Staff was the best! Room generally was fine, no frills though comfortable. Central location. The problem was that my room was on the first floor, window facing the garbage area of a restaurant. It was warm weather and I had to keep the window open, lots of smells from kitchen…

This is a small hotel with a very central location in the old part of Visby. The rooms were clean and in good condition, and a reasonable size for a European hotel (though not large).
We paid around 1000 SEK (about 100 euro) per night for three night, which was actually a very good deal for a hotel in Visby in July. We chose it mostly because it was the only hotel with availability one month in advance in high season.
Our impression was the quality was comparable to other hotels in central Visby, so I'd recommend booking whichever has rooms for the most reasonable price when you're planning to be there.

This hotel save me and a few others from sleeping rough of the streets of Visby. We had only just arrived on the island by boat from the mainland but hadn't made arrangements for a place to stay. The boat arrived at midnight and most hotel receptions were shut - apart from this place in the heart of the city. The rooms are small but comfy, with a shower and the rate is very reasonable. Visby is a very quiet town so there is no problem with unwanted noise in such a central location.

This not often the case but when it happens then prepare yourself. The rooms have no AC and at least ours was pretty (very) small. Wardrobes were very limited making the room even smaller since you need to put your clothes around the room. No working table, simply no space for it. No other off-loading surfaces either. This is a room to sleep in (if possible due to the heat) and the escape. The charge was 1400 SEK per night for a double and for me that is truly hefty for what you get.
Staff is friendly, breakfast is normal hotel breakfast, not more.
If I am not desperate and cannot find a better room I will not come back.

We went here for two nights, the room was cozy and perfectly situated right in the center of Visby, close to everything we wanted to do in Visby, after a night out it was very quiet and nice at the hotel. There was some mishap with the room when we arrived, but the staff immediately and very charmingly compensated us right away.

The hotel was selected because of its low price. Upon checked in, I found the room adequate size with 2 single beds that pushed together, good bedside lighting, storage, a writing desk and a chair, a small tv, an arm chair, coat hanging area, and a small bar fridge. There is also a hairdryer in the bathroom. Both the room and bathroom are very clean.

My room is located on the ground floor, ie. street level with window opening to the road, but it was all quiet at night with no traffic noise at all.

The hotel is about a 20 mins walk from the ferry terminal, and since it is on Mellangatan, the middle road, making it easy to locate. From there, it is a 10 mins uphill walk to the Visby Centre just outside the city wall, passing the big market (Storatorget).

The buffet breakfast, which is included in the rate, was fantastic. It offered a fair selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, good variety of breads and rolls, choices of hams, 2 types of hard boiled eggs, peeled hard boiled eggs with seafood and mayonaise, variety of cereals which you can create your own combinations, fresh orange juice and other breakfast drinks, and yoghurts. The brown bread was one of the best I have had.

As for food around the hotel area, the friendly hotel receptionist recommended Joda, located on Skeppsbron 24, the street to the ferry terminal, which is a 10 mins walk from the hotel. Turns out that's where the locals go for a night out, the food was good!!!

My only complain for the hotel is the soft bed, I literally sink when lying on the bed, which gives me a sore back the next morning, but that (soft beds and soft pillows) I found quite common in hotels and homes across Sweden.

I stayed here for a week! It was clean and nice. The hotel itself were central.
The gripe that I might have, is that when it gets hot outside, it gets really hot inside, and there´s no AC, which doesn´t help.

But I recommend the place!

Clean and neat room and shower. Very hot and stuffy in the room - we used the electric fan which alleviated the heat somewhat as no aircon.
Very good, continental breakfast. Delicious bread - some of it is homemade.
One of the receptionists, Suzzane, is very friendly, efficient and helpful.
Good location in the picturesque old town.

Upon arrival, the hotel staff was very friendly and helped us with some restaurant recommendations and explained where we could find points of interest.
The hotel room was a bit small for two people. However, it was beautifully furnished and the bathroom facilities were quite modern. The breakfast was held in a familiar atmosphere and offered some regional products which we really appreciated. We also really liked the proximity of the hotel as it is located in the middle of Visby.

It seems that rooms book quickly in Visby. I was fortunate to find a single at the last minute at this adorable hotel. The bed was really comfortable and I could practically reach everything in the room right from the bed. However, it did have two chairs with a table between them, a small refrigerator and a desk area. The bathroom was a good size. Breakfast was very nice. My last night there, I booked a second room for my daughter and her friend who had been attending a wedding outside of the town. Their double room was a precious pink room with white furniture and was more spacious. The location is great. The only drawback is the noise from the street. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this very nice hotel in the midst of magical Visby!

Hello Ray! We answered your first question below yesterday: Unfortunately there is no space at Hotell Gute where we can store hire cycles. It is possible to store cycles in the garden at our other hotel, "Hotell Breda Blick", which is around a 5 to 10 minutes walk from Hotel Gute. You can get more info when arriving to Hotell Gute. Best Regards, Oskar
