Detailed Reviews
No frills apartment, not very clean, annoying, cistern noise all the time, dirty carpet, pretty disappointing for the price.
I’m need of some tlc,
Feel like I was overcharged by staying one night extra due to a cycling event it was impossible to leave on the original leaving date, paid an extra night but the WiFi key automatically expired on the original leaving day. Checking in was a nightmare, booked through “hotels ap “ they couldn’t find booking etc. after a long drive it was pretty annoying to be kept waiting whilst they sort the booking.

The residence is typical for France. Very well located near the lift that gives access to the Express alps to Berger.
You will have to go to another résidence to pick up the keys. We had some trouble when we checked in due to the volume of clients checking in, it took us nearly one hour and half to get checks in.
The appartment has all the necessary items to cook, it was clean, and well organized. Heating was ok, but no chance to regulate it at wish. There are only two sockets in the appartment which makes it difficult to charge computers, phones, wearables,.. there isn’t enough light in general.
It’s a nice place to stay and enjoy in one of the best domains in the French Alps.

For a ski lodge it is fine - not hotel stamdards - but convenient and lovely views.
Ran out of hot water on last night though.

Dirty dirty dirty. From Urine and faeces on the walls to blood on a light switch. Cutlery and crockery dusty and dirty, slime in the shower, dust hanging from the ceilings and light fittings, it was a health hazard. Reception shutdown so a hotel 1km walk away over a piste “looking after it”.
Spent hours cleaning up on our first night as there were no other options available.

Was actually in April. Quite literally the most dirty disgusting place I’ve ever stepped foot in. It was horrible. Mouldy, damp, we didn’t have running water for 3 days. It was just vile. Dirty bed sheets, windows dripping onto us in our sleep. Dirty kitchen equipment. Avoid avoid avoid!! I don’t have a single positive to talk about. The team who should have refunded us for providing us with a completely sub par place only refunded us for £60 of our stay too, and this took months. Shows how they just don’t care in so many ways. Please like I said avoid, the powers that be should really close this place down.

We would not recommend this and we decided to move mid holiday. The rooms are very basic and need urgent updating. The accommodation is far from the town and ski school - certainly not 50m from the nearest lift !

On walking into the accommodation we were all thinking this can't be right. It's was just grim.
1) When we asked for another room through the rep. (actually an Admin person she said) we were told 400 euros each extra. The apartments were very quiet so it's not like they were short of space.
2) Two power points for six people - 1 upstairs in the mezzanine and 1 shared with the coffee maker that almost spilt every time we unplugged it as it was on such a tight cord. Between us we had 6 phones & 5 tablets so the 2 power points just are not good enough for people who need to keep in touch with each other on the mountain or with family and work and now required to keep enough charge in devices for passing through airport security as it was just after the terrorist attack in Paris.
3) In the reception lobby an electric heater off the wall plugged in and wires covered with gaffa tape.(Pic attached). When I took the picture the rep still didn't realise what the problem was.
4) Two bunk beds in the corridor for adults? Opposite the toilet as well.
5) Hot water tank is above the toilet so when you use it there is a constant danger of banging your head.
6) plumbing was not up to standards and we fortunately had a plumber with us who fixed the blockage of hair from a previous guest as it was long & black given that we were all have short & grey hair.
7) fittings for the kitchen and shower were very old and once again just not enough space - no oven and dated hob technology. If the French want to continue to sell this type of apartments then that's fine but not at 2015 prices.
8) It felt like we were living in homeless hostel not having a holiday.
9) Loss of social activity because the room was so small reduced the time we spent around the table - going out every night was not an option given the high prices in bars.
10) The mezzanine ceiling was 5ft 4 inches and as we only had one person that short the other one up there banged his head a lot. Access to the mezzanine was up and down a ladder as it was too steep to be steps (pic attached).
11) We worked out that the size of the room was 15m x 6m that been generous.
12) On arrival the receptionist said we wouldn't fit all our skis into the locker. It took two days to get another locker despite the notices about security of equipment and not taking skis to the room.
13) The window above my sofa bed had a constant cold draught, other people had tried block it with tissue. On arrival I was ill for two days so spent a lot of time using the toilet and bathroom access past the food preparation area. On leaving I had a stiff neck probably from the window.
14) Unsafe
Overall too small for 6 adults (pic attached with view from mezzanine).
No storage space / wardrobes - bags and clothes had to be on the floor - not good enough
The two sofa beds were not sofa beds - they were sofas and very uncomfortable
There was a mattress under one of them but it was unusable - to set it up would require all the furniture in the room to be shifted.
This would block access from the mezzanine if people up there needed to get to the toilet in the night , or more importantly in case of fire.
Having two bunk beds right by the toilet was very unpleasant for the guys sleeping there
The towels were inadequate - too thin and too small. Would have brought our own if we had known that but trusted that they would be ok.
No were to dry ski clothing.
The table was of poor / unsafe design
A hinged part had to be lifted up,to provide an extension to the table to allow 6 to sit at it. This was not installed correctly - it sloped downwards,
meaning plates of food had to be securely held otherwise they would slip off.
We trusted Crystal to provide us with accommodation for 6 adults and feel completely let down.

