We here at Heritage Park Lodge pride ourselves on our spacious, comfortable family units and smaller studio units that are perfectly placed in the middle of Haast township. An easy walk to a West Coast bar and restaurant where you will find an excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and friendly locals, and a local food centre to stock up on supplies. Haast is surrounded by natural rainforest and bushland so there are numerous walks and photo opportunities to capture the beauty of the area. The river is renowned for trout and salmon fishing or whitebaiting and we are famous as a destination for great hunting. Check out the Haast - Kōkako Cycleway. There is so much to do here for those who love seeing and experiencing nature at its best. Go on a fishing or hunting trip, a jet boat river safari, numerous scenic walks or see it all from above with a scenic helicopter ride. You can explore our amazing beach, the penguin colony, walk along the riverbanks, or just relax in the sun and read a book. Nowhere is as special for seeing a sky full of stars at night, and with the rugged scenery, amazing sunsets and clean fresh air, Haast is definitely not just a 'drive through'. The gateway to Fiordland and Queenstown to the south and Fox Glacier and Franz Josef to the north, it is a very special place and well worth the stop and stay. We have an accessibility unit, family units and studios overlooking an expansive lawn and native bush or views of the mountains behind the Haast Township in the distance. There is a laundry available and plenty of off street parking for any size vehicle, even your boat. All units are ground floor so easy to access and all have free WiFi. Haast is a place where you actually feel like you are on a true holiday and we are looking forward to having you stay.

Friendly and efficient reception.
Units had a good guest compendium and a studio type arrangement with a comfortable double bed, table, complete with two comfortable chairs and a bench.
Adequately sized bathroom with very good shower, which sadly lacked the provisioning of shower gel.
Its simplicity in style and decor gave it a feeling that the price paid was greater than the worth of staying.
A limited amount of free Wi-Fi is available, but no cell phone coverage.
Located very close to a general grocery store and a couple of cafes as well as a hotel where midday and evening meals can be obtained.

I understand the management have just left and owners coming back. The managers we had were accomodating and helpful. The rooms where immaculate and have to be the best made beds with lots of sheet up top to snuggle into on a cold night. Surprisingly the rooms were very warm for middle of winter and there was no need to leave heater on over night (which would have kept me awake being so noisy). The walls are paper thin so be prepared to hear snorers and neighbours heater and the mumbles from neighbours conversations. The beds have terrible roll together so be prepared to hang onto the edge of the bed but for the price can’t expect a 5 star bed I suppose. I would stay there again for that price but if dearer I’d expect a better nights sleep.

Helpful checkin person. Room was on the small side but adequate. Clean, modern, and with microwave and toaster. The bed was comfortable.
Only problem was we could easily hear people talking on their phones in the room next door due to thin walls.

Haast is most certainly one of the more remote places in NZ. I have stayed at the Heritage Park Lodge several times and would rate it as THE place to stay in the township. You will be greeted by a warm and friendly smile, the rooms are very clean and comfortable and just 2 minutes walk away, is THE place to eat in Haast - the Hard Antler tavern.

Thank you for yet another enjoyable stay in your motel.

Owners "lost" our reservation but just happened to have a dingy 2 twin bed room left for emergencies or staff - poor staff. No internet as promised, "must be off" no AC extremely hot in Jan. All around poor choice in a very small historic town - try the other options first and use this as a last resort.
PS the Lodge is FOR SALE - good luck with that.

We stopped in on our journey from Greymouth to Queenstown. We were greeted by a beautiful lady who upgraded our room, which was lovely. The room was very spacious and clean, comfortable bedding and pillows, not flat pancakes. She was very helpful in recommendations on where to eat, we chose the pub next door, The Hard Antler, which was cosy with amazing staff and delicious food. Overall would recommend a stay here.

On our way from Fox Glacier to Lake Wanaka on 18 July 2022, the state highway beyond Haast was closed for 2 days due to fallen trees and flooding. My wife and I had no choice but to stay in Haast waiting the road to be reopened.

We were luckily enough to have stayed at the Heritage Park Motel. Chris and his wife were the kindest hosts we had ever encountered. Chris kept checking for us the road status and even allowed us to stay beyond the usual check-out time free to wait for the latest news. After knowing we had to stay for one more night, he voluntarily offered us discount for the stay. We are truly grateful for their great assistance and care.

Perfectly good little stopover place on your way up the west coast. The rooms are clean, the beds are fine, and the amenities have been well-thought out. Don’t expect five star luxury, but if you’re the kind of person who’s happy because a charging port is right next to the bed and there’s some milk in the fridge, plus toiletries and a good guest compendium with all the info you need, then you’ve come to the right place. Very warm in summer, and has no AC, but a little fan in the room worked wonders. No complaints!

Our 2 bedroom unit was very spacious and well appointed. The service was above and beyond… from ice delivery to our room, to couriering a passport left behind. Highly recommended for a long or short stay. You will be very well looked after!

Be sure and stock up on groceries and other supplies as options are limited is Haast.

We stopped overnight on our way from Greymouth to Queenstown and didn't expect too much as Haast is a very small place, but were very pleased with the place. The rooms aren't huge but have facilities to do tea and toast, the shower is very efficient and the bed is very comfortable. And the staff were great too.
