The 5 star rating of Brunnenhof is well-deserved. Its formula (appartment with hotel service) worked perfectly for us. Both facilities and breakfast are excellent. Everything is very clean and well-appointed and the style is a pleasant combination of traditional bavarian and modern/Alpine chic. Sauna’s, whirlpool, natural outside pool and indoor pool are great additions to the holiday experience and the system to have fixed times for adults only/families worked very well. The studio was comfortable and had a big balcony. The pantry is a bit small with little storage space, more suitable to warm up some soup or prepare some eggs than for “real” cooking. Friendliness of the breakfast staff and front office was outstanding. The scenery is beautiful, and we enjoyed Brunnenhof’s location outside the town of Oberstdorf. A car is highly recommended, though, as there is no supermarket in Tiefenbach and only 1 other restaurant (it was impossible to get a dinner reservation there spontanously on the weekend).
We had a very enjoyable week at the Brunnenhof during the summer holiday period. Brunnenhof was fully booked and the major part of the guests were families with smaller kids, mainly German.
If you are a couple and considering staying at Brunnenhof mainly for the wellness and prefer a quieter stay I would highly recommend to choose a time outside of the school holiday period for the optimal experience.

A very peaceful location not far from Oberstdorf. Excellent room and bed; well insulated room. A very good breakfast with plenty of choices. Some rooms have a full kitchen, others only microwave, refrigerator and coffe machines. I have used the indoor pool (11 m. long, open 7 to 20) and the outdoor hydromassage. The fitness room is open 7 to 20, has 3 bicycles, treadmill and other machines. Beautiful and clean spa (I did not use it). Everyone was vey kind and helpful.

The hotel is presented as a family hotel and the spa/swimming area is not well designed for children. Two 40x40 tiles are embedded in the indoor pool area, which apparently have a suspension that moves downwards when stepped on. These tiles are extremely smooth and very dangerous for small children, as it has quite an edge even if you are not on it and if you fall on it, you can unfortunately sustain a laceration or worse!! Spent one long weekend which prompted us to book another full week not too late after as we have simply and irrevocably fallen in love with the area and this place. The rooms and perfect size, for the 3 days 2 nights stay we had a studio apartment and during the week long stay we have one bedroom apartment and they were the right choice.
There are equiped with kitchenette or full kitchen that include dishes, pans, cooking utensils, all you need in case you decide not to eat out.
The place has own restaurant opened (at the time) Monday and Thursday only..and what a pity that is, as the food, the drinks, the atmosphere are simply amazing.
The gym, pool and saunas are well maintained and the kid/grown up schedules are good ideas as this place is attractive to families and only couples as well.
I also must add a plus..love places that allow clients to have own control over room temperature.

My first impression of the place was that it looked very nice and fairly luxurious. The lobby is decorated like a plush wood cabin.
Staff is friendly and helpful at check in and check out.
The apartment we stayed in was equipped with very good kitchenware. We had lots of towels, which is great if you want to use the pool and the gym. The apartment was spacious and clean. It's warm inside but you can turn the heating down or off if you like. Also you can open the balcony to let cool air in.
Shower is great and the bath room has two wash basins.
Internet in the apartment is not the best but I managed to get online so not a huge issue.
The restaurant is lively and frequently full for dinner so you have to book. They serve Bavarian food so expect lots of meat and dumplings. The portions are huge and not too expensive. They play live music there at dinner time. You can get a lot of beer drinking done there if that's your thing.