Dear Derek H., We are deeply saddened that your stay did not turn out as you had wished. Please believe us that we are paying attention to every comment and we are constantly working on improvements for the comfort of our customers. We are transferring the information to the concerned services. Nevertheless, I want to add some of the points you mentioned : All the details of the apartment (surface, etc.) and equipment (bed types) can be find on our web site. To be precise, the surface mentioned there is for the whole apartment. We can understand that it seemed narrow. It is true that our apartments are more adapted for families with children. For your next stay we invite you to contact us directly so that we can provide you a personalized advice on both the apartment type and residence. Concerning the technical issues you experienced, we regret that you did not alert us during your stay. Our technical service would have found a solution for you. Regarding the remark on the ski lockers : we are aware of the issue and that is the reason we are actually looking for better solutions. Meanwhile, we allow our guests to take your skiing equipment with you into the apartment. We only ask our guests not to walk inside the building with the ski boots. We hope having the occasion to welcome you again in one of our residences. Kind regards, Thierry AMIRAULT - Manager of the Pierre et Vacances and Maeva Residences in Alpe d’Huez and the entire team

Do not stay here, ever. Came to Alpe D'Huez with Crystalski who have been helpful and for the price we got a bargain. BUT... Left our room to go skiing, checked the door was locked when we left and it was still locked when we got back, however personal items had been stolen. This can only mean that someone working in the hotel who has key access to the room is a thief. Spoke to reception in the morning and they reacted like it was an everyday occurrence, didn't offer to help in any way what so ever. Please please do not stay here, or if you do make sure you take everything you own with you when you leave for the day!

Dear Gareth P, We are sorry to hear about the theft in your apartment. We do, however, wish to point out that in such cases, the residence is not qualified to intervene. It is, therefore, necessary to make a soonest complaint at the nearest police station. Regarding the opening hours at reception, indeed reception is closed on Wednesdays. However, we do invite you to contact our residence Pierre & Vacances L’Ours Blanc, at your full disposal 24h/24h. An emergency number is displayed at reception. Having said this, you called this residence at 7 p.m., while the theft was committed in the afternoon. The receptionist too advised you to immediately go to the police to complain. Again, we are truely sorry to hear what happened and hope you look back on a pleasant stay, despite all. Rémy ZACCARINI and his entire team Director Pierre & Vacances and Maeva – Alpe d’Huez

A ski break with Sunweb( for the second time) can only be recommended 100%.
It is not luxury but more than satisfactory. Great value for money, in fact I am not sure I could find anywhere to beat it. I would recommend Sunweb to anyone looking for a great value for money ski trip. Do read booking information carefully if you are arriving late at the accommodation. It was clear in the information but I nearly missed it (my fault entirely).

Rooms small, beds smaller.
They lock ski store room at 7pm even though there is late night skiing on some nights. Reception is closed so you can't get to your locker.
The rooms weren't ready on time and dirty when we got in.
Agree with comment above. I couldnt stand up in toilet room. The water tank was at shoulder height.
Save up and go somewhere better.
