We stayed in one of the boat shed cabins for one night to rest on our journey home. What a surprise! Everything is new and spotlessly clean. We’ve never seen another facility like this in NZ.

The shared facilities are excellent. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. The adjoining lounge opens onto a deck and is comfortable. Each bathroom is in a private room with a shower and toilet. The showers operate on a timer (3 min limit) with one temperature. We found this ample time and the temperature was comfortable.

The cabins have a peep of the sea (depending on the motor home site occupancy) and the motor home sites have amazing sea views.

We went to Leigh Bar for dinner. It is just around the corner and I would highly recommend it. Richard is a friendly character and we enjoyed the fresh fish.

I stayed in one of the boatsheds and it was like a very cute tiny house. Hosts were very welcoming and the facilities excellent. Everything was spotlessly clean, the shared lounge had great styling and the equipment and range of dishes/crockery in the kitchen was huge.

These self contained units have everything you’ll need for a holiday stay in Leigh.
Clean, pretty, feels like a wee bach. There is no view though, despite the names of the units suggesting they’re seaside… they’re not, so don’t be expecting any sand and sea.

The boatyard cabin we had was clean and comfortable, and the shared washrooms and kitchen were fine, but they get a rating of 'chinzy' for having a 3 minute limit on a shower. Ridiculous! Being able to get clean is a basic human need and one of the basic things that people expect at any accommodation. 3 minutes is not nearly enough time to get the salt and sand off after a day at the beach, or the mud off after visiting Waipu caves, etc. And imagine a parent trying to get a young child clean in that time. I've stayed at a lot of places in New Zealand and it's not a usual thing to have shower limits. I wouldn't go back, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone because of the shower issue. If they remove those control boxes then it would be a good place to stay.

We stayed in the campervan park. Exceptionally helpful and friendly boking and greeting. Not busy and spacious grounds. Impeccably clean. The superlatives just keep being deserved for Leigh Central. Great views, over the water and setting sun too.
Kitchen was spotless, plenty of pots, cutlery, everything you could want to choose from.
Showers were free and provided 3 minutes of hot water - again impeccably clean as were the toilets.
Wifi zoomed in, value was great at $25 p.p. for the motorhome site.
Leigh is a great village and we cant wait to return to both Leigh and Leigh Central.

We stayed at the campground, which offers beautifully appointed modern and well equipped amenity space and cozy lounge- the nicest facilities we’ve seen yet at a campground in NZ! Washrooms/showers were very clean. Laundry facilities are also available on site. Customer service was excellent - hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The cabins looked really cute too. On a nice day you can see a beautiful view from the campground. Good local eateries located within walking distance and close by to diving/snorkelling sites. Also worth a visit if you’re in the area is Tāwharanui Regional Park, which has beautiful hikes and beaches.

We stayed in the Sun motel room while our parents stayed on a site in their motor home. We had a fantastic weekend with lots of places to walk. The view from Leigh Central is lovely. The room is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. Great decor and they have thought of everything you may need to make your stay enjoyable. The beds were great and we slept really well. My parents raved about the motor home facilities and said they were the best of all of the motor home venues they have stayed in. The hosts are really welcoming and friendly. Thanks for a great stay Jasmin.

We stayed here after the lockdown in our little caravan for a whole week as such a beautiful area we could then go off on our travels around which was wonderful.

Service in this place weather you come in a huge camper little caravan or mini bus is A+ everyone is treated like VIPS.

Thanks to Ian and Heather Alan and Jasmine
We will return.

I am a recurrent visitor to Leigh and was thoroughly impressed by by stay at Leigh Central Coastels - made me wonder why I have never stayed here in the past! Absolutely beautiful rooms that perfectly accommodated me and my partner. It was a bonus being able to walk to the dairy and pub for dinner. Can’t wait for our next stay!

Went here for granddaughters wedding. Fantastic venue, Stayed in Coastels motel unit 3, Not large but had all you need and done in a beach Bach style, Well done to whoever did this. Check in and check out easy as booking done online. Car park needs a tidy up, but don’t let this stop you from staying here, every thing else is excellent. Also has cabins and camper van site’s to rent. Recommend staying here.
