We spent two nights here with the sole purpose of touring the Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein Castle areas. Owners and staff where friendly and helpful. We ate their both evening and had very nice meals. Their included breakfast was quite extensive and nicely laid out. It had everything you would want. The hotel also has a spa facility including a wet and dry sauna and a relaxation room - available for no charge if you are staying 2+ nights. We used this once and enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend this hotel when staying in the area.

We stayed here for 2 nights and the hotel is brilliantly placed. The staff, mainly from the same family, are welcoming, helpful and make their guests feel special. Cleanliness is my top demand and this was impeccable, both the room and corridors were spotless, not an easy task in high summer. The bed was comfortable, the shower excellent and the room had tea and coffee, something not always found on the continent. We also ate here one evening and the food was good too. On arrival the outside was a bit dull and the inside some might find dated but we would stay here again without hesitation!

Charming family run hotel in Friedrichshafen. Room was quaint and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful and we regretted that we were not able to have dinner in the restaurant because it smelled amazing. The owner was able to direct us to a bike rental spot and we rode on a lovely bike path through apple orchards and wineries to Meersburg along Lake Constance. Took the ferry back to Friedrichshafen. Delightful!

This is not a luxury chain hotel nor is it an expensive 'boutique' hotel. It is , however, a superbly located family run hotel/restaraunt. Very central and cosy. Rooms are slightly (quaintly ? ) faded but clean and perfectly acceptable. Price is right and includes a nice breakfast. Service is great and friendly. No elevator - if you have strength or mobility issues the third floor maybe too much. We had dinner in the hotel first night and were very satisfied. If any problems do arise the staff can quickly fix. Room has a security box. This is one of those rare gems that don't really have a WOW ! factor but does leave you with a warm nice feeling of contented happiness. Would stay here again for sure.

I cannot write up the hotel at all since we didn't stay there (wish we had though). We did eat at the restaurant, however, and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal. It is an older Gasthaus right in the center of town, surrounded by other restaurants of various types. Nothing to really draw one to the Schwanen then, but if you crave an authentic Badisch meal then I urge you to try this place. Schnitzel, Maultaschen, Kaesespaetzle (which is what we ordered), you name it, you'll find it here and I'm willing to wager you'll go away very pleased. The most difficult thing is of course to choose what dish you'd like. The staff are friendly and old-school Bedienungin, If you can mutter a few words of German you'll be fine and since Friedrichshafen is a touristy city, you will not feel out of place.

This was a surprise.. Small hotel, friendly, clean centrally located and good breakfast. The prices are fair and good. The "mini bar" is a fridge on the first floor and you just write down what you had and the prices are realy good. Will stay there anytime again when we are around!

This hotel-gasthof was delightful in every way. It is a traditional bed-and-breakfast style hotel on the beautiful Bodensee (Lake Constance). Our double room included a delicious and generous, traditional German breakfast, with all the coffee you care to drink. We also ate dinner at the hotel the first night---it was excellent. It was almost as if we were guests in the owner's home, as opposed to hotel guests. The atmosphere is traditional and cozy; the staff warm and friendly. They were always looking after us, and helping us with such things as arranging a taxi to the airport for our very early morning departure on the last day of our vacation. I am not completely sure, but it seems as though the hotel does not have handicapped access, as we did carry our luggage up a flight of stairs to our room. We did not, however, inquire as to whether they had handicapped access, so I cannot say for sure. I really cannot complain, as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while staying at the Schwanen, but, the beds were slightly hard in my opinion and I found it to be just a bit chilly in our room at night. There was a radiator, but it did not seem to be putting out much heat, even after turning it up. Again, we did not comment to the front desk about this, as it was not really an issue. Had we mentioned it, I am sure that they would have done something, as they were completely accomodating in every way. The Schwanen is a delightful stroll away from the lakefront, many shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again!

According to the hotel booking websites the hotel had no rooms available. This wasn't true - booking directly over the phone was easy. It's a modest pale blue house in the middle of Friedrichshafen's shopping area. Entrance is through the restaurant. Our room (42) was a proper little apartment with cooking, dining and sitting areas. Not bad for 90 Euro. Friendly service, decent food and good breakfast. Ideal if you're visiting the Zeppelin Museum which is 5 mins walk away, not far from the stations and buses either.
