Our room was immaculately clean, comfortable & cosy. Quiet & lovely views. Toiletries, water, & clean towels were provided every day. Coffee capsules should be included however. TV signal poor.
Breakfast in the restaurant was really good though a little too warm. Extra payments for fried eggs, poached eggs, omelettes etc should be provided at no extra cost. However lots of choice.
We stayed half board. The restaurant was very comfortable. Anna Louise served us each evening & was very attentive & friendly. We noticed on our last evening that she wasn’t working and so the restaurant seemed a little chaotic. Shame we couldn’t say thank you before we left. Food was very fresh & well cooked however we found the starters on the menu were disappointing and surprised at extras to pay for different dishes. The main courses, seafood buffet, cheese buffet & desserts were very enjoyable.
We enjoyed drinks in the bar before & after our evening meal. Very friendly staff & entertainment from a singer and band.
The ski room service was excellent. The best we have known. Cable car almost at the door too to take you to the slopes.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Hotel without hesitation. One of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed at for a ski holiday in France.
Another issue was with a boots dryer in the ski shop. My boots were more and more wet inside from day to day. I think the the drying system is not efficient enough for a fully loaded shelves with boots.
Also, I got upgraded skies that I needed to replace next day (were not sharp enough for icy slopes). The new skies were excellent, but, as it turned out, my friend from our group got the same skies from the beginning and without upgrading fee :) (I paid 25 euro).
The hotel facilities are excellent, the food is very good, rooms are super convenient and clean. Every day you have two bottles of water, some sweets, fresh towels, etc. The check-out time is excellent (12:00 while other hotels have it at 9:00).
I definitely would return to this hotel (this was the second time).
The hotel has ideal ski in- ski out facilities. A lift runs practically at the entrance to the ski shop, ( where my skis and boots were kept warm) making each mornings start, and each evenings end so comfortable.
Alpe d’Huez will certainly see us again, and Hotel Daria I Nor will see us and our friends next season.
A horrible experience that does not match the description on the website at all.
The cozy and cozy atmosphere is replaced by a large room which serves as a “canteen” for hotel guests. Very noisy, families everywhere, sounds of cutlery, people talking loudly... Nothing like what one might expect.
I'm pregnant, the servers guaranteed me that the whipped cream that was on my soup was pasteurized. But they also told me that the cheeses on the buffet were also. The cheeses in question: Reblochon, Tome de Savoie and Bleu du Vercors. Absolutely not pasteurized therefore. I asked to see the labels of the ingredients that were used to make the cream: I was told “of course” but no one came back.
Long service time,
Servers doing too much,
In short, for a couple's dinner, move on, this restaurant has no standing.
We were very disappointed with the service provided by the restaurant of this 5-star hotel.
Indeed, without being warned, the Amethyste restaurant (gastronomic) no longer exists and we were placed in a dining room that was basic and noisy to say the least.
The quality/price ratio is also very average compared to other restaurants in the Alpe. Very positive point, the valet service which picks up non-resident guests.
The hotel, Spa, Rooms and Ski shop were up to scratch, as well as the location and ease of connection to the slopes.
HOWEVER during 7-14th Jan 2023, we had some of the poorest food ever. It barely reaching 3* at times and nowhere near 5*.
I contacted Inghams, and informed them that 2 of our party were lactose intolerant, which he passed onto the hotel.
We requested to be on the 19:15 dinner sitting. The first couple of days, the evening meals were at best 3*, but on day 3, it appeared the kitchen went into complete meltdown.
30mins to get starters, and these were not what appeared on the menu. Rroasted goats cheese salad, the cheese cheese had come straight out of the fridge, and a pile of rocket!
Waited 1 hour for our main courses. Persons arriving in the restaurant after us were served their main courses, but not one member of staff came over to our table to explain why there a delay. Finally ended with cheese and deserts, walked out.
Lack of information from the restaurant staff was the biggest let down.
I complained to the Ingham's Rep the next day, who talked to the Hotel Manager. The next day the food was still well below 5*.
Menus changed at least once during each day, and one day twice in a day!
The lactose intolerant member, were not well catered. Last day, they put on a Surprise Desert, Chocolate Bomb, filled with cream. This fact was not informed to my friends by staff.
Alpe D'Huez skiing was great.
I cannot speak more highly of the staff at the Daria-I Nor, they are welcoming, friendly and always there to assist (with a smile on their faces) when required.
I highly recommend this hotel, for location, amenities, with the quality of rooms, food and service enhancing our stay.
The only negitive comment I can warn future guests of, is the price of drinks in the hotel bar and restaurant, even for a quality establishment in a ski resort they are exceedingly exessive.
Only slight gripe was that the meals/drinks are notably expensive. I appreciate this is a 5-star place but, wow, it is expensive.
The above aside, I can only stress again…AMAZING service from all the staff. Thank you.
