Drove down from Munich for a few days here. There are a few parking spaces out the front but also more along the side of the hotel. The man who checked us in was friendly and efficient. Our room was on the 2nd floor so we had to make a few stops when carrying our cases up! The room was lovely and cosy with a little balcony looking out towards the mountains. It was at the side of the hotel so we could still hear the traffic but not too badly. There was no kettle in the room but we had read previous reviews and taken our own. Nothing bad to say about the room except the pine bed was a little creaky when I was getting out of it. Breakfast was good, just a continental one with some scrambled and boiled eggs. We ate in the Italian restaurant at the hotel one night and visited the local Asian restaurant another night - both good meals. (The Asian restaurant only takes cash payments) Would happily recommend and would stay at this hotel again.

our family stayed here for one day and one night. we did not make reservations ahead of time and were so surprised to have found such a quaint inn that could accommodate a family of 5. We had a large room with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a balcony with beautiful view of the mountains and castle. This is not a place for those seeking night life and a fast pace. This is a very quite peaceful sleepy village town in bavaria. it is a great location for those who love the outdoors as there are plenty of places to walk, bike, and enjoy an outdoor swimming pool spa. We really loved our stay here. the kids got a taste of life in a small village. the front desk was very pleasant and helpful in provideing us with tips and what to see and even offering coupons. We ate dinner at the inn and were treated to a delicious home cooked meal with excellent beer. but really where in germany would you have a bad beer? The rooms were clean and ours was quite spacious. it was nothing fancy but it sure was peaceful and what a good night sleep we all had.i guess it depends on which room you get ;but we all thought it was very charming. if you are a jet setter and used to 5 star accomodations you should probably just continue driving through this lovely village as i am sure you would not appreciate its charm.

I stayed one night in this guest house. There was parking available and the room was very spacious with a nice balcony where I could see the castle. The room was clean and quiet. I arrived on a Monday which was Ruhetag (day of rest). The keys for the room were played out when you entered the building with my name on it. It is important to keep your key with you when you go out, as the front door of the building is locked at night.

I was able to connect with the owners during breakfast in the morning. Breakfast quite extensive and typical of Germany (bread, meat, cheese, jam, cereal, etc.). I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

The room had a very good size and all the amenities that we needed. The bathroom was modern. We loved having a view of Neuschwanstein from our room. Breakfast was good. There is no elevator and I believe that all of the rooms are in the 2nd and 3rd floors. When we arrived, the restaurant was no longer serving food but there are a few restaurants nearby within walking distance; also the parking lot was full but they were able to find a spot for us by moving one of their cars. The castles are a few minutes away. Great budget hotel.

We were 2 couples travelling together and booked this hotel based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. We stayed here for 2 nights as we were visiting the three castles in the area - Linderhof Palace, Neuschwanstein castle and Hohenschwangau castle.

We were given two rooms on the second floor with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and the Neuschwanstein castle.

We arrived quite late and the staff at the reception were great. The room was a very good size with a separate seating area and a balcony. The bathroom was a very good size as well with a good strong shower. Even though the rooms were located in the front of the hotel and faced the road, there was no noise at night. Breakfast was adequate with good variety.

The first evening we had dinner in the hotel's own restaurant - the beer and the Bavarian meal was excellent and the service very good. There are plenty of choices for eating within a few minutes walk from the hotel. The second evening we had dinner in another lovely traditional local restaurant - the food and service was again second to none.

The only minus was that there was no lift and so we had to carry our bags up the stairs, but this is a minor discomfort and does not take away from the other positive attributes of this lovely traditional hotel.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who reviewed this hotel on Tripadvisor as else we would not have found this one.

The hotel is very reasonably priced for the location and the facilities it offers. A fantastic find and we will definitely be returning to this place the next time we are in the area.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean, with a nice shower stall, modern bathroom, with a hair dryer. The room was quiet and dark for sleeping. There is a nice balcony, with a view of Neuschwanstein Castle. Schwangau is a very nice village, great location for doing things in the area and near to restaurants and castles. Free parking at hotel. Breakfast was included and nice. The usual spread of meats, cheeses, cereal, breads, etc...WIFI is not free. There is a 5 Euro charge for 24 hours. Staff was helpful. There is no lift, so you do have to carry bags up several flights of stairs. Overall, a very nice property in a great location.

