, Brent and Burnie were helpful and informative about the fascinating history of Pitt Island and it’s fauna and flora. The home cooked food was great and featured some local produce.

We had been told that Brent and Bernie were the nicest people we were ever likely to meet, and that was the absolute truth! From the beginning,  Brent helped me coordinate with the main island to book there, which had been impossible on my own. The owners of the Flowerpot have such an incredible connection to the beautiful Pitt Island, their knowledge and passion is evident in their stories, the trips we went on, and the beautiful meals we were given.  We landed on the main Chatham Island and didn't love it, but fortunately, had an immediate affinity with Pitt. Brent ensured every minute of our time was filled with sightseeing, laughs, and the fascinating history of the Island. Bernie took the best care of us, and is way too humble when she refers to herself as 'just a home cook', as each night she highlighted the delicious local produce faultlessly.  We spent 4 nights on Pitt with another lovely group of people, it was just enough for us - don't be tempted to settle for the day trip!  We couldn't even begin to describe the gorgeous scenery and amazing experiences you will enjoy. Thank you guys, we had the BEST holiday- we've done a lot of traveling, and this was truly a highlight.  We'll see you again for sure! ❤

Pitt Island is a gorgeous part of the world and I can't thank Brent enough for showing us different areas of this majestic Island. The tours were fantastic filled with passion, stunning scenery and very informative. To come back to the lodge after a big day out, is very special with Bernie's cooking - the best! Our room had brilliant views and was very cosy and would highly recommend a visit here.
