Sitting amongst miles of cross-country trails this three star hotel is ideally placed between Sweden and Norway’s great winter sports resorts. The bedrooms are spacious, modern and very Nordic in style. There is a delicious buffet breakfast to enjoy each morning and excellent food within the hotel restaurant. In the evenings you can relax in the comfort of the lovely Nordic style bar. With Scandinavian Mountains Airport (Sälen) Trysil just 20 minutes away and about 2 hours drive from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, the hotel is easily accessed both from Norway and abroad.

This is a small family run historical hotel with a in house restaurant, with cross-country tracks starting on the doorstep and with a 15-20 minutes drive to Trysil ski resort for alpine skiing. We stayed from Friday until Sunday. Our pre stay communication with the hotel was excellent, arranging for a late arrival on the Friday. The host family who run the hotel is welcoming, friendly and always available should you need anything. They are originally dutch but moved here a decade ago or so, so as Norwegian as can be. The interior of the hotel; the room (107), the restaurant, bar and lobby area are designed as a boutique hotel, in a rustic mountain/nature inspired design with a touch of vintage. However our bathroom (with shower, toiletries and dryer) was from the 70s. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage. There was also a small seating area in the room, a place to relax and unwind. Good to know: There's free wifi. The hotel was super clean. In fact, spotless. The daily room service was excellent as well, with not only beds made and fresh towels brought in - but also our room tidied. The breakfast was a slightly dull continental breakfast with everything you expect as well as pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs as hot options. We missed home baked buns and bread as well as local cheese and charcuterie. However for dinner we enjoyed the hotel's a'la carte menu, and chose a home cooked meal, with elk meatballs in brown goats cheese sauce and lingonberry jam. Super delicious! The restaurant prices are affordable and the wine list is also fine. Again, we would have wished to see some local brewed beer on tap. But all in all, the bar is inviting and the perfect place to end a lovely day with a night cap. We ended up chatting to the younger generation of the host family at the bar and had a lovely evening. Recommending trying the Irish Coffee. For a comfortable and relaxing stay in Trysil we would definitely stay again. Note: This is a quiet hotel with mostly families and few couples staying.

Room Tip: We heard the people above us walk in the morning. Perhaps worth asking for a room on the top floor.

Hotel was comfortable, spotless and hospitable. The room was simple but comfortable- small single bed, cupboard and walk in shower room/ en-suite. Dinner was enjoyable and breakfast was bountiful. WiFi worked well. If you run, bring trail shoes during the winter, the local routes are stunning. Would be happy to stay here again.

A very familiar hotel , which offers what you need to enjoy your ski vacation. Very nice breakfast with many options. The owners are very service minded and always willing to make your stay good. Hotel also offers dinners so you can enjoy some good food without need to travel far to have something to eat. Rooms are large with plenty of space, had a minor incindent with the shower at the room but nothing that actually disturbed my stay. Would return any time. Can only recommend this lovely hotel in located in the middle of Sälen (25km) and Trysil (25km).

Fantastic location, we wanted a real winter snowy experience and we got it! big time! The Hotel has a great atmosphere the staff are extreeeemly welcoming and friendly. My children were impressed that the staff knew there first names from day one. We stayed 5 days and did a whole range of snow based activities that the hotel organised for us. Absolutely brilliant, going back next year.
