We stayed at Schüles for 6 nights with 4 family members (all adults). We had 1 single room which is in the roof on the 3rd floor which was not very convenient. We had a double room on the second floor with a balcony facing the mountains which was said to be good. We had a double room at ground level which had a terrace and easy access to the pool. However the security door did not close meaning that the room was unlocked at night when we left the door open. The food was excellent, the staff were helpful and the hotel and spa were clean. The bio pool was smaller than the photos showed and very very dangerous to get in and out of as the stones were covered with algae. So be very careful. The setting was gorgeous and relaxing.

Dear Bellebutton, thank you for your detailed feedback and the time you took to provide it. We would also like to thank you for allowing us to be your hosts. Your praise for our culinary offer as well as for our friendly and helpful staff pleases us very much. If you indicate when booking that you would like to stay on the same floor, then we will of course always try to fulfill your wish as best as possible. We will promptly follow up on your note regarding the door of the room with private garden access. We would like to point out that our PanoramaQUELL is a natural pond and not a bathing pond, therefore there is no direct access.

- The fitness area (strength and endurance) is top notch;
- The Kneipp and physiotherapy treatments are perfect;
- The restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is absolutely
outstanding; regional, seasonal and FRESH!
- The wine list is excellently stocked;
- The staff is VERY helpful and friendly;
- The room: very tasteful (with a decent mattress!),
a comfortable size and with a priceless view.
- Price/performance is extremely reasonable!
Thank you, we will be back!

Great hotel with a good location on the edge of Oberstdorf, so you have a nice view of the mountains from the terrace. Breakfast was very good and also the 5-course menu in the evening. Nice spa area. So seen we had two really pleasant days here.
Room was a bit dated though. And the price - admittedly typical German - for a good 4-star hotel is already very, very, very high or massively overpriced. At least compared to other high-wage countries such as Austria...but probably you have to accept this price/standard mismatch in Germany by now.

Sept 29, 2013. We visited our daughter and son and law who had a beautiful first floor room overlooking the meadows. The four of us went for a one o"clock lunch in the dining room. A friendly receptionist at the front desk told us that yes, they were serving lunch and for us to go right in. The diningroom appeared to be about 25% full.
We were told by the unfriendly M'aitre D that all the remaining dining tables were reserved. We were sat at an unset table at the entrance to the diningroom. He told us that it was a buffet only and that we could not order a la carte. We had to ask for cutlery and only one serviette was put on the table.
We had our buffet lunch and needless to say, the diningroom never did fill up. The M'aitre D did come to the table once to tell us that "you know, you are to have a reservation for lunch". He then disappeared for the rest of our meal. Very surprising and disappointing for such a nice hotel.

The hotel is situated in a very nice place, close to the mountains and the ski infrastructure. Oberstdorf is a quite and nice small town full of shops and restaurants. There are some places for young people and for families.
The Hotel is focused on the adult people. We were a bit younger (30+38) than the average guests, but it is not a clinic for old and disabled people how someone mentioned below =) It is a very nice place for wealthy German adults (around 45-60) with a specific atmosphere of relax and silence.
The rooms are well equipped. We had a room at the new building. It was clean, well designed, full of expensive furniture. The doors were thick and the silence was provided on the highest level.
The room was also equipped with the coffee machine. And a very good coffee by the way. So we managed to make coffee in the morning right in front of our balcony with an awesome look at the mountains =) before the breakfast.
The meals were rich, tasty, good German breakfast. Lots of cheese, sausages, salads, bakery, muesli. All you need to stay in comfort till the evening dinner.
We had a package of breakfast and evening meals included with a very reasonable price. The evening meals were provided with a good choice of meat, vegetarian and fish dishes. Great selection of German and European wines and local German fruit distillates.
The SPA branch looks very well, great pool without any smells, warm hall around the pool so you can sit there and look at the snow outside trough the big windows. Near the pool you may find a large sauna, steam bath, salt bath and stuff like that. All is large and designed for big crowds so even if there are more than 5-6 people around you do not feel discomfort. Be prepared that Germans visit sauna totally naked (all man and woman together) which may affect some cultural differences.
Massage was also good as well as the room for after massage relaxation.
The hotel has a large parking (free) and you may use it for your car. The travelling from Stuttgart Airport by car takes about 2,5 hours if the traffic is ok.
For relax, rehab, city escape this place is perfect and we liked it very much.
Special thanks to Mr. Schuele (the owner) - who does not hesitate to talk to the guests in person.
To criticize a little - the hotel web page is in German only. Mostly the hotel is oriented and focused on Germans. But we felt ok there.

