Detailed Reviews
Clean and comfortable standard type of hotel room. Friendly staff. Perfect for a short stay if in the area. The hotel had a modern feel to it and there is public underground parking across the street that cost me only 4 euros for an overnight session.

Coming as part of a sporting competition, we occupied room 209 for two nights, in this hotel located about 10 minutes from Niort station. The establishment therefore enjoys an ideal location for exploring the city on foot.
Our arrival at the hotel was marked by a quick and efficient welcome and check-in, with smiling staff.
The room itself is quite large and overlooks Place de la Brèche, the emblematic square of the city of Niort. The shower room is quite small but the toilets are separate. The decoration of the hotel/room is quite basic and the choice of purple paint everywhere is quite sad and contributes to darkening the volumes, which is a shame.
The hotel also has a bar and a large dining room. Not much to complain about the entire stay.

Hotel right in the center, near restaurants, the dungeon and parks.
Parking extra around 6th per night
Room a little noisy (hair dryer, neighbor's cough)
lack of finishes during the renovation as well as a questionable sliding glass bathroom door.

As part of a business trip I went to this hotel and it was a very good surprise! The rooms are of very good qualities with a very nice view of the square. Breakfast is very good and diverse. Noted, the hotel has no restaurant, however there is enough to satisfy around the restaurant.

Spent two nights here in a family suite. Nice decor, very large comfy bed and lovely single bed for child. Very spacious room. The glass door on the bathroom not very practical or private but bathroom and separate toilet spacious and very clean.
When I booked I thought I'd read dressing gown and slippers provided but there were none. When I asked reception I was told that was only if full price was paid for the room (wasn't aware I'd got the room at special offer price) but the receptionist kindly supplied them. Unfortunately the dressing gowns had seen better days and were faded and hard so didn't use them.
We had breakfast at the hotel for convenience although it was a little overpriced fir what it was and on the second morning we had to wait while a member of staff went out to purchase more milk and bread...
Overall a comfy, calm, clean hotel, helpful staff and in the lovely town of Niort.

When we travel and find ourselves absolutely exhausted at the end of the day, we seek out a hotel brand we have come to trust. It needs to be clean, quiet, have comfortable bedding, and provide some reasonable level of service. In older cities (like Niort) with older properties, we expect to find some quirky features, but that often adds to the charm.
This place, though, is a disaster that deserves neither the number of stars (4) nor the Best Western name. Its location is wonderful: Central to the dining and commercial district; adjacent to a large lovely park; underground municipal parking nearby.
The lobby is small and one person serves as receptionist, reservation clerk, bell person if needed, and bartender/server for the adjacent lounge. I parked the car as my wife dealt with the check-in. She was given a key to room 206, a “Preference” room according to our confirmation, and directed to the elevator. That room was occupied however, and my wife returned to the lobby. The young lady went back to 206 to verify this, then gave my wife a key to 106. It was a dusty, musty, room with a divided bath; toilet in a small closet near the entry door and a sink and shower in another room on the far side of the bed. There was one bath towel and one hand towel provided for this “double” room. The room was stuffy and we turned on the AC but nothing happened; the heat didn’t work either. The room lighting was dim and the carpet needed a good cleaning; the windows needed scrubbing.
We returned to the lobby but there was no one there. Apparently she also has duties in the rear of the hotel and we could not locate her. There were some school-aged children in the lounge area, but no one else. We went to dinner and returned, hoping to speak to someone in the lobby, but again it was vacant. We heard some voices coming from another room, probably the kitchen, but still couldn’t find anyone.
We would have liked to have operating AC and another set of towels, at least.
Finally, we just retreated to our room, went to bed (the bedding was fine), and resolved to leave early the next day, which we did.
Best Western should take a much closer look at this property and either enforce its standards or cut the cord with the franchisee. This is an embarrassment to the brand.
