We are two families of 7. It all starts with an outdated bill for some tiny rooms that can't possibly fit 6 people as they claimed. Added to all this is that the materials that make up the house are old and cheap, in poor condition, with broken lights, holes in the walls, just enough kitchen materials. The last straw is the kitchen and the bathroom. The first has fires that heat less than the heating, it has no soap to wash the dishes, no garbage bags, no toaster, and the bathroom lacks everything, toilet paper, the shower curtain reaches to the waist of My brother is 1.85, you can't find any support for the handle, so you have to shower with one hand, etc.
The reception is always closed, no one will be there to assist you, they only appear to give you a cleaning kit accompanied by a threat of a fine of 85 euros if you do not leave the apartment spotless. Oh and there is no wifi. This house has taken away my desire to interact with France again.

PS: We've been looking for a place to throw the trash for several days, I think I'm going to leave it at reception.

Let me start by saying I am a student, so my expectations were already low but this place probably should not even be running.
The only good thing was the location, near the pistes.
Other than that I have never been anywhere so bad. It was dirty. The staff were horrendously arrogant and unhelpful. One came barging into the room at 10:01 (no noise past 10) turned off our whole fuse box and left without saying a word. We weren't even playing music we had just cooked late dinner and were chatting. We thought someone had come to steal stuff so we all checked our luggage. He came back and yanked out our stereo even though nothing was playing?! And to top it all off pretended he couldn't speak English until he realised we had 4 linguists all who could speak French in the room. Also the fact he turned our fuse box off ruined our hot water for 3 days so we all had freezing showers. When you're a paying customer this is just ridiculous.
A group of girls in the room next to us had their room busted by police for being 'loud' and were all pepper sprayed?! It was just obscene.
You're expected to clean your room. Which we did it was pretty spotless and we were still charged for a cleaning service.
I wouldn't advise it to anyone. Not even students. The place is appalling and for families even worse. I'd give it 0 if I could.

If you're a big fan of bringing your own bedsheets on holidays and getting shafted out of your deposit then this is the hotel(incredibly basic hostel) for you. On the other hand if you're a normal human being then I'd give it a miss... wouldn't stay here if I was homeless

Pros
Close to Bergers ski area and shops/bars
Friendly and helpful staff (although reception not always open, but responded to messaging via booking apps)
Quiet, clean, warm and comfortable apartment with plenty of hot water
Great mountain views esp on the back

Cons
Wifi terrible - limited range and dropped out when in range
Apartments are compact if going with maximum numbers
Kitchenette limited for cooking but enough for the basics - please add a drainage rack
A small shelf next to the top bunk for book/phone/glass of water would be nice

Not cons but useful to know.
Bedding and towels are chargeable or bring your own.
Lack of household essentials I found annoying - washing up liquid, loo roll, hand soap, bin bags, they give 1/a small sachet of each but I’d rather pay an extra €10 for these to be supplied for the stay, than waste larger containers from the supermarket.

We booked this accommodation through Crystal Ski and I have to say we were nicely surprised. The apartments are in the Quartier des Bergers which is about a 15 minute walk to the main town of ALpe D'Huex but it is right beside the slopes, the hire shops and the ski school. Location wise it is absolutely first class! And you can virtually ski back to your door. We really couldnt complain about the location.

We were in a type D apartment. It was meant to be for 2-5 people but it was smaller than we expected. We couldnt see how you would fit a 5th person. We asked our rep and he even said that it was smaller than usual. But it didnt bother us so we didnt pursue it. We had a double bedroom, and then a sofa and pull out bed in the living room. Absolutely no complaints on the cleanliness though you do need to bring your own cleaning stuff for before you leave. Apartment had all you needed - dishwasher, cutlery, electric hob, microwave and you could rent a tv from reception I think. The view from our balcony was stunning and different every morning with the light. We were looking out onto the snow capped mountains and not the resort.

On the ground floor there are lockers, operated by your door key, where you can leave your ski gear. We were able to fit 3 sets of skis and boots in no problem.

Our major issue was with the reception. It is not open all day. Far from it. It is open for a number of hours each day and even then there were hardly ever there. Thankfully we never had any problems but if you did then it might be difficult to get in contact with them.

I would have no problem staying here again if I was going to Alpe D'Huex which I would do. The skiing is brilliant for people of all levels. We were a mixed group of abilities and we all loved it.

The only reason I wouldnt give the place 5 stars was because it was a little small and lack of attendance at reception.

The ski school meeting place is about a 5 minute walk from the door -you cant get any better! The ski hire shop we used (Henri Sport) was almost on the slopes!!!

There is also a supermarket 3mins walk from the apartments.

Eating wise - there is a great place for lunch called Chez Luigis just off the slopes with excellent food at great prices just at the entrance to the shopping centre/shops.

Apologies for the long review but I felt it was helpful to put in all this information!

From the arrival, a terrible smell of stale smoke that lasted the whole time of the stay. Pans were very dirty and the standing water with tomato sauce had remained in the dishwasher. The sheets were dirty and ripped. Wi-Fi only in the lobby.

The apartment we stayed in was stuck in the 1970s in terms of decor. Like most apartments of it's type it is on a self clean basis so we probably left it cleaner than it was when we arrived! Les Bergers is great for access to slopes and the commercial centre for lift passes and ski hire, but still lacks good places to eat. It's a good 10 minute walk to the old town for the good bars and restaurants. Ideal for cheap week of skiing.

Went with my uni group in jan 14 for a skiing trip. The rooms are very small but clean and bathroom is a good standard. It can be a little loud but it is to be expected in a cheap residence. Extremely close to the lifts (2min walk) and same to the ski hire/supermarket. Around a 10/15 minute walk to the main bars and clubs on a night.

The location is brilliant

5 minutes to the ski hire & supermarket
5 minutes to the piste (marmottes 1 lift)
15 minutes to the main bars Iglu, Smithys Etc

Our room slept 4 in two bunk beds and then a sofa bed. We had a microwave, fridge/freezer, hob & dishwasher. We had a beautiful view out the back & at the front we had a view of the mountain.

On arrival the room was clean.

In the evening sometimes there was noise from uni groups etc but this didn't bother us too much!
