The end of the earth…right next door to home. Hotel Pashmina wises for one thing only : to create a peaceful haven for its guests, a break from daily life and for them to be transported into a new world. For each of the hotel’s five stars we will make five promises to all of our guests : relaxation, excellent family atmosphere, unbeatable luxury, escape and an exceptionally memorable holiday. A luxury refuge This expression may seem contradictory in essence. When we speak of a « refuge », we generally invoke ideas of danger, outdoor mountain living and makeshift accommodation. However, a « refuge » can also be an area where we feel safe, at ease, far from daily troubles…a refuge is a shelter, a cocoon, an oasis in the centre of the desert, or why not a temple on the very top of the mountain, a room with a view out over the horizon ? The experience offered by hotel Pashmina is a simple one : exclusive luxury in a mountain resort.

From the minute we arrived until we left we were made to feel special. The ski-in, ski-out location, friendly ski shop, Le Base Camp and Le Explorateurs restaurants were fantastic. If anything, I’d say Le Base Camp was just as good as Le Explorateurs on several of the evenings. We loved our Junior suite on the 5th floor. The view was lovely, with windows everywhere as well as a spacious balcony. The staff were all very friendly and extremely accommodating. My husband asked for a birthday cake and champagne to be delivered to the room, and they were very helpful. All the details were perfect, down to the type of cake (raspberry), which is my favourite. This was our 2nd time at La Pashmina. We last visited 3 years ago, and I have to say, I think they have improved. One of my pet hates last time was that you had to pay for extra coffee pods for the coffee machines in the room, now this is complementary and is regularly replenished. They have also added afternoon complimentary snacks at 4pm everyday. This was a very nice touch and allowed for the bar area to be a meeting place for the guests to mingle in the afternoons after skiing. We will definitely be coming back again. The complementary shuttle bus was really good too, usually very prompt and friendly.

It has been a real pleasure to welcome you at Pashmina le refuge. Every winter is new, and we are happy you have noticed some changes like the courtesy coffe in the rooms, and free pastries for tea time. And many guests, as you, appreciate more than ever the atmosphere at Pashmina. I will be glad to forward to all the staff your lovely appreciation. With very warm regards,

... is a fantastic hotel to stay @. Excellent location, great rooms, wonderful Spa and all team members are working hard.
The only caveat that we would like to highlight is the restaurant. You have to book half board. This season they have changed the menu by significantly reducing the choices if you would like to dine à la carte instead of selecting from the proposed menu. The alternative menu is reduced to four main courses you can choose from. That makes it rather difficult and we would like to recommend to offer a wider selection of main courses as they had in the past. Two evenings, they offered buffet instead of a menu. We believe that this is not the best option for a five star hotel especially with the limited space and staff they have. There is definitely room to improve ...

The warm hospitality and excellent service by each and every one of the hotel staff is top notch. Hotel is about 5 years old with excellent rooms and is no wonder rates #1 in Val Thorens. Our family checked into the 2 bed room serviced apartment which comes with a living, dining and a fully functional kitchen. The spa is excellent as well as the ski shop. What we are most impressed is every one of the staff which are warm and friendly and exuding professionalism in everything they do. Our trip has not ended yet and we’re already planning when to come back again.

We stayed at the Pashmina for a Feb ski week and could not be more pleased with the accomodations and the staff. They would bend over backwards to meet your needs, Great ski in access for blue skiers, Ski shop on site, ski lockers with boot and glove warmers inc w\ your room. Wonderful breakfast buffet, great views, even from the sauna and hot tobs on the patio. Shuttle service at your call and beckon, amazing. The spa is fantastic! The owner has taken many seriously dangerous and exciting expeditions and the photos of them on the walls of all the halls are worth a tour! The Alpinist motif throughout is a very welcome change from the average 5 star. Pashmina is seriously above average! BRAVO! Most excellent small hotel for sure. Love it.

