+ Bar is cosy
+ Location is good, near ski slope
+ Adult menu is fantastic
- Child menu is a disaster. They do have a child menu, but it is the adult food from the day before. They should offer real child menu
- Only one coffemachine for the entire breakfast setup
- Spa area is small
The hotel is in a convenient location for the "Diable" ski lift just a short 5 min walk but they do provide a free shuttle for those who don't want to walk or would prefer to use the main lifts which are quite far in ski boots.
The main standout for this hotel is the amazing staff, always smiling and friendly and a tribute to the owners/management.
I would have given this 4* hotel a 4.5 rating if I could as there are a few things which although not bad are worth a mention.
Firsty we had a superior room, this meant more space but in doing so we had a separate bathroom/toilet which is never that great especially when there is no sink with the toilet so hand washing is awkward. We also lacked a balcony which would have been nice as the hotel sits in a lovely location and i'm sure the views would be wonderful.
The room was so hot all the time. there is no climate control only radiators which we tuned off on day one but every night we had to open the velux windows even though it was -5 outside.
The Hotel provided complimentary water but only on day one then it disappeared never to be seen again.
The pillow's are the square European type which, for the those that have used before are great for sitting in bed reading etc but absolutely useless for sleeping although the bed linens were superb.
The Spa is small and Ok I used the sauna which was nice, the hot tub is tiny and seats 4 with a squeeze.
Lastly the food, which for a Michelin* hotel was a little disappointing this was mainly due to the fact i'm a pescatarian and my daughter is largely vegetarian and can't eat dairy. They did their best to accommodate but there is no vegetarian option only double portion of whatever vegetables are on the menu. I had fish every day and by day 5 thought I was turning into one! The desserts were all dairy based so my daughter had fruit salad or an apple.
There are plenty of lovely places in the village to eat so if given the choice again I would opt for B&B.
Also it took 3 days to realise I was being charged for water when tap water was freely available but not obvious.
The bar/lounge is a lovely escape well presented with games and books a real haven to relax although drinks were a little pricey at €10 for a glass of wine. (although it was very nice).
Overall the staff made up for the hotel shortfalls and hence the high rating. I would stay here again opting for B&B and getting a standard room with Balcony.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and professional. The restaurant staff were very good and the Sommelier excellent. The food was of a very high standard and presented beautifully. The wine list was extensive and catered for all budgets. The ‘bar’ - it was more than that, was very relaxing and the bar manager and his staff had an extensive knowledge of various spirts and were very happy to make recommendations.
This hotel for us had it spot on. Excellent food and drink, excellent staff, excellent service.
Excellent hospitality, very friendly and attentive staff, great and newly refurbished rooms with a lot of alpine flair.
The food in the hotel was outstanding: even the half-board dinner has a Michelin-Star quality. Since I do not eat meat, there was always a fish alternative available. The restaurant gastronomique, which we went to on one evening was delightful: the six-course meal exceeded our expectations. Also, the Hotel has a great wine list with exceptional French rarities at reasonable prices. Very creative and enjoyable cocktails...
Overall, great value. We will definitely come again.
The Mounier chalet is very warm and cocooning.
The room with this view of the snow-capped mountains was just sublime.
We were able to have massages at the very pleasant 5 monde spa.
On the pool side, we found it very nice that towels and bottles of water were provided directly on site.
We spent some evenings at the bar which were very interesting in terms of taste, discovering different rums but also creating a new cocktail every evening. A big thank you to Francky for these tastings.
Thanks to the chef and pastry chef for the meals which were excellent with combinations of flavors that we were not used to having.
Thank you to the entire reception team who always find an answer to all our questions, for their warm welcome, their professionalism and their kindness.
And thank you very much to Mr Mounier who we could see on all fronts.
The only downside: insufficient soundproofing of the rooms, but my fatigue or that of the neighbors saved me from this inconvenience.
The location, style and quality of the hotel could not be faulted. The staff are equally brilliant and a day or so in they already know your name and make your stay feel very personal.
The rooms are very nice and even though my terrace and view was round the back, it was still impressive.
There are little things that could be improved. The rooms can get very hot and dry (imagine it’s geared up more for the colder months in that respect) and while it’s surely worthy of its Michelin star I don’t think the menu or style of food will be for everyone. I am the least fussy eater possible, but even I was a little wary of blue prawns for example! That said the breakfast is exceptional and everyone restaurant we are at in the area was superb.
The views from and the setting of the beautiful garden are incredible. You can never tire of it.
The bars are very nice. The waiting (and all other) staff brilliant and the whole place just has a great ‘vibe’.
Location wise you are close to the ski lifts, shops, bars and restaurants. And the ski lifts take you both up to the glacier and down to the valley. Both are incredible.
The spa is good and the massage (Stephanie) was possibly the best I’ve ever had! The outdoor pool lovely and warm.
So while there are a couple of areas to improve, the highlights make this more than worthy of a five star review.
The activities close by are superb. Rafting, cycling, golf, parasailing and yes - skiing in June.
A restaurant at the valley at the bottom of the ski lift (about 10-15 mins by ski lift then a ten minute walk up the hill) was among the best I’ve ever eaten in. Simple, proper food! Cooked outside in front of you with all fresh local produce.
Would definitely return as a group or family.
This was Christal , Jessica and the rest of the team. The staff there really made our holidays extra special.
Normally i never spend time giving reviews, but this time it was an exceptional experience.
