Located some 4 kilometres from Highway 6, in the small town of Haast, this is an ideal facility for an overnight stop. We carefully read the information sent to us by the motel, a couple of days prior to our arrival, and took food with us to cook in our room as there are very limited options to dine out locally. We received a warm welcome, which was lovely after quite a long days travelling.

Stayed one night here in the small but lovely town of Haast. Lovely room, very clean, had everything you could want and all interior items looked pretty new. Believe it or not really appreciated the heated towel rail to dry the towels after a shower and the blow heater as it was cold in the bathroom in the morning……and the ceiling fan as…….well….. that certain age!! Very quiet even though on a main road (ha, ha, everywhere very quiet here)! Got to say for us the bed was a little on the firm side, would be nice with a topper pad but was fine as on,y staying the one night. Could cook in the room but we opted for the “Hard Antler Pub” as it scored better on the reviews and although took a while to get served the staff were very friendly and the food was decent quality comfort food, great choice ov venison based meal which were good (great sausage and mash). Walk across the road from the motel, past the sheep, down a small path and onto the most beautiful, remote beach you could find, lots of wonderfully shaped fallen trees lying around the beach just to make it look even nicer. Unfortunately we missed the sunset but would imagine that would be lovely. Had a walk on the beach when we got there and another before we left in the morning, on,y two on there. Also, if a clear, dark night, it would be worth going to do a bit of stargazing, there is a strategically placed dead tree lying there just as you get onto the beach where you can sit and watch the stars and listen to the sea, beautiful spot.

Haast Beach Motel was functional and spacious. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There were also free snacks which were appreciated. Our room was only a one minute walk away from a fabulous beach - It was great hearing the crashing waves at night. There is not much accommodation in the area and we were perfectly happy staying here.

The room was very clean and cosy, everything a motel unit should be, but there are no near by eating places - a pub back in town that is very expensive for what it serves - the mini market store next door is very limited and does not really stock supplies for an overnight stay, perhaps some meals that can be popped in the microwave might be an idea. We would suggest buying food before hand if you plan to self cater. The unit had some relatively new furniture with a lovely big corner couch but the TV was behind it - rather odd really. We felt it was rather overpriced and would not stay again. P.S. there is no mobile phone service.

We stayed one night in a king studio. The room looked like it was brand new and was well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was good size with a nice clean shower and a sink with plentiful counter space. The bathroom had an exhaust fan (not common in NZ). The kitchenette was nice with new dishes and cooking implements, but no oven (which are uncommon in NZ motels). There was no closet in the room, only 3 hooks for hanging up clothes. The lighting in the room is lacking; only one overhead light and one light over the kitchen sink. The room was small but adequate for our needs. Nice, easy access to the beach.

We stayed there for a couple of nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. The apartment was modern, spacious, clean and equipment with a nice kitchenette. It is right across a beautiful beach area where we enjoyed stunning views in the evening. We used it as a starting location to explore the northern part of the national park and the beautiful west coast from Jackson bay to Monro Beach

This is really a hidden gem! Directly across the road from a gorgeous West Coast beach (top tip: don’t miss the sunset!) the sound of the waves will lull you off to sleep in your very comfy bed. I stayed in a refurbished motel room, complete with ceramic cooktop, all the usual kitchen appliances including a microwave and complimentary tea/coffee. Great COVID safety protocols in place, and my room was incredibly clean. This motel offers great value for money, and I would stay again without hesitation. The beach is super-lovely: you can wander for hours collecting treasures and watching the breakers. It’s a snapshot of NZ from back when life was simple. Go now.

We loved this motel. It is across an un busy road from a gorgeous endless heavenly natural beach. Just walk over the small bluff and you are there. The rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. Everything one could want is provided ensuite. A comfy king bed, a kitchenette which is very well supplied so we could do better than basic cooking on the well functioning cooktop. Nice cooking utensils such as new frying pans and pots. A nice sized table for two to eat meals. Nice bathroom and shower with a heat blaster in the bathroom, just in case it’s cold in the AM. Microwave, fridge to boot. Everything worked well. The manager/ owner? who checked us in was friendly and gave us dining recommendations. Everything was great here and it all came at a bargain basement price in my opinion. If in the Haast area again, I’d come back here in a heartbeat!

Stopover for the night. We had a queen studio which had a comfy bed, modern bathroom, well equipped kitchen (stovetop, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge etc) and flat screen TV with Sat dish for Freeview. Staff were friendly and helpful and gave us some dinner recommendations. Right opposite the beach entrance and 5 mins from town and meal options.

The motel is located 4 km from Haast and 200m from a huge beach which you will have practically to your self. From the outside it look pretty ordinary but our King studio apt. was quite large and well furnished. It appeared to us that it had been recently renovated. The unit contained 2 sofas, a dinnette set for 4 and a counter area for 2. The bed was a king size and very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit bigger than average and had a table and a mobile shelving unit in it. The shower was excellent with lots of water pressure and hot water. The kitchen was well equipped to with all we needed to prepare dinner. The only thing missing was a BBQ. but this was offset by the fact that the was no cost to do a wash. You have to hang your clothes to dry them but still free washing was nice.
