Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our overnight stay with Hugh and Dwayne at the Barn was a highlight of our A2O bike ride. We were treated to genuine kiwi friendly hospitality, delicious meals including hors d’oeuvres on our arrival and a packed lunch on our departure, a fabulous French themed bedroom with very comfy bed and loved the cosy, inclusive feel of the eating and sitting area. A very special place with wonderful hosts and a poignant history

Very new Barn style two story B&B with the two proud owners hosting.
Guest accomodation is seperate upstairs with four ample size bedrooms, all with ensuites.
Hosts are colourful and entertaining, and join in over dinner. Dinner is home cooked, in our case, nibbles, entree, main Moroccan chicken with sides, all extremely enjoyable and ample. Beverages also provided including beer, gin, and lovely NZ wines to match.
It could have been a very late night if it were not for the 10k bike hill climb awaiting us next morning (part of A2O).
We were travelling as 3 couples and slept very well that night with full bellies.
Thanks H & D - hope to be back !

The Barn is one of the best places I have ever stayed in! Hugh and Dwayne are super welcoming. The rooms are beautiful and the double sided fireplace is incredible. Convivial hosts, fantastic meals and lux rooms in a beautiful location. I will be dreaming about those mushrooms in butter and whisky for years. If you’re cycling the A2O or just visiting Lake Ohau, make sure you book the Barn!

The Barn @ Killin - Lake Ohau is a welcome oasis whether you’re on the Alps 2 Ocean (A2O) cycling adventure, stopping off to spend a couple of days checking out Mt. Cook and the Hooker Valley Track or pausing to enjoy Lake Ohau and the nearby salmon fishing. Hugh and Dwayne are exceptional hosts who go out of their way to make you feel like you are right at home. The beds are are amazing! My wife and I look forward to returning in the future and we encourage you to check them out!

We came here on the Alps to Ocean ride and it was a real high point in our trip. We had some challenging weather that day with some wind and rain/sleet. Hugh met us at the door with mugs of hot mulled wine. He and Dwayne had the fire already going for us and made us comfortable right away. Fabulous food and they were so fun to talk with. We had a wonderful sunset on their property which was immaculate. Wonderful accommodations. We even got to play some musical instruments before dinner (and they made us a lunch for the next day!) We will be back!

The perfect hosts in the most beautiful location! Hugh and Dwayne have created something really special! The thought and care that they put into making our stay so welcoming, was truly amazing. Luxurious room, food that could grace any top hotels table, delivered with a cheeky charisma, that will want you coming back for more. The guys really do know how to entertain!
Hopefully we will get a chance to be in their company again.
A top place to stay for sure….

What an amazing place and great hosts. The best experience you can have and such fantastic food. From the minute we arrived we were treated like family and nothing was too much trouble for Hugh and Dwayne. The accomodation and beds were super comfortable as well. Highly recommend it.

We had a short but awesome stay. Hugh was easygoing and we very much felt at home. Rooms are super cozy and very comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast and we just simply felt at home. The area is beautiful with a small lake just in front of the barn. Definitely recommend this place, excellent value for money. Thank you Hugh, we shall be back. Hellen and Bernard