When you read a hotel review you want to make sure that the person writing has experience with the resort and can provide an honest review of the property vs the rest. So many reviews are from people who do not have experience in the area.
This is our 12th year in Val Thorens and we have stayed at every 5 star hotel (except 1).
Our stay Jan 26- Feb 3 was EXCEPTIONAL!
The room was very spacious, lots of room to put on ski equipment in the AM. sparkling and still water delivered every day to parch the dry altitude, plenty of products (creams etc. in the room), nightly turndown and exceptional cleaning crew (folded out clothes on the bed) Thanks Patricia!
The ski room and slope access are the best we have had. Yes, it is a little steep coming down at the end of the day, but otherwise the lockers and slope access are the best! Thank you Luke!
The Spa is amazing. Best massage I have ever had! Hats off to Eva.
The only hotel in VT with 3 jacuzzi/hot tubs including one on the slope, with bar service! (Matia, Clara and Arnaud make great drinks)
Breakfast buffet is amazing, so much to choose from 4 types of eggs, pancakes, sausages, 6 kinds of yogurt! best Chocolate Croissant I ever had. Amazing breakfast service with Jean Michel (Mimi), out coffee service was delivered to us without asking.
Dinner was equally incredible, Buffet on Friday includes Gillardeau oysters, beef tartare and so much more. Pastries by Stephan are absolutely the best, get the Paris Brest, he won a Michelin award for his pastry. Paul is the most amazing server at dinner please ask for him to get the best dinner experience.
Pauline at concierge can make the magic happen, both before you arrive and while you are there. Don't miss the excursion to Chalet de la Marine and 2 Lacs! Best dinner on the mountain.
I cannot forget the front desk Manon, Dana and Lucas who coordinated our luggage and reservations throughout the trip.
As you can tell Pashmina is a special place. A Hotel is a building but this exceptional staff across the board make this an EXPERIENCE we will not forget. Special thanks for Cedric GM who assembles all these special people into one location to create an unforgettable vacation.

The hotel generally is wonderful. In a lovely location on the piste. The staff are delightful. Our only criticism is the food in Base Camp. The half-board menu is limited and not really suitable for a ski resort. I think sometimes it tries to be too clever. Whilst the chef may not be happy with this, basic items such as hamburger and fries, chicken, fish and steak should be regularly available.

Dear Mr Morris, I thank you for your comment which is very helpful, honestly. It is very important for us to improve, and as a repeat guest, I am sure you can confirm that we have improved a lot since the beginning, 4 years ago. Still, we are already working on the menu of next year, and for sure, we will take care of your opinion. I thank you again for your help, and we will be pleased to check with you next year if we are meeting your expectations. Till then, we all wish you the best facing the Covid-19. We stayed over 10 days at their 4 bedroom suite which cost us over euro41,000. For this amount of money, we’re expecting good service, good staff, good process at check in, good concerige service. Prior to check in we had arranged a number of bookings eg ski lessons, airport transfers with concerige via email which was all initiated by us. There was no proactivness from the hotel at all. After check in,there’s no reminder to the guests to summarize our schedule or our bookings.. this is where the chaos starts. Bookings with the ski school was miscommunicated, as a result we are left being charged cancellation fees. Names of our kids at the ski school were made wrong, age were mixed up for our kids, horrible experience.
The worst of it all is our bill. Towards the end of our trip, because we had two different families at this stay, we had asked them to separate our bills. The family that left earlier had clear their bill. They then tried to charge us again for what was owe - over 3,800 euro. They tried to charge us an extra night of the hotel which is over 3,000 euro (but our entire booking was already paid via booking.com). There was a random 250 euro dining bill put to our room which was not ours. There bill from the ski school was wrong, charged us extra (obviously!). The last 3 days of our stay, we had received a new invoice with a different amount .. I had them all printed.
I’ve never experienced this at any other 5 star hotel.
What’s most disappointing and frustrating - with all the back and forth with reception on the bill which clearly there is error on their part, not one apology! Every time I called to try and explain, they just kept interrupting, justifying and would not listen to the guest. I never bother to write reviews or go as far to discredit a hotel.. I appreciate there is always two sides of a story.. but honestly with this experience, I will never go back even if it’s free. Nor would I recommend anyone to stay there.
I will say, the drivers at the hotel were amazing! The staffs at the ski shop was so helpful and proactive. Every morning they offered to help put the ski boots on our little ones.
I really hope the owner sees this because he seems to be an extremely customer service focused. Unfortunately I just don’t think he has any idea that his staff is poorly managing this.

