Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the PERFECT place to stay for our first night in NZ. We arrived late, but Jan welcomed us in. She had already turned on the heater on the bed so it was warm when we arrived. Very comfortable, homey, bright, clean room with plenty of space, and a large private bathroom. The guest room is on the first floor adjacent to a kitchenette in a room with Jan's art gallery. It was fun to wander around and look at the art. In the morning we found plenty of breakfast options including yogurt and toast/jam. She even had gluten-free bread waiting for me! The views in the morning were ASTOUNDING. I had never seen anything like it. Absolutely gorgeous property, driving around in the morning was fantastic. Jan called the boat tour for us to make sure they knew we were coming on the glass bottom boat ride. That was a bit hard to find, but it was lovely exploring the area. Highly recommend!! Oh good internet too!

From the moment we arrived Jan made us feel very welcome. She was very helpful and had thought of everything we might require. The location is perfect and very convenient. On the front lawn the views extend right along the coast. The sea views from our lounge/bedroom were amazing ranging from rough to tranquil seas. The queen bed was very comfortable. As the weather wasn't marvellous we weren't able to take advantage of the very close swimming areas, nor the many lovely walks closeby but intend to return in the Summer. Sawmill cafe can be reached by foot and Matakana shops are only 10 minutes away. The continental breakfast Jan provided gave us many choices and was very convenient as we could eat when we wanted. We would thoroughly recommend this B&B to anyone who is seeking a relaxing stay with many choices of activities, places to explore and wonderful eating experiences.

We stayed one night in January 2015 - a stop over on the way to Bay of Islands. The place was perfect for us - two adults and one 3 year old kid. It had a small living room where we could hang out while the kid was sleeping. The house had a fantastic view of the sea. The lady who owned the house was very nice and guided us to beach and dinner places. Leigh is a beautiful little spot and we could have spend more days there.

An absolutly beautiful place, and great Base for some lovely surroundings. The shower is in the main house but you can access at any time. Host Jan was a treasure, and so accommodating, providing us with beach towels we forgot. You are able to swim below a two minute clamber down the rocks. Breakfast continental, but plenty of choices, cereals, breads, yoghurt and fruits and extras like biscuits for your tea. :-)

This B&B gave us the perfect start to our stay in New Zealand. While we only stayed here one night, we would definitely use it as a home base to explore more of the area on our next trip. Jan - the owner - is absolutely wonderful. She really cares about making sure that you really feel at home, and the full continental breakfast was great! She made sure we had all that we needed, from items for snorkeling to reservations for a wonderful dinner. The location of the B & B is spectacular with lots of great views from the top floor and from the cliff. It was a fantastic sanctuary for our family of 4!

This is a hidden jewel located on a cliff top overlooking the ocean with views to take your breath away. Jan, the Owner, is so warm and welcoming we felt at home instantly. The B&B has a double / Queen bed on the Top floor and 2 single beds on the ground floor. All very clean and tidy, and a full continental breakfast is provided. The Cottage, has Tea Coffee, Fridge facilities and a toilet built in. A full bathroom is available in the main building which is accessible anytime. Will be back again...

A wonderful Place to relax after a busy time snorkelling at Goat Island, visiting the Matakana market or simply walking home from the Sawmill Cafe. The self-contained and spacious rooms are light and private. The beds are soo comfortable. Jan has provided everything u could think of from wetsuits, and portacots to homemade jams, local photographic art and fresh coffee. This is the only B&B actually on the coast and we just loved finding this gem. Highly recommended!
