Detailed Reviews
This hotel is very well located a mere 10 minutes' walk to the city centre, next to the river (hence the name, "Windmill Hotel"). The secure and secluded car park can be very much appreciated when travelling with a full car, although one must not be afraid of hill starts when exiting! The personnel is pleasant, discreet and professional, and the reception area quite welcoming. The rooms are simple, but well organized and very comfortable. Having stayed on the car park side, we spent a very quiet night. When we visited, breakfast consisted of "continental" breakfast options only, but the self-service bar was well socked with quality products (including some locally-made yoghurts), which woudl easily and contentedly fill the traveller for the day. A nice, reasonably priced place that we would definitely consider staying at again if/when we visit Niort again.

Located in a very pleasant part of Niort (urban spaces recently developed and conducive to strolling), the Hôtel du Moulin also has a private car park which allows easy parking, which is not a detail in the center. city.
The hotel is rather spacious, pleasant, the rooms are clean, well appointed and the walk-in shower is very practical. A little stifling when we arrived (22°C), we were fortunately able to adjust the temperature to a level more appropriate to our habits. The bedding is of high quality, including the pillows, and allows for a peaceful sleep, despite a loud noise in the vicinity which somewhat interferes with falling asleep.
The breakfast room is quite correct and the buffet varied. Despite jams and honey in plastic packaging (a heresy these days, still far too widespread), the choice is sufficient to find something to eat properly. The bread was of good quality, which is not systematic in hotels.
In the end, I recommend this hotel due to its very satisfactory value for money.

I love this hotel, we are welcomed, the breakfast is very good, comfortable rooms, very neat decor. The environment along the river, islands and newly developed harbour is very typical of the area. A stone's throw from a pretty and lively city center!

A small hotel in an excellent spot for exploring Noirt. It is an easy walk to the Donjon and the old town. The room was a bit on the small side but adequate. There is a car park which quite small so I would recommend anyone to reserve a spot.

Quiet and comfortable room with a bath and a view as requested. Friendly receptionist who allowed us to check in early and check out without any rush. Good, seemingly secure, on site parking. Excellent riverside location within a few minutes pleasant walk of Niort attractions, restaurants and cafes. Reception closed in the evening and access via code pad.

Very good hotel located in the city center of Niort. However, I don't recommend it if you come for work. The neighboring establishment is very noisy, especially at night, which compromises the tranquility. It's a shame because the mattress is very comfortable.

Niort is just a short drive away from busy La Rochelle. After the hustle and
bustle of a major tourist resort (well worth a visit), Niort, just next to the
Marais Poitevin with its canals and greenery, is quietly refreshing. Citotels
are not generally luxury places, but offer good value for money and don't charge
you for all kinds of supplements (own car park, dog). Le Moulin is built in an
old mill (as the name suggests) adjacent to one of the canals crisscrossing the
town (they were needed for communication with the Marais and to provide water
for the city's tanneries. The intricate network of pumps and sluices can still
be visited).
This is the only hotel we've ever been to where the volume on room televisions
is blocked at a reasonable level. How very, very thoughtful. We've been to
three-star places where we had to try and sleep through the neighbours' movie.
The rear rooms open onto a balcony shared with other rooms.† Only snag : the
door is the only window. So if you need some air on a hot night, you run the
risk of plenty of mosquitoes (not of unwanted visitors -- the door has a safety
chain.

Room was average size, bathroom somewhat cramped but clean with a some freebies by the wash basin.
Rooms at the back can be hot, while rooms at the front can suffer from traffic noise. There is a lift, and an in-room TV. There is a linking balcony along the back which is accessible by all doors from all the rooms at the back. €54 for a double room per night.
Continental breakfast is extra and served from 7.00am which consists of good hot coffee, orange juice freshly baked local bread and croissants with butter and a selection of jams. Free hotel parking and only yards from the main Niort, tourist attractions, including the fabulous Market.
Whether you are going on to Paris by auto route or to the coast at La Rochelle it is only a matter of turning either left or right and keeping straight on, once you leave the Hotel.

Very basic hotel at walking distance from the center. Stayed here for business, but not recommended. The rooms don't have any iron and only 1 proper coat hanger. Bathroom looked nothing like the pictures and only shower gel was provided. No shampoo or conditioner. There was a bath with hand shower without any curtains to keep the floor dry.
Internet connection was quite slow and breakfast area very dark in the morning.
