I would advise against all travel to this hotel. Firstly the swimming pool was not clean and had so many insects on the surface you had to clear a pathway through the pool to swim. Over my whole stay the pool was only cleaned once and that was the day we left. Secondly when we got into our room we found ants crawling all over the beds meaning the housekeeping staff had to come in and spray the whole room with insect killer which had a very unpleasant smell that lingered in the room for the rest of the day. Thirdly the hotel is extreamly lucky in having a beautiful beach with great views of the sunset and sunrise and looks over to the South China Sea, BUT, the hotel does not allow you to swim in the sea or use any of the boats that sit on the beach. It turns out that the only things you can do on the beach are walk on it, sunbathe, or use the quadbikes, which are one of the few benefits that come with this hotel. Fourthly the bed I slept on can only be compared to a rock, having only one matress on it that was as thin as an inflatable camping mats making it the most uncomfortable 3 nights of my life. Also the bed was unstable and every time I slep in it I felt like the stands were going to give way and I was going to end up on the floor although the floor probably would've been better than the bed. Fithly we were told on the website that there would be wifi in the rooms along with a television and a phone, none of these were present. To get the wifi you had to go into the reception area which was full on mosqitos and flies. Also the television did not work and all we got to watch was a memory stick full of chinese films that I couldn't understand. Later we found out that this was due to a birds nest in the TV aerial wich no one had bothered to move. Sixthly it cost you 200 ringgit to go into town on their bus and because of the lack of anything from the outside world that was the only way you could get out. Lastly there were more staff than guests and most of them never did anything, just sat and watched adding to the lack of cherisma that the hotel has.

It took us 1 hour+ to reached the hotel which is far far away from the airport. We arrived 8pm+ and noticed that there were on 2 of us with 4 other guests in the resort. The restaurant closed after we put our luggage into the room, no other shop we can purchased food. The road to the room was dark, room given were smelly, lamp fall off. We requested to change to other room. The 2nd room given was not much better too. Lizard's sewage in the kettle, rusty fridge, room was too dim, glass in the washroom was not clean. Two queen's bed but not comfortable. The air-con is not strong enough as the room is too big and the air-con is only 1hp.

No safety box. TV channel is Malaysia RTM channel, nothing can do during night time, should at least have some Astro channels or some satellite channels. No in room wi-fi, no bath tub as stated in some of the website. We had western style breakfast with french fries, fried eggs & toast for breakfast...

We suppose to stay for 2 nights but we really regret after we entered the room, we went to the counter and asked if we could check out the next day. The staff told that she need to check with the manager but will only available the next day. We inquired again the next morning, it took quite a while for them to check and lastly we checked out that day and stayed in another hotel at 1borneo.

Expect no reply from the hotel if you email & inquiry anything with them. Need to pay & book in advance with a minimum of 6 persons in a group to view the fireflies. A lot of information provided from the website were incorrect. It's really a horrible stay. Hope the hotel will do a makeover soon.

On the way to Shangri La, we've reach that place, just curious, following signs on the road.
Raintree is remote. Main buildings are now down by fire.
Swimming pool is empty.
Beach is nice, isolated, salvage and not maintained. Haven't seen any facilities ( beach beds/umbrellas/.. )
We haven't investigated much more but think if you're not local with car, avoid that remote place without any facilities.
After that discovering , we've reach the "Shangri La Resort " with a lot of pleasure ! B each is large, salvage, and super well maintained .... piece of paradise !!

We arrived there expecting great things from a 4 star resort, only to be welcomed by unwilling staff, a dead cicada floating in the pool, two ant trails going across each bed and it would cost us rm200 to go to Touran and rm50 for each hour we stayed there. Overall a terrible find and would advice anyone to steer clear of it. :(

I have always been here since I was little. This place never bore me. but since the fire took place, this place has grown more old and a little bit abandoned. The field has been narrowed down to a small size, and there's no beach chairs by the beach. but, you can park your car in front of the chalet to drop bags/things so that its easy for you to not carrying extra weight and walk longer.