This hotel is located on the edge of town, about ten minutes from the centre. Oberstdorf is small so more or less everything is within walking distance.
The single room I stayed in was small but clean and comfortable. The only complaint I could make about the room as such was the small size of the bath towel. Another reviewer stated that the TV only had German channels, but I had at least 3 English and 3 French!
The breakfast was fairly average with a pretty poor selection. I did not eat in the restaurant.
As other reviewers have noted the staff are all friendly though and most speak English. The service was certainly good and had some nice personal touches.
There is also an extensive spa area, unfortunately, I only got to use the swimming pool. If you're worried about nudity, nobody in the pool was without a swimsuit.
On a final note, I would certainly say the hotel is geared towards the over 65s, it certainly has an aged clientele. So it would probably not be my first choice for a family holiday or a group of younger friends.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review and your nice words. Gladly, we will give the commendation to our staff. It’s a shame that you did not eat in our restaurant. At the evening we offer three different 5-course-menues with a grand salad buffet. We attach importance to first-class, regional products and especially to a mild preparation. For breakfast we offer our guests a large choice of rolls, bread and pastries, selection of juice, tea and coffee as well as a bio-corner with fresh fruits and cereals. Including a daily changing variety of cheese and sausage specialities. Eggs will be prepared à la minute as you wish it. We hope to welcome you again at the SCHÜLE’S and that you enjoy the next time our cuisine. Greetings from Oberstdorf to Ireland! Yours family Schüle and the rest of the team

We stayed for the first time in this hotel in May 2009. At the time, the restaurant meals were of a very good standard, and the hotel owner went from table to table in the evening to check if everything was to his guests' liking, and listened to suggestions for improvement. We stayed 10 days, enjoyed our stay very much, and another guest at a nearby table commented that the hotel was near to perfection.
We had the opportunity to go back recently, 3 years later, and our opinion of the hotel could not have changed more radically : we would now not consider coming again and could not recommend it at all.
Although the breakfast buffet is still adequate, the evening meals are to be avoided at all costs. Some vegetarian dishes had what were visibly reheated leftovers, instead of freshly cooked fresh vegetables. This was particularly shameful when it occurred on a gala night evening, after a similar vegetarian dish had been properly prepared another evening. Another time, a dish with wok vegetables and noodles was laced with old carrot and courgette bits, that were no longer whole, and which I lined up on the periphery of the plate to illustrate the problem. Three meat dishes were inedible, too tough to chew. The waiters were on the whole less friendly than 3 years ago, and menu choices were too often incorrectly served.
After we had an especially bad evening meal, we complained to the owner, and the next day we finally had a good evening meal, but it was the only one. The day after, we had two especially ghastly meals. On departure, we spoke to the hotel owner, again mentioning the poor meals, and he had the audacity to say that he hopes that nevertheless we will come back! We repeated that the cuisine standards have dropped, that it is bad enough to endure several bad meals, and that having to pay for such meals is even worse. He did not offer to refund the sub standard meals, which should have been a minimum gesture on his part.
The common areas are a bit dated and would need upgrading. The hotel entrance has several wide stone steps to negotiate, and the poor porter still has to overcome these with guests' luggage on a trolley. My suggestion of an underground car park was noted 3 years ago, but nothing has happened since. Indeed, this time the owner no longer toured the tables in the restaurant and seems to have lost interest in pleasing his guests.

Our two-continent family group of 6 stayed in the Chalet attached to the hotel. What a view! The facilities were excellent - comfortable rooms, a private outdoor sitting area, a well-appointed kitchen, and access to the full recreational facilities of the resort. The pool - fantastic! The outdoor seating and service, very pleasant. The resort is located at the edge of Oberstdorf, providing unobstructed views of the nearby mountains and the meadows fronting them. We found the full town readily available to us as walkers - shops, restaurants galore. A wonderful stay and experience.

We bookended a trip to Italy with weekends at Schuele's. This was our first time staying here, on the recommendation of our son who lives in Oberstdorf. This hotel stands out in terms of staff and location. Regarding staff, they were very attentive and anxious to please. English was not a problem except once when we returned late to a desk man who spoke a little English. But the stunner is the location. The hotel is located on the edge of Oberstdorf, where residential turns to farm land. Our room was an upgraded balcony that looked out over a pastoral scene leading up to the magnificent Alps. The hotel has a small pool and they set up loungers in the grassy meadow - great for a relaxing afternoon with a book and that view! When we returned, we requested the same room and gladly paid a small upcharge to get it.
There is a small farm with about 15 cows next door, and each early morning and afternoon they made their way along the street to a nearby pasture. The tinkling of the cowbells was such a nice way to begin and end our day.
There is a very nice spa, pool and exercise facility which we used. The only negative was the massage therapist - a mediocre experience for us.
The room we were in was not air conditioned, but we were there in late June and we just slept with the balcony doors open - temperatures were good.
The hotel has a nice restaurant, and the terrace breakfast is not to be missed! The hotel is an easy walk to the heart of downtown Oberstdorf and other restaurants.

Great resort at edge of town. Walk or bike to many destinations. Great pool or spa at end of day. Shy ladies can use the lady's spa upstairs. Great restaurant with huge breakfast and even larger dinner. Stay at least 3 nights, better 2 weeks. Bavaria at its finest.

Lieber Gast,
