Excellent cleanliness and quality of the rooms.
It is very relaxing to spend some time in the evening in the large garden with trees and flowers that surrounds the structure, well-kept and with a pleasant view. Where you can enjoy an atmosphere of tranquility. Beautiful terrace where you can be surrounded by greenery and with a view of the mountains.
The owner, Alberto, is a very kind and friendly person always available for any need.
Breakfast is a buffet with homemade desserts served. The dinner is excellent, the prices "very honest" with delicious and refined dishes, such as guitars with wild boar ragù, semifreddo with Sulmona sugared almonds, ferratella basket filled with strawberries or ferratella cannoli with ricotta cream, homemade gnocchi with sauce , very tender and tasty strips with rocket and parmesan flakes.
Dishes cooked excellently by Mrs. Debora. The menu consists of a choice between three first courses, two second courses and two side dishes, dessert or fruit and water and wine included.
The wine we chose was an excellent Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Cerasuolo
The strange thing is that when registering customers (we were 3 people), he only wanted the documents of one person while the other two were not registered. First time this has happened to me in my entire life.
Mattress to avoid, very uncomfortable, low cushions non-existent, I had to wear clothing to add volume.
Very small shower.
The sore point is the breakfast. On the website it says buffet menu, while the sweet part is served directly by them without the customer being able to see what is available and therefore I can think that the rest of other customers are being served to me. I also don't know if they are homemade dishes or bought at the supermarket.
Last but not least, at check-out we were together with another couple, the owner didn't even bother to greet us.
I strongly advise against it.

In August 2018 our family had a very special joyful celebration. As residents in the UK we had a unique family wedding reception to prepare for in Sulmona. This involved a wedding meal to include 50 of our guests travelling from the UK, New York, New Zealand.
30 + of our guests stayed for 2 or 3 days in Villa Giovina.

I do not think there were very many people staying at the time we were there. It may be a totally different kettle of fish in the summer when it could be buzzing with activity but apart from our room we were very disappointed with the facilities not being automatically available/open to us unless we asked, so were confined to our room most evenings. Perhaps this should be mentioned on hotel booking websites.
"As I have limited mobility asked for a room with just a shower, no bath, so was offered the disabled room on the ground floor, which was a twin of reasonable size."Read full review
