This was one of the best if not the best hotel we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Not to speak of the view, our room had probably the most scenic view one can expect from any hotel. The staff was always friendly, happy to help and assist.
The restaurant is not only homely they also created some of the most delicious food we had during our 2 week vacation in Germany.
We can only recommend this hotel, nobody will regret staying at the Helmer Hotel.

Excellent place to stay. We stayed as a family with 2 teenage boys to see the Neuschwanstein castle. They offer free bike rentals which helped out a lot because we were able to bike to the bus that goes up the hill and it also gave us something to do as a family in the evening, which was to ride down to the lake. Excellent staff.

What a fantastic gem of a hotel. Really lovely girls on reception. Lovely staff throughout. Great food and beers. Nothing was too much trouble. Safe secure parking. Free push bike use to go and see the castle and surrounding areas. There’s a wonderful toboggan ride/luge near by. Loads of bars and things to do. I plan on booking a stay at Hotel Helmer as soon as we get back from this road trip. Excellent hotel.

Overall the hotel is clean and comfy. Bathrooms are clean and nicely sized. Breakfast was really disappointing. I would say 120 Euros would be a fair price for the offer. 150 seems a bit overpriced based on what is on offer -comparing it also with other trips this year. For example in 2 out of 2 breakfasts the breakfast "wagon" with items never came to our table and nobody followed up. Was really annoying that they didn't bring us any of the promised items. So we had very basic tasting cheese and bread rolls (aldi quality) and eggs - could have had that at home. Given that we are in the Alps, this was especially disappointing. Breakfast definitely isn't worth it and only makes a 1/10 on the scale.

We were staying in Hohenschwangua close to both castles and was told that Schwangau had plenty of restaurants. All looked pretty full so we decided to park the car and walk around the main street to find a restaurant, most places need reservations or were full, one place recommended Helmer Hotel & Restaurant which was just one street off the main road. We were lucky enough they had room. Service was good and the meal was ok. I went for the croquette and schnitzel but found I could taste the oil in both. There was a self serve salad bar which was very good. The location was ideal and the restaurant was nice and cozy. I believe there was a wedding or event going on in one of their banquet rooms.

Great hotel, Food, Experience with Hotel Helmer in Mittledorf Germany. Excellent Apple Strudel, minutes drive to Neuschwanstein Castle, close to Mountain Zugspitze (Highest mountain in Germany). This is a great family run hotel and very family friendly.

All around great hotel. Wonderful wheelchair accessible room with nice balcony. Nice breakfast in attractive dining area. Friendly staff. Great place to stay. However we personally found the neuschwanstein castle to be a disappointment with a very rushed and short tour. Not a very friendly place and felt like a tourist trap.

We visited this hotel for 3 nights,my husband myself and our 3 children along with American friends and their 3 teenage children. What a lovely hotel, from the picturesque setting with the mountains around,the beautiful red geraniums and the very comfortable rooms. We ate in the restaurant every evening and had great food, service and beer! We borrowed the free bikes one morning and cycled on the quiet roads through the stunning countryside, we visited the fairytale castle which was very closeby. All in all a great stay.

We stayed for 2 nights at end July arriving at about midnight from Munich. The owner was waiting for us with keys to let us in. Breakfast is continental but we really enjoyed the fruit as well. They have bicycles you can take for free so we spent the whole of the next day out on our bikes not returning until late. The room we had was very spacious with a balcony only complaint is the shower cubicle is really tiny. Owners are really friendly and location was perfect for us with the bonus of being able to grab a bike. We would definately stay again.

This place is a gorgeous as it is in the pictures. What a beautiful part of Germany. I wish we had stayed longer. If you are planning a trip to Germany you must put this on your list of stops and stays. The food was also really good. We had a wonderful view of the Castle from our balcony. Room 405.
