Detailed Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Le Christina. Yes, it's outdated and needs refurbishing but that's not going to happen since it's being demolished after this season to make way for apartments, sadly. We thought it was excellent value (half the price of the hotel we stayed in last year) with comfortable beds (though a thicker pillow would have been appreciated), good, plentiful food and very convenient boot and ski rooms. The atmosphere in the bar was pleasant and it had Sky TV. We would have liked to have WiFi in the room but could at least sit in the lounge bar to connect. It was very warm so that, having got thoroughly soaked on day 1, our clothes dried out in time for the next day's skiing. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we are sorry not to have the opportunity to stay there again next year.

Thank you for your lovely comments on our hotel. The hotel is perfect if guests are looking for a great value place to stay, close to the slopes and in the centre of resort. As you have mentioned, the beds are comfortable, food is good and staff are helpful. We hope to be able to welcome you back or to another one of the group's hotels. Kind regards, Vienna

Stayed here last week. Now knowing that it is about to be pulled down, it all makes perfect sense. The hotel is on its last legs and the rooms in particular are very poor - narrow uncomfortable beds and a bathroom unchanged for probably 30 years. Water dripping through a light fitting outside the boot room will of course not get fixed either! But the staff were friendly and helpful and the location is very good and the food was better than OK. Shame about the weather!

Thank you for taking the time to share your review on our hotel. I am glad to hear that you found the location of the hotel very convenient, staff friendly and food good. The hotel is indeed showing its age but, as other reviewers point out, it does have its character. I am, however, sorry to hear you found the beds uncomfortable and the hotel dated. Kind regards, Vienna

The family room is very small and looks quite old. Beds are below average. The breakfast is not great. But the price is very high. The good point is the location, less than few hundred meters to reach the lift.

Dear Steph, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad you enjoyed the location, which is fabulous, ski-in-ski-out and close to the resorts amenities. Your other comments, although very disappointing for us, have been noted and will be worked on and improved for future guests. Kind regards, Vienna.

Do not go here. Went with crystal over new year. Hotel is shabby and rundown, beds are uncomfortable with one thin lumpy pillow . Cleaning consists of throwing cover on bed and emptying bin. Same dirt on floor all week and didn't even wipe a cloth round bathroom even when pointed out the thick Black gunk around the wastes on Bath and sink. Water was running through the ceiling in the dinning room and as couldn't find leak were not able to use our bathroom before breakfast or dinner. Also had plumbers walking on me in room when not dressed. This place is a bad joke. Food is bland and with bought in cold desserts, usually some kind of tart that has obviously been thawed out as base is soggy, no cream or any hot option on any night. Yes staff do try and help but basically no money is being spent as being knocked down and replaced. You know this as a rep keeps bringing groups of people to a locked room off the bar where they sell the new units. Talking of bar, shabby ripped seating, no curtains , no Christmas decorations except a half dead tree with one string of lights(never turned on) and not once during the whole week did they light the fire so no not a cosy alpine Lodge its a sad depressing experience that we were relieved to leave.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Yes the rooms were basic, but nice and clean, really warm, plenty of wardrobe space and nice comfy beds.
Lots of choice each evening for our meal, real comfort food which is appreciated after a hard days skiing,
Nice bar with good quality drinks at a reasonable price.
All the staff were friendly, chatty and well informed about the area and told us the best places to ski.
No complaints, other than you won’t be open next year.
Thanks for a great holiday x

The benefits I saw are:
1. Very close to the ski area. You can ski to the front door.
2. Great food. Good variety. Catered for vegetarians!
3. Friendly and helpful staff.
4. Decent, clean and tidy rooms with bathroom.
Could do better:
1. Internet in the rooms, free or paid.

I stayed here recently on a family ski weekend and paid 896 euros for 3 nights for 4 adults. It is very well positioned at the bottom of the main slopes.
I booked it based on the trip advisor reviews and feel I was somewhat misguided by them.
The building is tired and is not being well maintained. It seems like it was built and equipped in the 1970s or 1980s and hasn't really been updated. Everything has been well used and bashed about and it doesn't look like any money is being spent on the building - unless absolutely necessary. It was however warm and clean.
I just don't understand the previous rave reviews about the food. The food was far from good and seemed to be of the cheapest quality. The breakfasts consisted of budget ingredients bought from the local supermarket. (eg cheap super U yoghurts and Harry bread).
The evening meals were similar in presentation to what you'd often find in a service station on the M6 motorway late in the evening in the 1980s. It is self service in an almost school dinner type way. . One of the nights I had luke warm cod in a butter sauce which was pretty tasteless and accompanied by congealed rice and cold peas. Another night I tried floury overcooked pasta with a watery meat sauce and brocolli. Sorry - but it really was bad.
Judging by the previous food reviews I can only think that the hotel might have had a fantastic chef who left just before we arrived?
I usually find you get what you pay for but for what I paid I think it was really poor value and quality. If I'd been staying in a youth hostel at a third of the price or less I could understand it.
The staff were pleasant but they almost seemed embarrassed by the state of the place.
It was really unacceptable for the price and I couldn't recommend it to anyone for that reason.

Booked this hotel as a friend and I were taking part in a triathlon that finishes in Alp d'Huez. It's obviously usually closed for the summer as it was manned by a part time caretaker who was also looking after another property nearby. None of the facilities (bar, dinner etc) were available. The rooms were not made up during the day, I felt like I was staying in a badly run youth hostel. The pastries at breakfast were burnt to black sawdust, crockery and cutlery dirty. The caretaker was there to 'check us in', and we saw him briefly at breakfast after he had brought the burnt pastries out. The whole place is in need of refurbishment. It is clear that the owners just opened it for the triathlon weekend to rake in as much money as they could, as it was far from cheap. I would avoid this at all costs, not only for the poor standard of the hotel, but also for the callous attitude of the owners who were not interested in the customers, merely their pocket.

yes, small ones. I didn't use it but they seemed powerful enough
Hi there, the rooms are fairly basic - think dorm room with an ensuite - soon kettles or drink making facilities. They do have tea and coffee at the bar downstairs, which I've never been billed for.
Hope this helps,
Tim
There are lots of green slopes leading from the gondola area near the hotel and also lots of blues. It is ideal for beginners and less confident intermediates.
The hotel is along the slope leading away from the gondola. It is slightly downhill so if there is enough snow you can ski down to the hotel. It is not as easy to ski out as the slope goes up to the gondola or you have to cross a road if you want to go down to the next nearest chairlift. Either way, you do not have to carry your skis far.