What a hotel! The staff cannot do enough for you. They are friendly, helpful, professional and very welcoming.
The decor is very well done. Lots of attention to detail. We loved sitting in the bar and noticing different features every night.
There is a shuttle to take you downtown if you need it, although it is only a very short walk into the centre.
You can ski right to the door into a spacious and comfortable ski room where you can also hire very good quality equipment. The staff are also very knowledgeable and helpful.
The spa is very inviting. The children loved the pool and outdoor jacuzzi which over looks the piste.
We stayed in a cozy home which gave us flexibility to cook in the evenings or have a simple lunch. It has amazing views of the mountains and great sunsets.
The children were thrilled with the lovely touch of putting a Christmas tree in the room.
The Breakfast buffet was excellent. A wide range of choice with freshly cooked options.
We only tried the restaurant (Base Camp) one night and would say that this was our only slight negative. We didn’t feel it was as good as the rest of the hotel.
All in all the most fabulous stay and we will definitely return.

Inappropriate remarks from the reception staff at the SPA as well as those at the hotel reception on the day of departure. Bad faith about a misunderstanding which we will not dwell on here.
Fairly small SPA, no changing room, very few lockers, no styling table, no comfortable reception room with everything you need before accessing the pool, no slippers or bathrobe available as we were able to see it in 5-star hotels worthy of the name, especially abroad.
Even for a 5 star (type of establishment that we frequent regularly), the prices are excessive: for example in the restaurant (not the gourmet which was closed) 60 euros per person for the buffet, excluding drinks.
In the room, 120 euros for a half bottle of champagne of an unknown brand in the mini bar, which leads us to suppose that a whole bottle of this unknown brand would be worth €240.
Heating impossible to adjust correctly and reception was not of much help.
Many small details which show a mediocre level of service: For example, at the à la carte dinner we find the same small pots of ice cream as those included at breakfast (except that there they are charged around €9 per pot), a process which does not not very chic for a 5-star hotel restaurant menu.
Quite a few service errors at the restaurant, oversights, clumsiness, etc...
In addition, if you have a special diet (e.g. vegan), forget the restaurant because they will tell you to make do with what is on the menu, even if you had warned them before coming and they confirmed to you that the chef would adapt.
Terrible stomach ache one evening after dinner.
Decoration too eclectic and mismatched in the hotel.
Narrow entrance hall.
A good impression at first contact by telephone but very disappointed after the stay: Impression of "being cheated on the goods" despite an upgrade on arrival. This shows the extent of the disappointments!
At almost 3000 euros for 3 nights, we had the right to expect better service and above all better interpersonal skills from the staff with customers.
Pashmina wrongly awarded itself the 5th star.
Pashmina should do an internship at the Caesar Palace in Dubai or the Lotte Hotel in Saint Petersburg, to name just two examples of the 5-star hotels we were able to experience, it wouldn't do them any harm.
In any case, we will not come back. We will choose another establishment for our next ski trip.
Positive points: the very helpful valets and their spontaneous kindness, the kindness of the housekeeping staff, the smiling breakfast team.
Ski-in/ski-out establishment with beautiful views of the mountains.

Very nice home. Guided tour of the hotel. Arriving in the afternoon, we were easily able to reserve a table at the gourmet restaurant. Ski-in/ski-out access with a spacious and comfortable ski room to prepare for leaving or returning from the slopes. The indoor pool allows you to swim against the current. Sauna, hammock, Finnish shower and even outdoor spa with south-facing exposure.
As for breakfast, lots of choice in savory and sweet options. The mustard diots are excellent and the hot dishes are really hot. The grapefruit juice is fresh and squeezed as you go (no bottle therefore).
The room is spacious, well appointed with a magnificent bathroom. The bathroom linen is changed every day (savings could be made on this, like many hotels of this type). The bed is made in the morning and prepared for you to sleep in when you return from dinner.
The only downside is that the music in the bar and on the terrace is too loud and not particularly pleasant. Glad when it stops between two songs...

You can ski out very easily, you can ski back if you can manage a red run, but the hotel will pick you up in town, if you phone them. You can walk it takes 10 mins, but it is up hill and in ski boots carrying ski, not the best option. We managed very well with an 18 month old and a 5 year old.