On the other hand, this resort is a good place to have peace and tranquility. its located not that far from Tuaran town, just 5-10 mins drive away, thus those who have never been here, kindly buy as much food as you wants before check in. Most importantly, during daylight, too much of flies and in night, too much of mosquitoes. So, brings insect repellents. The resort too provide BBQ Grill and you can bring your own mini stove to cook. You can cook at the veranda. Not much of choices for breakfast as it serves set breakfast with affordable price. I have not tried it cause I brought my own food.

I just hope that the management could restore the swimming pool area exactly in year 2006-2010. During that time, the jacuzzi can be used, there's a rope to divide kids area and adults swim area(1.68), the water everyday clean and there's even a basket ball nett so that guests can play water basket ball.

Overall, the room (chalet) is cheap (during weekdays) but its really affordable. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. We stay at 217 & 218(block B) located right in front of the swimming pool. We always choose this room. The staffs was really helpful and attentive (housekeeping & receptionist), Thank you Mimpian Jadi resort as you have make our 3D/2N stay very pleasantly and we are really looking forward for our next stay there.

Rooms are big, spacious. View is beautiful. However, I would like to highlight few flaws. Lighting in the chalet rooms were horrid. So dark and couldn't see a thing at night. Mosquitoes were all over the rooms and area and it was deadly. I am still suffering from excessive mosquito bites and it has left ugly scars all over my body not to mention how itchy it is! Food is so bad.The location is not geat if you dont have a cars as getting a taxi is not eASY.

My husband, kids and I travelled to Sabah last weekend to celebrate my birthday. It was a 4 day 3 nights stay in Raintree. Rooms are big, spacious. View is beautiful. Conveniently beside Tuaran beach. Pool was good. Free breakfast was the worst!!! Food is soooo bad that it is not even edible. It was troubling as we had to drag our kids to the nearby Tuaran town just to find a decent restaurant to have our breakfast! Seriously, please please improve on your food! No proper lighting all over the resort, so dark and seems creepy. Entrance signage looks like we were entering a haunted mansion. Kindly improve all flaws and make this place liveable. I must say, I kinda didn't enjoy my birthday so much as the resort was just a bummer. I am sorry, but I don't think I'll visit this place again. I really wish for this place to be taken over by a proper Management!

The location is not great if you don't have a car as getting a taxi is not easy and not cheap. The pool is very family friendly and the beach is very close which is nice for an early evening walk. The food is not great and limited and the standard rooms are very large and sparce but just ok. The chalets looked very nice though... There is nothing to do in this area so unless you have kids who love the pool I would suggest closer to Kota Kinabalu....

We arrived here late in the day on a wet raining day, it was quite a way from any city or town. The restaurant was not open (being renovated), the rooms had cobwebs and smelt a little. The only really good thing is the person looking after it allowed us to cancel our booking without any charges.

We stayed here for 8 days and it was all to long time, because you was grounded. If you wised to use the resorts bus they toke overprice and if you asked them to phone for a taxi, the nearest was from Sangria La Resort and then you had to pay dobbelt tax. You have to have a car if you choose to stay here, because they ran out of water, coca cola and other things, borth in the shop and in the restaurant and didn't get them again, so if you want to go to Turan to buy something it will cost you 300 ringgit and 150 for every hour you spend in town. There is a little shop 20 min. walk from the resort, but they don't have much, and not ordinary water. The menu in the restaurant is very small and our breakfast was not god. We tried to change it, because we didn't eat beans, fries and sausages for breakfast, so could we get an extra cup of coffee instead ? No no - so every morning we had one toast with one kind of marmalade and one cup of coffee. Our children had to get coffee to, because the waiter would't change it to juice or just bottle water... she boiled the water the first day and served it hot...never had we had such negative service and after the chock we all laughed of it every morning. The rooms was large but quit empty - the sitting area was taken away and we had to ask for a chair to the writing table...The staff didn't spend so much energy in the cleaning process with the hole place was suffering under. Much of the time we were the only guest there so it was lonely but the worst thing was the Miskito..Never have we been a place were there were so many insects and they didn't care off the spray-impeller. We were bitten every where - inside, outside, day and night - truly a nightmare. Even at the beach. When you walk a little bit outside the resort, it gets a little bit better. The resort is central if you want to go on day-trips to Mount Kinabalau but only if you have a car. Never will we go back to this terribly place.
