The hotel is unfortunately from the furniture is completely overtalted and run down. Room with balcony, right on the main thoroughfare, too noisy, night though a little less but windows open does not go. The boss herself probably doesn't like her job, she just wasn't friendly or warm. We stayed with dog in a mega small room and a mega small bathroom without shower head bracket, equally old. 170 Euro...stop price does not fit!

All the other guest houses and hotels in the area looked welcoming and cosy but Das Schwanstein was in the dark and we thought it was closed. The room decor was equally uninviting but it was clean and comfortable. It is in a lovely location with views overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle and the front balcony rooms would have this view - alas ours was on the ground floor by the car park. The wi-fi is not throughout the building as stated and judging by the number of people sitting in reception area with their laptops we were not the only ones who had no wi-fi in the room. When travelling around wi-fi is necessary to find the next nights accommodation so this was somewhat inconvenient and did cause us problems the next day. The breakfast was the usual buffet style and adequate. There was ample car parking which was free. For the first time ever I broke my rule of not locating the hairdryer before washing my hair - there was no hairdryer. If you are just looking for a clean stopover and don't go with high expectations then you won't be disappointed.

I wanted to give this hotel 2.5*/3*, but tripadvisor doesn't have a selection for half a star. What can I say other than you get what you pay for, and this hotel was decent enough for the price paid, and the fact that I only spent a couple of hours here.
If you only need a bed and a shower, then this hotel will work for you. If you're expecting more, then I advise you to go somewhere else. This is a family-run hotel that seems as though it caters to the crowd of tourists who are going to see the castles and will be gone for most of the day and will return to the hotel just to go to bed.
They only serve breakfast so know that before you go as well. I had a rental car so I was glad that the hotel had free parking. I had a single room which worked for my short stay. The shower pressure wasn't that good, and the free wifi din't work well. The room itself was clean, but nothing special.
The lady who checked me in was very nice and friendly, and I enjoyed the free breakfast. I only recommend this hotel to people who have few expectations, and just need a place to crash while touring the castles.

Could not arrive due to illness and the full price was charged to the credit card, that does not even happen at the major hotel chains. We had requested 2 days before but received a response to the request only on the day of arrival. Cancellation not possible!

This hotel is dirty, the staff is extremely rude, they wont even make an attempt to help. I arrived at 12pm, and had an early tour of the castle, so I asked if my bags could be held and was practically laughed at. Then, the staff is nowhere to be seen when anything is needed. Stay ANYWHERE but this place if you even slightly value your money or time.

Absolutely not recommended! We had to cancel our arrival due to bad weather (not just a little rain) and asked for some concessions on the cancellation fees, perhaps in the form of a voucher. All we received was an unfriendly rejection and an immediate debit of the 100% cancellation fee.

The hotel was overbooked.
Instead of a balcony room, they wanted to give me a room without a balcony.
They were not willing to discount.
They were not willing to offer an alternative balcony room.
You didn't look for the error with you, but with the booking portal.
Communication with the hotel was very sluggish, most of the letters were not answered or with great delay.
Never again.

Make sure you get the room with the mountain view. The view to die for. The room was good size, nice bathroom with a tub and a balcony with the mountain view. You even could see a castle from the balcony. The restaurant down stairs is nothing to enjoy. flies were all over. May be food was good but... Parking is free and available but poorly organized. The reception lady was nice but not overly friendly.

Bedbugs everywhere!!! One of the worst experiences ever. No overnight staff so it was almost impossible to get a hold of the manager to get a different room. No apology!!! Manager blamed the bedbugs on the "Chinese guests"!!!

Nice hotel with large rooms and good breakfast.
Meal beds and good wifi.
With parking area and Italian restaurant service.
It is located near the path that gives access to the castle parking lot.
