We had chosen this hotel because it is centrally located in the Piedmont region. We were pleasantly surprised by the location and beautiful views upon arrival. Check-in went very smoothly, and we were helped with our luggage. We were able to park the car sheltered next to the hotel. Our room was on the first floor, and we had a small garden with chairs and sunbeds. The room had good air conditioning, which kept the temperature comfortable. The room was spotless and well-maintained. The bathroom is a little small but ample. There is no separate shower, so you must stand in the bathtub; the shower head is not very big but has a powerful water jet. The beds were comfortable, and the garden doors of the room could be opened at night because there was an insect screen door. Breakfast is served in the morning on the terrace with plenty of parasols. There is no buffet; you can order unlimited from the menu. All the dishes we had were very well taken care of. In the courtyard, you can sit and enjoy a drink. The pool on the side of the hotel is entirely in the sun, and the sunbeds are very close together, and there are not enough spots with shade. All the staff were very friendly and very service oriented.

Lovely private hotel in a fantastic setting. Excellent facilities and very personable staff made our stay welcoming, thank you Roberto for the walking tips.

Great breakfasts looking across the valley and enjoyed dinner one evening. Little disappointed we couldn’t eat in the hotel one evening as one restaurant shut and other fully booked, would have expected to be told about this especially given its relatively remote location. But good pasta place around the corner!

Fabulous country hotel in the Langhe wine country, with a great location in the hills, easily accessible (with a car) to wineries in Barolo and Barbaresco, and restaurants in Alba. Nicely cooler and breezier when it is hot, as it was during our July visit. Great rooms, nice views, beautiful pool, great restaurant, including a nice breakfast. All around a fantastic stay, and a really good value!

The location of the hotel is very nice perched in the middle of vineyards. Although the location is quiet, its impossible to sleep with open windows since the local dogs keep barking.
The Deluxe room we had was rather small, very simple with a tiny bathroom. The shower is far too small and did not function properly.
We stayed for 2 nights. If you are staying longer take a larger room.

The gourmet restaurant has a lovely view over the vineyards and the bistro is in the courtyard outside. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary.
Breakfast is also served with excellent choice.

Service was good and friendly.

The chairs at the pool are a little too close to each other and when the hotel is full you might have problems to find one. Theres also very little shade.

Vila Amelia benvelo
Deluxe room
Not enough lightening
Muskito net torn
Wifi very weak
Coffee : no coffee machine in the room
You get Nescafé small bags, not grains, powder.
Not enough storage space. More hangers brought to our request.
Spa facility: luckily corona time forced allocation of jacuzzi and sauna usage. Anyhow facilities are so small that more than a couple won’t fit in
No privacy in deluxe rooms, as they are on ground floor with common access area.
Wonderful view from the window is disturbed by the above mentioned muskito net which fixed
Every step of the upper level is a knock in your head, every tap activation is running noise in our room.
The shower is actually standing in the bath with a side glass which is pouring water to the floor, not mentioning the drainage of the water is very very slow
And you shower standing in water.
No welcome water, fruit or anything

We enjoyed our 6 night stay at Villa D’Amelia. The hotel is very nice with spacious rooms. Our stay included breakfast each morning with eggs, waffles, etc. cooked to order accompanied by delicious bakery items and excellent espresso and Americanos served by the attentive and friendly staff.
The only quibble would be the limited HVAC, which was not able to cool the room.

This is truly a 5 star property. First class service with beautiful rooms…some have views of the Alps. Heated pool, luxurious spa and hot tub for relaxation times. Gourmet restaurant a bit pricy but worth it but included in the room price is a complimentary breakfast. Amazingly helpful staff who are well trained in the art of hospitality. From beginning to end, it’s a wonderful property.

Now the only downside I could think of is that it is 20-25 minutes outside of Alba. Without a car, it would cost about €60 one way into the city. No taxis are available to and from the property.

But, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this slice of Italian heaven on earth.

The room is good and the food at the breakfast is great. That was the good part, unfortunately it ends there. Service at breakfast is not good as you have a bunch of students who are working hard, but without any guidance and totally inefficient. I would not recommend the restaurant for dinner to my worst enemy. The WiFi is so bad I had a flashback to the 90’s. But the worst part is the hospitality, or the complete lack of it. This hotel is managed by the “No, sorry we cannot” mentality. Really disappointing for the price paid. Written by someone with 20 years of professional experience in hospitality. Avoid this. Great building. Come here once they are able to manage the place.

Response from Mauro Tezzo, Direttore generale at Relais Villa d'Amelia
Responded 1 Dec 2021
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking some time to share your opinion with us and all the readers. We take every review very seriously, especially the negative ones. We are very sorry your stay was not good, but can now share how we managed the situation: - The breakfast has now a completely new location. It is very panoramic, cozy, bright and it is completely served à la carte. People are very happy about it, and we are proud as well. - We are aware WiFi has been a problem for long in the countryside. However, we have been reached by a new technology for the place, and have been the first ones in absolute to activate it in our area. Now we can navigate around 70-80 Mbs per second, and feel like we are in the right decade... or century! Having written this, the part I cannot share is the lack of hospitality, or the "Sorry we cannot" mentality. This has never been a thing in Villa d'Amelia, and has not started to exist recently. We have been facing problems, as everyone, we have looked them, taken the responsibility and solved them. We really hope you'll give us a new opportunity to host you, in order to try to change your mind about us. I remain personally at disposal for any need, you can contact me by writing to mauro.tezzo@villadamelia.com. Kindest

We really enjoyed our 2 stays in this hotel during our Piedmont holiday. The staff were welcoming and efficient, always prepared to help with luggage or advice. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The formal dining room had wonderful views over to the Alps, food and wine excellent. There is an informal dining area in the courtyard which is stylish and the menu limited but tasty. Dining room staff friendly and responsive to our questions and requests. The Spa and swimming pool are compact but adequate. The manager personally showed me the ongoing improvements to the fitness area and spa areas. We will remember our stay for a long time.
