Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a week in Alpe D’Huez staying at the Alpenrose and we have no complaints. We had 4 rooms all on the ground floor and close together even though they were different types. All were very spacious and modern for the number of guests we had, I wouldn’t recommend the full occupancy though, we had 2 in a 1 bed apartment which was a double bed & double sofa bed, 3 in the larger 1 bed apartments which had the addition of bunk beds. A family of 4 had the 2 bed apartment which was 1 room with twin beds, 1 double bedroom with ensuite and a double sofa bed which wasn’t needed. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Towels and bedding are provided but the beds are not made but it took 2 minutes to do this, the towels are large and good quality compared to most French self catering accommodation. Reception is only open at the times advised, we arrived a little before 2 so had to wait to get in but not a fault of the hotel. Some rooms were ready and others not so we put our luggage in a storage room and headed out to get skis, lift passes etc, check in was not supposed to be until 5 anyway! When we returned all except 1 was ready but this was not long after 5 so a small wait was no problem. Some of our group used the outdoor pool which was very warm and we also sat in the lounge/breakfast area a few nights where you can take your own drink/food to as long as you remove your rubbish. Things to be aware of, local tax of €2.50 per person per night payable on check in, deposit of €400 per apartment which was just shown as a pending transactions and there to cover any damage or cleaning. Cleaning charge depends on room size and started at €39 if you wanted to pay, we all opted to clean our own rooms, it didn’t take much as they were spotless when we arrived unlike some other self catering I’ve stayed in. The man on reception was very pleasant and helpful when we needed him but we didn’t have many issues. The location is good for the Bergers lifts and you can ski to the top of the drive when you work out the way past club med hotel. This is the quieter end of town and there’s very little apres ski nearby, it’s quite a walk to where the lively bars are up the hill but would probably be quite cheap in a taxi. This is probably the best quality self catering I’ve stayed in and would definitely stay again.

We are still here and have found the staff to be so welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. We asked for our beds to be made on arrival. The 2 bedroom apartment was very clean, no issues.
Beds are comfy, we have an en-suite bath and shower and the other bedroom has an en-suite shower. Very modern.
Had welcome drinks last night by the open fire place.
No complaints from us.
Not checked out yet so not sure about that.

Lovely accommodation in the Bergers area of Alpe D'Huez. 5 minutes walk to the lifts and 20 minutes walk to the centre of Alpe D'Huez, possibly ski in with good snow but definitely not ski out.
Check in was pretty busy and they didn't open reception until 5pm. There was a slight mix up with one of our rooms bit it was sorted fairly promptly.
We had a 6 person room (2 single beds upstairs, 1 double bed upstairs and 1 double pull out sofa bed in downstairs living area) and with 4 of us in there the space was more than enough. Our friends were in a 4 person room (1 double bed and 2 bunk beds) which was a lot smaller but still roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. We had a good size balcony on the 3rd floor whereas our friends on the ground floor just had a bit of wood outside their room and no view.
The apartments were clean and tidy on arrival. You need to make the beds up but otherwise they're good to go. The staff were friendly throughout our stay, our friends had an issue with the door lock which was fixed promptly. We were invited to welcome drinks on the Wednesday evening with free wine, beer and snacks. We all thought this was a really nice touch, there's no restaurant but they were happy for us to order take out and eat downstairs.
Breakfast was available for €9 per person, we opted to take advantage of the €1 croissants and pan eu chocolates available from reception at the end of the day which were fress enough for the next morning.
The pool was 29-30°C so not hot but nice for a play about with the kids. It is 150cm deep throughout so not the best for smaller children who aren't good swimmers. The hot tub wasn't in use during our stay. Unfortunately we didn't use the Hammam but it was in use. You get one free use which needs to be pre booked and then you can book other uses for €8.
You get your own ski locker which is big enough for 4 although 6 might struggle if you all have snowboards.
Overall very nice with friendly staff. I would recommend it to anyone not too fussed about ski in/out. Snow was pants when we were there so there was no chance of skiing back at the end of the day.

DO NOT STAY at this "4 Star" hotel. On arrival we found our room to be incredibly dirty with stained mattresses, dirty sheets dust, grime and even skid marks in the toilet.
The staff at the hotel never gave a welcoming vibe from the very beginnig and showed no signed of hospitality, even when asking for an additional pillow to sleep with we were laughed at and told no.
Upon leaving ending our stay we ensured the room was spotless (we were only told to remove bedsheets and ensure there was no rubbish). The room was left in a much better condition than we found it and yet we were CHARGED $100 ! For what? There was nothing more we could have done to clean the room. After chasing multiple times we were advised that they have a narrow window and if they have to clean a room they will charge extra! What kind of 4 Star hotel does not clean a room as standard! DISGUSTING!
The location, pool and steam room were all very good.

