Stayed last week in the “Residences” - check in process involves doing an inventory of cutlery and plates then signing a form. Reception hours are limited so if a problem wait until the next day unless It happens on Tuesday and it can only be fixed on Thursday (since reception is off on Wednesday). Wifi sometimes works. On a positive the rooms are ok and the staff when they are available are all very helpful - so having read previous reviews it is a management problem not the local staff.

Hello peterwong06. We thank you for this comment. Indeed, on the day of your arrival we will give you a welcome envelope with the welcome forms in accordance with the health protocols in force. You are right, we ask to control the inventory of the apartment in order to make sure that you do not miss anything for your vacation and also to avoid us to charge you anything at the end of your stay. In case of major concerns during your vacation, you have the possibility to reach us on the emergency telephone which is noted in the reception formalities. We thank you for your feedback regarding the residence team who always listen to our customers. We hope to see you again in our residence for your next vacation, this summer time? On the program, you can discover the superb hiking trails close to our residence, and stop in the nearby village to taste local dishes. Best regard, Aurélien, Manager of the "Le Cristal de l'Alpe" residence

Just got back from a week at these apartments and thought I'd write a review before I forget the details. We had a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment (sleeps 8) and it was a decent size, well equipped & with plenty of storage. I'm not sure it would have been as pleasurable if there had been 8 of us though (2 on the sofa bed in the lounge) because one of the bathrooms was ensuite, so that would have sort of meant there was only one bathroom between 6 people! There are only 2 devices per apartment for the wifi, unless you pay for the upgrade, which did seem a bit odd for an 8 person apartment!
They are in a great location, only a few minutes walk to the lift, a small supermarket right next door and a couple of bars/creperies just 2 mins walk away for a pre or post ski snack or coffee. We only used the pool once and it was warm & pleasant.
One of the reception staff, Christophe, was particularly friendly & helpful and sorted out a couple of small issues for us, no problem.
My only gripe would be that on the day of our departure, we were being picked up at 6.30am but the lobby/reception was unstaffed & locked, which meant that we had to exit the building via the side door, drag out cases along a path, through the snow and wait outside in the freezing cold for our coach to arrive. I think that for this standard of accomodation, they should pay for a member of staff to start work a couple of hours earlier on change over day, to enable guests to wait inside the apartment lobby for the coach to arrive. Ours was 15 minutes late, which felt like much longer standing out it the dark & cold at 6.30am!!!

Dear Mizzy778, Thank you for sharing your experience in our residence, Our residence benefits from a privileged location in the heart of the village of Alpe d'Huez, which allows you to go shopping, to a restaurant or to any other place without having to take your car. Concerning your disappointment on the day of departure, I am sorry that the bus was late, I understand the inconvenience in winter. You should know that we have one of the largest opening hours of the tourist residences in the resort, excluding the hotel, being open from 7am to 10pm non-stop. Nevertheless, I hope that this inconvenience on the day of departure will not prevent you from coming back to spend another holiday at the Cristal de l'Alpe or in one of our residences nestled in the heart of the Alps. Romaric A.

Great hotel, rooms where good but they need to clean air vents and top of shelfs. Especially in the bedroom. Lack of sound proofing so we kept getting security on the Door after 10pm during just low talk and even when brushing teeths. Pool/spa area is Great, jacuzzi could have been a little bit hotter. Staff is Great and friendly, even the security. Great management, good location and Great kitchen in rooms, even tough we fought with the oven a bit to get it working.

We have stayed in many good CGH ski apartments elsewhere, but this one was terrible. Our apartment for ‘6’ was tiny, dark and so badly furnished so that you could not walk around without bumping into things. The kitchen lights didn’t work, which we reported to reception 3 times but they were never fixed, along with the fan in the kitchen, which was stuck on permanently. The extractor fan in the toilet didn’t work either. There was no dustbin and some of the doors didn’t shut properly. Once the WiFi was fixed, it was extremely slow and only worked intermittently. Lots of things in the spa were broken, and you couldn’t get water as the cup dispenser was never filled. It is more like a youth hostel - before we left, we were constantly reminded of how immaculate we had to leave the apartment, or we would have money deducted. Shocking for ‘4 star’ accommodation, we will not be returning.

