Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort earns rave reviews for its refurbished rooms boasting comfort and scenic views, although a few guests have encountered smoke smells and billing issues. The resort's amenities, including adult-only spaces and family-friendly activities, are popular, despite some calls for updates. While the lively ambiance delights many, it may be less suitable for those seeking tranquility.
The beachfront location is picturesque, but the distance from the airport can be a drawback. High food costs have led to mixed feelings about value, but the staff's exemplary service consistently impresses visitors.

Loved the staff here at Outrigger Resort Fiji... we were looked after so well and treated like Royalty shout out to room service which was fantastic thank you Luisa you were amazing and our Talai Butler Vinena nothing was too much trouble... Sundowner Bar and Grill are lucky to have Ani working for them, she went above and beyond to look after us at every stage through our many meals there. She made sure we were well looked after and treated us like family same can be said for Josephine at lunch and the occasional dinner ... where do I stop Vili, Ilaitia, Susana at the adults only bar all made us feel welcome and looked after us with grace and a smile on their faces. We will be back. A huge Vinaka to the Outrigger Resort and their beautiful friendly amazing staff.

I was really worried about going on Holiday with 2 young children, especially overseas.
Outrigger Fiji was perfect for a young family however. It feels like the entire resort is catered around families and we didn't feel inconvenience at any point. Kids Club was so fun for the children they were begging us to go to each session.
The family pool is great! The kids didn't want to get out. Snorkelling is convenient and handy, although the bleaching of the reef is a little bit sad (not Outrigger's fault).
Restaurants were good but not amazing (except IVI, which is actually amazing!). The breakfast and dinner buffet is definitely overpriced. Paying over $200AUD per day to eat a basic breakfast and a decent dinner is not acceptable. It was no surprise then when all of the guests were talking about walking down the beach to other restaurants belonging to neighbouring resorts (give this a shot if you go here!).
As others have stated, take a taxi into town on your first day and load up on supplies.
There are a few negatives also.
The beds and rooms are definitely not 5 star. The mattresses are old and springy, if i slept over 6 hours I was waking up incredibly sore in the lower back.
I had forgotten what a 5 star bathroom looked like and didn't really think much of it in my room, but when I went to the Bebe Spa, I was reminded of what a 5 star bathroom should look like. The baths and showers are definitely not 5 star quality in the rooms.
For Outrigger to maintain it's 5 star rating it needs a complete renovation, new beds and new bathrooms.
Also, it seems like they are frugal when it comes to conditioner! After day 2 our room service stopped topping up conditioner. The Bebe Spa shower also had a restriction on the conditioner dispenser. Strange thing to be tight on given your guests are constantly in the pool and the beach.
Most of the staff were aboslutely great, but some of them were dry and disinterested. I don't expect staff to be overly enthusiastic, but a smile wouldn't hurt! It's why I refused to tip on receipts (where tips go into a pool and get apportioned to staff at End of Year evenly). I tipped staff who deserved it in cash. They were alwas greatful.
Would I go back? Probably! If they ugprade their rooms then definitely!

Family friendly and staff really happy and cheerful greeting you wherever you go. Pool was great and Lagoon was nice if wanting a swim in salt water. Very shallow though and coral dead if wanting to snorkel. Prices for food are expensive so a tip if wanting to save is to go to the Shop to Save supermarket in Sakatoka and by groceries or a case of beer or wine. We just kept ours in hotel bar fridge.
Grounds are well look after and lots of village stalls set up within resort every corner you turn on walkways within the resort.
Overall enjoyed our stay here but cost of food and drink prices were extremely overpriced in my opinion. To be fair though this seems to be a common trend around all the resorts where ever you go in Fiji. Definitely recommend venturing out of the hotel into town if you have a large family like we did.

Dear Lazlad123, Thanks the review. A couple of thoughts to consider; suggest snorkeling at the white markers where we have replanted the coral beds and also all resorts pricing in Fiji is generally up due to the heavy taxes on imports. Hope that helps a little. Darren

As the title says the resort is tired and I would say it’s 5 star by any means . BUT for our family it was perfect & we will be back . For our children 3yrs and 8 months the pool was perfect shallow parts for the kids to explore and play, and the big pool when the older one felt more adventurous . The nanny service was amazing especially Dee we will be back for her alone . The kids club was fantastic my daughter begged to go most days. This allowed me and my husband some me time . I’m a nervous mum as a SAHM I wasn’t sure could I leave my babies and would they enjoy it but they were so well looked after so I let go of my helicopter parenting and had the best time of family and adult time. The buffet restaurant is lacking in my opinion , and he other restaurants are $$ but great you can take food home when the kids get tired or become crazy .the pizza are good and the adult only restaurants were very good . Most of the staff were fantastic and so welcoming . The Fiji people are some of the best I’ve seen and met and we have travelled a bit. The spa was amazing , adult pool felt like heaven and cleaning staff couldn’t do enough And the evening butler service was fantastic and felt like a treat . Rosa our butler was fantastic. All up if you want 5 star maybe go somewhere else but if you want a great wholesome family experience and to dip your toe into life into adult time this isn the place. We have been to 5 star in Fiji with our daughter before and still would choose this resort over it for all the small things that make a big impact on a family holiday . The beach is not great , but the pool is great for the kids. And adult pool is relaxing. Fijians are fantastic with children this resort lives up to that stereotype. We will be back when this horrible virus passes.

