We stayed at Villa Giovina occupying the double bedroom with bathroom. Ample parking.
Excellent cleanliness and quality of the rooms.
It is very relaxing to spend some time in the evening in the large garden with trees and flowers that surrounds the structure, well-kept and with a pleasant view. Where you can enjoy an atmosphere of tranquility. Beautiful terrace where you can be surrounded by greenery and with a view of the mountains.
The owner, Alberto, is a very kind and friendly person always available for any need.
Breakfast is a buffet with homemade desserts served. The dinner is excellent, the prices "very honest" with delicious and refined dishes, such as guitars with wild boar ragù, semifreddo with Sulmona sugared almonds, ferratella basket filled with strawberries or ferratella cannoli with ricotta cream, homemade gnocchi with sauce , very tender and tasty strips with rocket and parmesan flakes.
Dishes cooked excellently by Mrs. Debora. The menu consists of a choice between three first courses, two second courses and two side dishes, dessert or fruit and water and wine included.
The wine we chose was an excellent Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Cerasuolo

Mr... Alberto is practically perfect: for professionalism, courtesy, availability and sympathy. The rooms are large and clean, the food great, the whole structure is very cozy. The location is very good for visiting the southern cove of the Majella Park and the centers of Sulmona and Pacentro.

Arrogant and rude owner. Very little attention towards the customer. On the site it says to contact the property for anything with two telephone numbers and WhatsApp chat. Before leaving I tried to contact the two numbers several times by phone and also via WhatsApp to find out the check-in time but I received no response. Only after 3 hours was I told the check-in time while I was already almost at the arrival point.
The strange thing is that when registering customers (we were 3 people), he only wanted the documents of one person while the other two were not registered. First time this has happened to me in my entire life.
Mattress to avoid, very uncomfortable, low cushions non-existent, I had to wear clothing to add volume.
Very small shower.
The sore point is the breakfast. On the website it says buffet menu, while the sweet part is served directly by them without the customer being able to see what is available and therefore I can think that the rest of other customers are being served to me. I also don't know if they are homemade dishes or bought at the supermarket.
Last but not least, at check-out we were together with another couple, the owner didn't even bother to greet us.
I strongly advise against it.

In August 2018 our family had a very special joyful celebration. As residents in the UK we had a unique family wedding reception to prepare for in Sulmona. This involved a wedding meal to include 50 of our guests travelling from the UK, New York, New Zealand.
30 + of our guests stayed for 2 or 3 days in Villa Giovina.

• Villa Giovina has a beautiful setting with spectacular views of the mountains.
• The buildings are spaceous and the grounds and gardens very pretty and well maintained.
• Rooms were very clean and of a high standard.
• The service was most courteous and helpful .Staff were always very kind and considerate.
• The food and cuisine was of an excellent standard , authentically Italian. The kitchen catered for special dietary needs, gluten intolerant and vegetarian.

• The wedding meal was absolutely magnificent on a magical Italian evening
• Alberto and his highly professional staff manage a jewel of a hotel in this breathtaking location.

• We most certainly will return and enjoy the experience again

• Thank you for a fantastic experience Alberto!

• Villa Giovina will not disappoint the visitor!

It was summer 2014, with sun and good temperature. The hotel is among splendid lawns, trees with a marvelous swimming pool. Rooms are spacious and bathroom fine. Wifi= the top! Meals at the restaurant, including breakfast are excellent. We enjoyed the staff, very cordial and competent. A good address for those who want calm in a beautiful countryside.

Stayed at Villa Giovina 8-13 January 2013. Firstly, the confusing thing about its location is that it is post coded Pratola Peligna but in fact is in the village of Bagnaturo. Guess it is part of the Peligna district and not in Pratola itself. Based on reading other reviews on it we decided to book but although room was very clean and the views are stupendous unfortunately we were very disappointed by the lack of communal facilities that we could use. We could only eat in the evening if we booked in the morning, we were basically confined to our room unless we asked if we could sit in the bar which we did only once, when we decided to stay in one evening for a meal, which was fine. The owner/manager was very helpful once we asked about facilites and advice on the area.

I do not think there were very many people staying at the time we were there. It may be a totally different kettle of fish in the summer when it could be buzzing with activity but apart from our room we were very disappointed with the facilities not being automatically available/open to us unless we asked, so were confined to our room most evenings. Perhaps this should be mentioned on hotel booking websites.

Very beautiful grounds and comfortable beds. We were travelling as a family. We ate our lovely breakfast on their terrace with fresh squeezed orange juice and excellent service. Very happy to have stayed there.

Comfortable small room with good bathroom. Very clean hotel. Friendly staff. Value for money. Lovely area to explore. A visit to the nearby town of Sulmona is essential. Worth a walk to the friendly small bar in the village. Watch out for the bears.
