We stayed on the 3rd floor in a lovely little room that upon first entering had a funny smell. This disappated after opening the ranch slider.
The bed was super comfy and can't fault the rooms. The shower head did need fixing though as was uneven in flow.
Cutlery was a bit sparse as we only had one teaspoon but I can live with that.
My mum and I stayed there because I was getting married close by and wanted a special place to get ready.
We confirmed time & location of breakfast with the reception desk so we had enough time before we had to get ready.
We arrived at the level 1 dining room for breakfast at exactly 7am when it was due to start service only to be met with a dark room.
Confused, we walked around to reception (vacant before 8am) and up to the level 3 restaurant just in case we misheard.
We went to head back down at 7.10 to check again joking that we'll have to go in and call out, not realizing that a staff member was in our lift.

She opened the doors in the breakfast room, the lights came on and as we walked in, we were hit by an almighty stench of sewerage! The first thing we did was rush to the ranch slider, threw open the curtains and doors and stood outside to catch our breath; only to see the staff member walking between the tables spraying what I assume to be febreeze.

Surely if it was that bad you'd air the place at least 30 minutes before service.

She then proceed to uncover the cereals, which I hope weren't left from the day (week?!) before. There was only one sachet of each tea, no spoons and the orange juice had Grey sediment in the bottom of the very large container that she sat on top of the taps.

Thank goodness for coffee, or so we thought because as we made our way over to the "fresh" pot, she came out of the kitchen with a boiling jug of water to pour it into the percolator!

That was the last straw, we took our cereal, retreated to our room and ate on the deck in the fresh air.

Wretch!

I imagine if you stay on level 1 you may have the same smell. Level 3 was fine.

So in summary. Do not have the breakfast. It's definitely not 5 star quality. Get the food inspectors in!

Enjoyed our stay here - comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Washing machine in the bathroom and air conditioning in the lounge. Free car parking and for a little more per night we upgraded to a balcony room with nice view. Very quite.

My first time staying at the VR. I really enjoyed it. Spacious room in a very picturesque part of Auckland. It overlooks the Bayswater Marina and Harbour Bridge. Worst part is actually getting to the hotel down Lake Road as traffic is diabolical at any time of day, The Marina is nice to walk around but no shops or anything there. If you want quiet and relaxing this is the place for you.

Room 108 smelled like sewage. When I reported it, the staff acted surprised and sprayed room freshener when I moved my car around to the back. At the same time, I reported a gurgling sound in the kitchen sink at 5:30pm. By 9:30pm I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep in a bedroom with the door closed to help block the sound, away from the air con unit so I rang reception. The call was transferred off property as my reception was closed. They brought me a key to another room in case I needed to use it. Didn't sleep well, kept being woken up by the sound. Food is less than desirable (frozen fried prawns) but the 5-7pm $6 beers helped. Staff rang me at 10:15am to check when I was leaving. Was told checkout was 11am when I arrived. Upon check out, was told it was 10am. On a Sunday? What kind of hotel is this?? The best part of this hotel is the Korean woman working in the restaurant - she is great, welcoming and warm. The rest of the other staff need customer service training as it was poor. I will be recommending my company does not have this as a bookable option.

The staff is very hostile and unfriendly especially the receptionist Voila and Asst. Manager Jessica is even worst with both having no sense of customer service and an attitude of if you don't like it you can check somewhere else...

If you would check the reviews over BOOKING.COM you would realize that most of them are true with clear indication to the same problems of the staff, cleanness/Hygiene, and Wi-Fi

Avoid it noting that there are many other better options in the same area

I have literally never left a review on anything ever, but I felt the urge on this one. Family booked us a surprise stay for a few nights while visiting Auckland, and we were surprised. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a review since 2020? I’m also surprised that the 2013 Trip advisor award is still displayed with such pride. Can those awards be revoked? Or even posted back? On arrival, You find the gardens are covered in weeds, there are cracked tiles and a funky smell. Not overly inviting and nothing like the internet pictures. Then you go into the room and you are greeted by the same thing. I opened a door which lead to a tiny room. In that room was a broken oil heater on full trying to dry the wet carpet. Weird. Then there is the bathroom with something brown spattered on the wall by the toilet. My suspicious mind leads me to believe the brown spatter is something sinister 🥸. The bedroom door is damaged and resembles a door that has been kicked in at some point. The outlook from our ground floor roadside room were weeds,
damaged tiles and mould. Not the ocean view the family expected. It’s just tired and dirty with stains everywhere. There is no attention to detail and there is a Distinct lack of care all round. I’m not fussy, but this is not good. I didn’t even pay for the room, yet I feel the need to leave this review regardless. Sorry, but won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

For accomodation that calls it’s “executive suites” an old looking motel room with the view of a carpark, it’s pretty poor. Over priced, best view is from the restaurant but the drinks come warm as the staff don’t seem to know about hospitality.

Han overnight stat in a two bedroom apartment and I it was very disappointing in many aspects. Location wise no concerns as it was near the Bayswater ferry terminal and a easy walk from the hotel. The staff are very inexperienced and lacked knowledge of the organisation that they represent. The breakfast was simply a disgrace, poorly presented and of a horrible standard. The room also offers no positive vibes. The evening meal was very nice , butter chicken and prawns were great . Service left a lot to be desired. Nice view of Auckland was a plus.
Room was very ordinary with a very poor floor plan. Our friends had to use our en-suite showering facilities !!! Carpet was very stained and dirty and dead cockroaches were evident. For a 5 star (???) hotel this was totally unacceptable. As you can read it is impossible for me to recommend VPT.

Everything including price was ok. Nothing special. Washer/dryer combo takes hours and hours. Paid extra for a room with view but was a car park view. Was nice being close to drive to town but also close to ferry to town. Could do with a refurb.

As I sat in the club lounge, on the free WIFI, enjoying the best views Auckland has to offer sipping over a nice glass of cold white wine (which was complimentary i might add) i have found my perfect oasis for accommodation for both the staff of my company and myself when I find myself in Auckland. Great stay, thanks to Steve and the team for looking after me during my breif visit to Auckland. Just one tip, it would be nice to have a fresh orange juice instead of the mango juice each morning...perhaps look at doing a buffet option? Regardless, great stay and will be back.

I can recommend this hotel .like the person before me I stayed in one bedroom .i would have happily stayed with my children .the good thing is the hotel is away from the noise of Auckland .i also think there is a ferry going to Auckland so you don't have to take the car to the city .Please check this service . Hope this helps

The property is secluded so I found it very convenient that I had rented a car, and drove the 1 hour journey from the airport.(Alternarively, Uber maybe available in Auckland now) No problem to check in during off hours. Press intercom on side door and ask to get the envelope after some intro; complete check in the following day. Additional tip : Bayswater is gorgeous and has exquisite restaurant at the ferry point.

Hi Luz, Yes there is daily housekeeping. There is also daily self-serve continental breakfast, or you can order something. No need to worry about damp towels.