We stayed for a week for a friend’s wedding.
Staff: fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble, so friendly and happy. Every single staff member provided fabulous service.
Accommodation: We accepted a quite cheap upgrade to a Plantation Bure and found it comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The shower could do with an upgrade though. Not impressed with the toiletries, not the quality of Pure Fiji that you usually get in quality hotels in Fiji. Towels were changed every day but the sheets were never changed and often our room was not made up until after 430pm.
Food: Very expensive, especially as the quality was not the best. Buffets were very average, the Sundowner grill was much better but even with half board vouchers you had to pay extra. In fact for those trying to stay within budget it was annoying to have the buffet closed for 3 of the 6 nights we were there. If you say you are 5* you need to provide quality food to match. Few healthy options for breakfast, mostly fried/sugary/high carb food. Much preferred the breakfast at the adult’s pool. Note if you walk along the small beach and head inland at the crab shack you will find a couple of cheaper and better quality restaurants.
Grounds: fabulous and beautifully maintained. Pools were lovely. I can see the attraction for families as the main pool is huge.
Activities: lots to do, especially for young families.
Public areas: looking very run down and tired, much of the furniture is very sad.
Spa: Also fabulous with a stunning view. A massage was included in our booking otherwise I doubt we would have tried it due to cost
My main disappointment was we paid 5 star prices but only received at most a 4 star holiday. I expect to get what I pay for and it doesn’t have to be 5 star, just cost should equal what is provided. Outrigger is definitely more for family holidays.

A bit of a long review, but here goes...
My wife and I travelled to Fiji with our adult children, their partners and our grandchildren. We chose to stay at the Outrigger Resort as we have stayed there several times before and had always enjoyed our time and we knew it was a place our grandchildren would have a great time. Our stay was for 10 days and our son-in-laws parents and sister had arranged to stay with us as well, making a group of 12.
To say we were disappointed with this stay would be an understatement ! The local Fijian staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a good stay, but the same can not be said about the management of the resort. Our group were booked into the top floor at one end of the resort main complex, but unfortunately the in laws were placed at the extreme opposite end of the resort buildings, despite requests to the contrary. The rooms left a lot to be desired as it all had a tired run down appearance. There were stains on the carpet floors, some of the linen was quite threadbare with holes and fraying. The televisions were old and unreliable with picture and volume issues and remotes didn't work in some rooms despite battery changes, and bar fridges did not work in 3 of our 4 rooms. Fixtures fell off the bathroom walls and air conditioning was very hit and miss with nothing changing for the duration of our stay, despite reporting of these issues.
The grounds remain magnificent and were well tended to by outdoor staff, but building maintenance appeared non existent. External walkways to rooms were cracked with lifting cement and trip hazards, many areas could do with repairing and a bit of paint to spruce up peeling paintwork. Having stayed there before, we were surprised to see that the quality and choice of food in the main dining buffet area had definitely declined, as evidenced by the lack of guests utilising this facility. The only time the buffet area was crowded was during breakfast, and as with many others we chose to eat elsewhere outside the resort for evening meals.
However, the biggest disappointment and by far the most common complaint we heard was regarding the increased cost of food and beverages at this resort. We never expected such a huge price hike and couldn't believe the prices being charged for even just light meals by the pool. This really soured our experience and certainly cost a lot more than we had originally planned for, and we are not novice travellers. I guess that would explain why all the nearby cafes and restaurants generally required pre-booking and were so busy, with a large number of resort customers dining elsewhere. There is no value for what you pay for in food and beverages and even the exclusive dining areas, although better quality food, remain very expensive. Our family ended up spending a lot less time in the resort than we had expected and didn't enjoy it near as much as on our previous visits.
We did however, achieve one of our aims... The grand kids had a great time.