Dear 516eh, I am sorry that your stay was below your expectations and your previous stays at CGH. With pseudonyms it is always difficult to put a face on these comments. But you should know that we are very attached to the well-being and satisfaction of our customers. I would like to convince you that this was only an isolated accident by allowing you to spend a new stay at the Cristal de l'Alpe with all the quality of the CGH welcome and services in order to create new and magnificent memories. Best regards. Romaric A.

We travelled to alpe d’huez with Cristal Ski as a family of 5 in first week of April. The apartment is in a good location. c500m from the nursery slope from which there is a short ski to main lifts. Rental shop behind building is convenient. There is a supermarket integrated into the building which is convenient but does give a feel of living above a shop.
The apartment was spacious / boot lockers slightly inconvenient down stairs in basement.
The furnishings are basic, sofas hard foam and uncomfortable to sit on, no cushions and certainly not luxury. My bedside light did not work and pillows were very very basic. The swimming pool is advertised as heated but was verging on cold so few guests spent much time in it. The ‘hot’ tubs were temp the pool should have been at.
Biggest problem was being ripped off at end of holiday which left bad taste in mouth. At no point were we told the apartment should be left in state we found it (why would we? No one goes on holiday to clean an apartment to a state for the next guests). We spent a couple of hours tidying up and left it in good order. Staff weren’t around to ‘inspect’ apparently which was their problem not ours.
Was shocked to be told we’d been charged EUR 100 because of some crumbs on a surface and we hadn’t emptied some small bedroom bins. Apparently we hadn’t cleared the kitchen when we actually left some unused food we thought someone might want. Basically they ripped us off so be aware. They have ignored all correspondence. I wouldn’t go again, avoid

This residence no longer seems to correspond to the services sold by this chain...after more than 10 years as customers of CGH and this residence, we decided to move on, given the last vacations ruined by CGH. The responses to the reviews are well turned...always in their favor but that doesn't change the pitiful quality of the apartments, services and staff. Even the CGH complaints department no longer seeks to improve the quality of this residence and the teams in place. So avoid if you are looking for clean, comfortable and functional apartments...the new 'premium signature service' services are just nonsense...what we are offering you is: a room less than 8m2 Carrez law sold as a bedroom 2 adults...a fridge that does not close for the whole week without repair, one of the 2 showers blocked on arrival, partial cleaning with tissues from previous customers under the sofa, with a premium service paid to feel like customers vip ... and to avoid any scandal we want to offer you a packed lunch or a spa ... who are we kidding given the price of the week? A simple reimbursement for this new non-premium hotel service would have been enough but CGH prefers to lose customers.

Lots of negative points as opposed to positive points…
The site shows us incredible photos of luxurious or at least very very decent rooms.
However, arriving at the hotel was a disappointment.
The kitchen and utensils were not clean, plus there is no outlet in the bathroom, the dining room chairs are in a pitiful state (gnawed). The smell of the corridors stinks.
The only positive point is the jacuzzi and the hotel staff!!!
The pool was very cold (attention may suit some of you).
Very disappointed we will not come back.

I do not recommend this hotel.
Too old, poorly maintained, lack of staff, we had a room with a smell of mold we reported it no one came. apartment for 10 people all the chairs the backs were broken The people at reception have nothing to do with it to do with the problems we encounter in the apartment. The hotel is very poorly located. For the same price you can have much better without problem

Quiet and relaxing establishment, comfortable and well-equipped apartment, the SPA is +++, 1 large swimming pool, 2 hammams, 2 saunas and 2 jacuzzis in a large space dedicated to relaxation. Very appreciable.
Thank you for the welcome, we had an excellent stay close to the slopes.