Me and my friends had the holiday from hell! The hotel owner/manger was arrogant and condescending. When we arrived he greeted us by saying the room was not ready and basically shooed away for 2 hours. Regarding the site itself there was no sauna although it has been listed. No clean bedsheets and towels throughout our stay. Then upon departure you are given the option of paying €39 for the room to be cleaned or cleaning it yourselves. So we decided to clean the room and done a very thorough job, only to get charged a cleaning fee of €55. Scandalous!!

We stayed at the L'Alpenrose in March 2022 for a week for our first ski trip as a group. We arrived there after a long journey at around 4 o'clock and the rep that we was with told us that the owner is not here very much and when he rang him he refused to open the door to let us in as the room wasn't ready even though we had mounds of bags with us. Eventually the crystal ski rep got the owner to open the door.
When we finally checked in he charged my friend £400 as a security deposit for the room, £100 per person, which is a bit excessive. Even though we had already paid for all the holiday in full prior to coming as well. He then lead on to give us bedding and towels as the room wasn't already made and we was told we had to clean the room at the end of the trip, which we wasn't told prior to arriving. Then the owner lead on to say that we could book the sauna, however there actually wasn't one on the property at all.
The room that we had was dated and the two beds that we requested one was a sofa bed. For some reason the light shades were hanging down very low to about 5ft off the floor, so you would have to be very small not to bang your head on them and as well as that the cupboards was full so there was nowhere to put your food and there was only one wardrobe for 4 people so we had to live out of our case which I find disgraceful. as well as this the television which was very small originally had the sports channels on, however after two days they seemed to have disappeared for some reason and then come back on a few days later as the owner has probably not paid his bill on time, which sums him up.
As we was leaving we had to tidy the room and hover and wipe everything down, which we did. We also had to strip the bed which we made and put the towels in a bag for the hotel which we done. Overall the room was nice and tidy when we left, ready for the next group to stay in there. However when we got home it turned out the owner had billed us £48 and not explained to us why, even though we have done everything that he had asked which I find an absolute disgrace. This man is all about conning money out of people and I urge people not to stay here unless you bring deep cleaning products with you it seems like to are going to be charged from this rude, non-presentable owner.
The only good thing was the heated pool and the steam room, however the heated pool went colder as the week went on.
Also the hotel is full of dogs which is not advised anywhere online, so if you are allergic to dogs please be careful while staying here.
Overall the hotel has potential, but if you want a friendly environment that you can relax in, on your holiday without doing any cleaning up (and even if you do that getting charged for it), I 100% wouldn't stay here.
Please be careful when staying here.

Heating and room size was good. Apart from that it was so dirty- not even properly cleaned upon arrival. We had to make our bedsheets when we arrived and also take them out at the end. At the end of our stay, owner made us clean the whole room, toilets, mirrors and hoover, otherwise we’d be charged €45. Stingy with the tissues and cleaning supplies. Poor wifi as well, do not recommend at all. AVOID!

This was our 2nd stay at Alpenrose. Our room met our needs as a family of 4 staying with our dog. It was clean, well laid out and well equipped. Brilliant location in the Bergers area with lots to do for the kids and easy access to the slopes/hills for skiing/mountain biking. We enjoyed ordering bread and pastries every evening to arrive early the next morning. The swimming pool in winter was good, fantastic in the summer with plenty on sun loungers and chairs to relax. Pascale and Bleu were very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. We will certainly be returning for another stay. Thank you!

Stayed here in 1st week of March 22 for our first family ski trip. The hotel was exactly what we wanted. Modern and clean with all the facilities we needed. The staff were great and very friendly and clearly care about the hotel and the service they offer. They were a particular hit with our two sons. As was the lovely warm swimming pool. This was perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. When booking our accommodation we did not have a limitless budget and wanted the avoid ending up in a cramped, out dated noisy place which I have experienced on ski holidays before. The Alpen Rose is the opposite of this it offers great value for money. It’s very secure peaceful and well equipped. In short it’s a great place to stay and would do so again without hesitation!

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and the Manager Pascal. The room was spotless and the bathroom is very spacious. Throughout our stay Pascal couldn’t have done more for us.
The pool is great to jump in after a tiring day on the slope. Also the lit fire in the lounge is a perfect way to catch up and relax at the end of the evening. The hotel is only a 3 minute walk to the centre, where there are plenty of places to eat and drink.
Would definitely return and do the same next year
