Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for the night when on our trip across the Nullarbor. Interesting and quirky place with friendly staff, good food and cold beer. There are not too many places to stay when you go across the Nullarbor, but this one is to try.
Do not expect too much of the motel rooms, but after a big day of driving they are comfortable and roomy enough so you can relax.
BIG meals - even the truckers in the restaurant were taking doggy bags.

Driving solo with my little dog and this was the only place I could stop. I had booked by phone 2 days before, but on arrival was told a mistake had been made and I could not stay in a budget room with my pet. It was going to cost $140 but the lady I spoke to reduced the price to $120 because of the mistake they made. I was grateful for that. The room was reasonably clean, lovely hot shower, and when I asked for more milk for my coffee I was given a full cup of milk instead of the little long life capsules which are terrible. My bed was comfortable but the pillows looked a bit tired. Luckily I had my own. The carpets are stained and sticky and I do wonder why they aren’t just ripped up in favour of more durable hard flooring, especially as it’s either dry and dusty outside, or wet and muddy. Had a huge roast dinner which I couldn’t finish (so the dog scored two dinners) and the restaurant was large and clean. Friendly staff on arrival and at night. I didn’t visit the eagle as I don’t believe in keeping caged birds. We travellers need to support places like this before they are gone forever, and a pretty basic refurbishment would go a long way to making sure that we come back.

Loved it! Yes the room was dated but was so clean. The owners left the aircon' on for us which was such a nice touch as it was quite cold when we arrived. The food was lovely, home cooked, and so much, we couldn't finish it! A good selection of alcohol to choose from, super friendly and accommodating staff. A real gem in the dessert! A must do stop!

During the extreme fires around Australia we were stuck on the Nullabour Highway for six days. We stayed at the Eucla motel (which was wonderful) & had a dash to get to Cocklebidy to escape with other trapped travelers at 6am the following day. I called Cocklebidy Wedgetail & they had a room available. I was grateful they could accommodate us but at what cost! We paid $140 (which was more than our previous accommodation) for a dog box. The carpet was old stained & smelly, The bathroom mirror & sink had mud spots, furnature so old it was beyond antique more like junk yard! I was so upset they would charge what they did for this appauling standard. If I had knows I would have got up three hours earlier & stayed in Eucla.,

I have driven the Eyre Hwy many times and stayed at several of the road house motels. These are very remote places and you can't expect the quality of facilities that you get in a town closer to civilisation. All of the road houses are struggling to get staff and it must be difficult to get tradesmen to do any upgrade work, but the room I had in this motel was disgusting. It felt grimy and had dirt marks on the walls. The carpet was worn out and had been patched. Some of the furniture had peeling veneers. There was a relatively new flat screen TV but the shelf for the old box TV was still attached to the wall.

The owner needs to invest in a major refurbishment of the motel rooms and if this means a higher room rate then so be it.

The limited staff were doing their best, but it was hard to find anyone to check in, to order a beer at the bar or to order a meal. At least the meal I did eventually get was quite good and cheap.

Absolutely disgusting filthy, towels dirty charged $160.00 for revolting accommodation. Had the hide to demand a deposit as we had 2 chihuahua. The place is worse than a kennel.
Fuel price also exorbitant.
No pride in their establishment.
DO NOT EVEN STOP THERE if you can help it.

Just awful, I cannot fathom how anyone would rate this as good. The rooms are just awful, furniture belongs in the tip. Bedding is sooo old. The trucks park right outside your hotel door and the move in and out all night. Bright lights shining through the poor attempt of curtains. Beer was cold so that was the only bonus. Seriously keep driving- either border village or Belladonia. I know there is like minimal choices and they have you over a barrel and charge a bomb for seriously dubious accommodation

My wife Joanne and I stopped to fuel up, use the toilets, and grab something to eat on a Saturday afternoon on our way through the Nullarbar.. We did not stay overnight since we had already made reservations at Balladonia two hours west. That said, the facilities were cleaner than you might expect, considering that you are basically in the middle of nowhere.

We ordered a regular hamburger (which was actually huge and delicious) and a couple of long blacks. The gentleman who made both the coffees and hamburger was gracious and positive. We will be stopping again on our return trip through.

Thank you,
Joanne and Frank

Rudimentary accommodation but perfectly clean. Restaurant closed due to covid but my order for dinner was delivered to my room. The meal of grilled fish and salad was excellent (see photo) especially considering the location is in the middle of nowhere.

Cocklebiddy was a great stop over on our way into WA. We camped for the night on an unpowered site which was $35 for two people in a camper van. The camp ground was just a large dirt area. The amenities were clean enough but were the public use toilets as well. You still had to pay for a shower which was $4, the water did run for a long time though.
Aside from this, we had dinner at the bar and the food was absolutely amazing. Pumpkin soup was delicious and the parma was also great. Very nice food.
Also there is absolutely no reception or wifi.

Yes, it is pet friendly. The motel room we stayed in smelt of dog and we were told that they allowed pets in some of the rooms. It's pretty much anything goes and the rules are made up on the spot.

Yes about every 200k. but is better to take spare 20 ltr containers for fuel we took two containers there was one roadhouse that ran out of diesel and we helped out another traveler who couldnt get any so is best to be on the safe side. bruce