The welcome did it for us! Were locals and although my husband and I had been to other hotels when there was only 2 of us , Outrigger really did it for the 4 of us this time. This trip was special as it was the first time we took our 2 kids (4 year old & 9 month) to a hotel. We knew the travel for the kids from Suva was going to be long , so we didn't want to keep the kids in the car for too long , so the 2 1/2 car ride was just good enough. I think we've been to enough hotels to know that most times , the palagis are treated a little more special that the locals. This was not the case with Outrigger this past weekend , it felt like the price we were paying was not at all justified. The Welcoming to the Farewelling was done -genuinely. We stayed in the Plantation Bure, the porter was helpful, my husband was surprised that he carried no bags, at all throughout the whole trip, my son who kaicolo the buggies had the best 1st experience , riding in the front with all safety precautions taken , the breakfast was lovely , the Sunday lunch was even better with live band entertainment. The pool was the best, i think it was specially designed for kids , so when our 4 year old wandered off , we weren't too much worried. The pool was also very clean , not at all slippery. If i can honestly say - this was the best first experience my kids ever had .All in all - We had a wonderful Intimate Family Weekend and we have Outrigger to thank . A Big Vinaka Vakalevu from One Local to another .

We were really looking forward to being able to relax. This was our first family holiday and needed a break. This has not been that break. Everything needs to be asked for over and over again.
We arrived with 2 tired toddlers to our underwhelming room with a sofa bed covered in stains which was not made up. The porter then suggested we set it up. He then after being asked again pulled it out. There was not enough pillows for the bed and when asked he threw a cushion on the bed. After I asked reception it took a day to get the pillow delivered.
We had spoken to the hotel 2 days prior to arrival requesting soy milk for a baby bottle. This was not in the room, nor when we asked at reception was it provided. When I asked at the restaurant the lady helped me. This was an ongoing saga. We needed to ask for milk and water to be replenished and it most certainly was on Fiji time.
The air conditioner had been hooked up outside to a gas bottle. It stopped working. A whole day was spent chasing someone to actually fix the issue.
Prices are ridiculous for drinks including water.
There is a great pool however the surrounds are very slippery and after watching a grandfather with two little kids in his arms slip over, with nobody offering him assistance it makes me question the Fijian hospitality. There is a lack of shaded areas available making it a scene of sunburn. There was no chairs near the beach it seemed like all that was on offer was the pool.
The talai butler reluctantly unpacked clothes when asked and I didn’t dare dream of asking them to iron.
Overall it appears this resort is too large for any personalised service or care factor. It is run down and resting on a star rating it was given a long time ago. You can get such a better experience in Fiji for far less money.
We have another 7 nights here. I’m hoping something improves!

Overall it appears this resort is too large for any personalised service or care factor. It is run down and resting on a star rating it was given a long time ago. You can get such a better experience in Fiji for far less money.
We have another 7 nights here. I’m hoping something improves!

Dear Neomi_Wayne, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to read that your arrival experience fell short of your expectations. Indeed everything should happen like clockwork and issues such as team members unpacking your suitcase should be met with a positive reaction. We do provide complimentary bottled water to Bures and milk for your tea/coffee should be replenished complimentary daily. Hopefully for the remainder of your stay, you were able to relax and the pressure of being your first family holiday is off. Safe travels Darren

We stayed at the Outrigger for a family wedding/ our first family vacation with my 12 month old for 4 days.
The resort is beautiful with amazing views, however very outdated! Really needs a renovation.
We had made reservations for a baby cot, however had to to wait an hour after arriving to our room for this.
Room light did not work and had to wait two nights for it to be rectified.
Room was quite small in comparison to other 5 star resorts in Fiji.
The sofa and rug had stains on it on arrival. Room cleanup failed to clean our mugs/ glasses - requested for follow up clean ups and was never followed up.
My family and I were very disappointed with the stay with the current state/ service of the resort. Will definitely not be staying here again.

Beautiful resort!
Loved our stay here for brothers wedding and holiday at the same time..
Staff are awesome cater to your every needs.
Rooms were clean and housekeepers would come in everyday when you are out and clean.
Sundowner restaurant food was so good.
Don’t need to leave resort as it has everything here.
Buffet Tuesday night wasn’t so good, we arrived after 8pm due to family memebers arriving late from flights and food was not good, not worth $77 and missed entertainment.
Carts are so useful for the older lot and ones that got sore feet from walking up and down due to resort being so big.
Miss the Bula and Vinaka very where you walked.
Will def stay here next time in fiji, Vinaka!.

You can snorkel straight from the resort and there are some nice fish around the area but the coral reefs and marina life around is limited
I think that depends on what you are after.
The resort has a number of activities that are free (like snorkel rental) and others that are paid (like cultural experience trips)
There are 3 levels of packages. They start at about 80/person Australian for lunch and dinner, then it is about 110 with Breakfast included and then there is a full board with drinks which is way more. Obviously there are restrictions on what you can get from each place so factor that in
There is a height "guide" which was about waist height, but the reality is anyone and I mean anyone of any size was getting on the slide
The water is pristine and inviting.
