Niort was a good halfway point on our journey to our campsite to have a stopover. My criteria for the hotel was clean, affordable, with family rooms and a private car park (essential when the car is full to bulging!). On paper Hotel Du Parc filled the brief.
It IS an unassuming little hotel but it fulfilled our criteria better than expected. I had asked for a 'quad' room for ourselves and our two children. What we got was two rooms with an adjoining door. Perfect! Two ensuites, one with just a shower and one with a shower over the bath - fantastic for avoiding the 'four people trying to get ready at once' problem. The rooms WERE small and basically appointed. But this isn't the Four Seasons and our expectations were in accordance to that. What it was was clean, friendly and handy for a wander around Niort itself.
Small improvements could be made by the option of more towels and pillows. However, the free Wifi was a nice surprised. Breakfast was a basic continental affair - few options but filled us up nicely. Our rooms were facing on to a cemetery - be warned if you have a problem with that sort of thing, but we thought it was rather beautiful.
When you walk out of the hotel, you turn to the left and at the bottom of the street is a large green area behind the train station. There are plenty of restaurants but bare in mind that most don't serve dinner until 7. Consider that when planning a day travelling with children!
Niort is much prettier than I imagined with a lovely square and Castle. The river runs behind the castle and is worth having a stroll around.

Small and dated rooms. The toilets are completely cramped with a small shower sheltered by a curtain that you have permanently on your back.
A bedside lamp does not work.
Very low-end bedding, unworthy of a 3-star hotel.
In addition, the night is far too expensive in relation to the service.

Lovely hotel just 5 minutes walk to centre of town,lots of shops,bars and restaurants around.
Plenty of parking and garage for motorbike
Friendly and helpful staff
Breakfast had lovely choice and reception had leaflets and maps if needed to help for things etc to do

I was travelling with a friend to Toulouse. As Niort was at about the halfway point we wanted a room for two with Parking, WiFi and within easy walking distance of food. There were no rooms available with two single beds so we booked into a room for three persons at around the same price. The room was clean and spacious and the beds comfortable. This hotel fulfilled all of our needs.
Because it met all of our needs, we also stayed at this hotel on our return journey so I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
The host and hostess of the hotel are a delightful couple which always adds to the experience.

We broke down on the motorway & had to be towed to a nearby garage at 3.30 am. The AA arranged for us to stay at this hotel as it was the only hotel answering at this time in the morning. It took us another hour & half to find the hotel through the narrow one way streets of Niord but the manageress stayed up to greet us & even telephoned the Boulanger on our arrival to ensure we had fresh croissants & bread for breakfast. The rooms were small but very clean & comfortable. Breakfast very nice & the owners allowed us to leave our car in the car park as long as we wanted while we looked around the centre of Niort., they were really pleasant & helpful despite not speaking a word of English. If we were ever in this area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Just goes to show it's all about the service not the star rating!

Please be careful with this one, the mattress springs stuck in me all night and we really needed the sleep as we were heading back to the ferry so a very long drive. The hotel is nice, the staff are friendly the local restaurants are great however the bed ruined it. Bathrooms are built into what used to be wardrobes. My fault you get what you pay for and at £37 what did I expect.
