We stayed 4 nights in a studio unit. There were some positives: it was handy to shops, to motorway access and to the family we came to visit, and had plenty of parking. Cleaning and servicing were adequate. The rest of our experience was depressingly negative.

Almost all fittings in the unit were damaged or broken - switches, light fittings, kitchenware, door knobs and window latches. The unit had only the barest of facilities - 1 thin pillow each, only 1 comfortable chair, poor TV reception, bad radio sound, no broadband, wifi not working, and a single bed light for 3 beds. Supplies such as soap, shampoo and tissues were minimal. Added to that the unit was dark and sunless, and had drab, poorly maintained decor. In short, it felt like a prison.

Come on, Auckland! You need better than this for the World Cup.

We decided to saty here because it was close to the function we were attending. First impressions were "ok" but by check out time we were very disappointed. It is noisy, old and worn out and needs a good clean. If you can, find somewhere else to stay!

We've travelled in a family of 5, mom, dad and 3 children. We first went to Lake Taupo and stayed there for 2 nights.

If you are driving, like most tourist that comes to New Zealand do, this motel is an alright place to stay. The location is somewhere I would say in a suburb area. A satellite city probably. Driving to Auckland using the highway, took us 15 minutes. The location is not far from the highway exit.

I personally like the premise. It has been maintained very good from 1980s design. The compound where guest can park their car is spacious. The bright colour of bougainvillea at the balcony is very eye catching. The rooms are located on the ground floor and on the first floor. Our room is on the first floor. Very spacious room with 2 smaller bedrooms in it. For the price, we are happy to pay for it. It has a huge living hall, a small kitchen, one dining at one corner and a bathroom. It’s more like an apartment. The hall’s window (spanning the whole wall), is overlooking the housing area around it. One of the rooms is overlooking the neighbours’ room. Since it was the Christmas week, the neighbour is playing Christmas songs which we find it very homey like. The kitchen is equipped with stoves, exhaust fan, microwave and small fridge. If you are like us who prefers to make your own breakfast and packed lunch (which saves a lot of money), having a kitchen like this is very convenient.

The receptionist (an Asian) does not speak English very well, which is a surprise a little. We were asking about the wifi connection if it is free. He says yes and when we asked for the username and password, he says that we need to pay certain amount. Not to confuse ourselves further, we end up abstaining ourselves from the World Wide Web for 2 nights.

If there is any requirement to iron your shirt, there’s a laundry room on the ground floor at one corner of the premise, where the iron and iron board is. Also in the laundry room are the washing machines and dryers. The type that you have to fill in the coins. You have to buy your own detergent though. I find this a very good idea. Not many places that I’ve travelled to, has this type of facilities at their premises.

After reading some of these reviews after I had booked, it was with some trepidation that I stayed at the motel with my son and two other primary school aged children while we visited Auckland for a school event. It was fine - clean, recently re-decorated, plenty of towells, soaps etc. The family unit configuration was good too - two separate bedrooms (one twin, one double) as well as one bed in the lounge so we could spread out and I didn't have to share a room with one of the children! The shower base made a little bath so you could use that to bath smaller children instead of using the shower.

The unit had a full stove as well as a microwave so I could cook a meal too.

I found it good value to get a 2-bedroom unit for that price, it was quiet while still close to the events centre we were visiting. I booked via email and that worked very well too.

We were lawn bowlers staying 6 nights at this motel. On arrival, we discovered there had been a mistake with the booking and had to point out quite firmly that we had a family unit booked. Eventually we ended up in the family unit, only to discover a dirty frypan in the cupboard and absolutely no pots at all. Half a roll of toilet paper for three women wasnt going to last either. The cleanliness of the unit wasnt great and the servicing of the units even less. Top covers were pulled up without even smoothing out the sheets in the bed. Utensils were very short of supply with no can opener to be found in several of the units that other bowlers were staying in. The beds were quite comfortable so I guess not everything was bad.

For the price of $150 per night for three of us we felt we did not get good value for money at any stage.

The television sets in most of the units including ours were antiquated and most definitely wouldnt be working after 1st December and a very limited selection of channels which were mostly in black and white and viewing was as if television had just been launched in NZ!!!

Not a great deal other than the proximity to the Henderson Bowling Club.

This is a scruffy old motel, desperate for a major overhaul or even a bulldozer. The pool is a stagnant green colour, the restaurant looks like the set of Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares.
Staff didn't seem to care about the state of the pool, and the fact my son was gutted because he couldn't swim on his birthday weekend away

was very pleasantly surprised by the lovely unit we had. It was clean and spacious with lovely clean bedding and towels. The only negative was the lack of a designated car space for parking for each unit. The cleaners were very friendly and left plenty of tea and coffee etc for us would definitely stay there again
