Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well run business with great communal kitchen facilities for use by campers and motel guests too. Very clean motel room with all we needed. Comfortable bed and great hot water in shower. We had kettle and toaster and fridge, reasonable price. Good service

Great staff who are warm and friendly on arrival and helpful during your stay. Our suite for 3 adults was very spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped with every possible necessity. Beds were very comfortable and the only disappointment was we couldn’t stay longer as the area has much to offer.

Reception Lady/Manager was particularly rude and unfriendly towards other guests, not just myself. This was witnessed by several people in the kitchen area and was certainly a conversation that could have been delivered in a more compassionate way. Facilities were basic but that is okay - it did the job. It is more so the staff that resulted in a poor review on this. Campground appears to flood a lot and can be muddy so be prepared if you are in a tent. Overall, I'd be unlikely to visit again despite the central location.

Inexpensive stopover between Hokitika and Wanaka. We stayed in the twin room which was fine for one night in motel style accommodation. Food options in Haast are limited (though there is a very useful supermarket in the township 2km away) so we walked to the Heartlands Hotel up the path from the motel and had a good meal there (whitebait fritters and fish and chips) using a 10% discount voucher available from the motel reception. If you want to do your washing here suggest you bring your own powder - our neighbour found they charge a fortune at reception for a larger packet than you will need.

Nice campground with reasonable facilities- beware the grumpy old fella who works there , reported a power outage in the hangar and was met with hostility bordering on aggression- would not recommend on this basis . I think he may need to reconsider his choice to work in the hospitality industry or consider counselling to curb his anger management!

Friendly staff and good facilities. I particularly liked the hanger which housed the kitchen, toilets and showers. The facilities were very clean but a hairdryer in the ladies showers would be a bonus as would somewhere to stand toiletries etc inside the shower.

We had a powered site. Site was what good. Facilities were okay. Clean, but 2 showers isn't enough. The holiday park was very quiet, only a few other campervans and we all had to wait for showers every time. Not much to do here. We'll keep driving next time and stay elsewhere.

I’ll be honest, it is not the newest campground and hotel. We’ve stayed at a powered site for a fair price. The kitchen and facilities were in an old airplane hangar (small) and were clean, but older. The hangar is actually pretty cool, but it would be possible to make it even nicer with a little renovation. All in all I’d come back and if you want to stop in Haast, this is a good option.

The place was mostly clean. The rug was a bit gross, but the beds, bathroom and kitchen area were good. The shower was a challenge if you are tall - it has a roof that is not high for tall people. As my title says, not many options though.

Huge hangar area with kitchen and bathroom/toilet areas. No timer limit for hot water showers (plus point for rainshower in the men's). Only drawback is that the laundry area was in the main office block, not in the hangar block, so need to walk back and forth abit. Otherwise, drinking water tap and power point are located right next to the powered site.