Looking for a hotel near Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles but not right at the noisy and crowded ticket center area? Don't want to be in busy Fussen either? Then tranquil Schwangau village is the best location. It is only a twenty minute bus ride or 10 minutes by taxi (11 Euros) from the Fussen Bahnhof. Schwangau is a picturesque Bavarian village within an easy bus ride to the castles. Or you can rent a bicycle and pedal there yourself. Gasthof Zur Post is an Alpine style hotel right in the middle of Schwangau. Across the street is the Tourist Information Center and the bus stop.
The hotel is tastefully decorated, well maintained and inviting. The rooms are of a good size, well appointed (mine had a recliner) with plenty of closet space (safe in the closet) and a small but modern bathroom. The stall shower was one of the best I had experienced on my trip through Germany. This was a single room so the foam bed was twin size.
The hotel provides a complimentary guest card that is good for free rides on the local buses. This makes going to and from Fussen and the castles a breeze. They can also make ticket reservations for tours of the castles right at the reception desk so you can avoid the long lines at the castle ticket center. Beware, tickets are for specific times and languages so give yourself enough time to get to the castles and find your way around.
The restaurant in Gasthof Zur Post is excellent with a wide variety of dishes and not overly expensive. The room comes with a buffet breakfast in the hotel breakfast room. This is quite good, a nice spread especially the cheeses, cold cuts, breads, pastries and fruit. There are several restaurants in Schwangau all within an easy walk from the hotel.
Everything worked in the room and there are ample electrical outlets. The WiFi worked well too but they charge 5 Euros for access. The room had a roomy balcony with views of the village. The hotel does not have an elevator. My room was on the third floor so I had to muscle my luggage up their elegant central stairs. The people there are friendly and helpful. They also speak English well so if your Deutsch is rudimentary, no worries. This hotel was one of the more affordable places in the area and less costly than Fussen or at the castles. I would definitely stay here again.

- no elevator, it’s actually not a problem, but when you have two big bags (20 kg each one) to take to the 4th floor, it’s kinda problem.

+ We stayed there for one night. Nice and quiet hotel. Big room with a lot of space, clean and comfortable, decorated with wood. We had a room with a balcony and beautiful view to mountains and castles. Huge and very comfortable bed. Has it’s own free parking outside the hotel. Hotel gives some discount for Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles, which we didn’t use because we were there before. It’s only 5 minutes by car from castles. Breakfast was good and fresh. Also, there’s a restaurant on the first floor with good traditional food, local beer, comfortable prices and very nice and kind staff.

My mum, husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night for the purpose of seeing Neuschwanstein castle etc. We arrived about 7.30pm and waited 10 minutes at reception before someone attended to us. After ringing the bell several times and seeing various staff go past us my husband was pretty fed up. We finally checked in and were told last seating at dinner is 8.30pm but the hostess told us they had no tables! No other option given! No smile, no sorry. And no free WiFi either.

Having said the negatives, the hotel was absolutely pretty! Very Bavarian and traditional with wood and flowers etc. Smelt lovely too! Rooms were a good size and option for a single room for my mum so brilliant. The price was also great and we got breakfast with the room rate. Rooms had a shower with towels and soaps, a TV with a list of channels available, a wooden safe and a balcony and seating area in the room. The hotel was very clean in all areas.

Breakfast was very good. A nice selection of pastries, breads, fruits, vegetables, ham/salamis and cereals. Boiled eggs available too. The staff in the morning were very polite so made a nice change from the previous evening.

A good location for the castles and lake. Would not mind staying here again.

I was there for 1 night to visit Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles. The hotel is very nice and clean. The view from the rooms with balcony are very special, you get to see Neuschwanstein Castle! It is a family hotel so it is not that big, but it is very cozy. I would definitely recomend it. From Füssen Train Station only 10 min away by car. From the hotel to the Ticketcenter approx. 30 min walking, but it is worth because of the fantastic view.

I don't know if they have someone that would help with the luggage. We asked if there was a lift and they said no and we were not offered assistance getting our luggage up the stairs to our rooms. But I didn't ask if someone could help us.
