This camp was a top little camp the owners were very friendly and helpful. The camp layout was great and the whole place was neat and tidy. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and plates and cutlery. And make sure you check out the signatures and messages on the walls. Great location and easy to get to with...

Alex and Mel were very helpful, explaining what to do in the area. We were upgraded to the self contained unit which was comfortable, spotless and spacious. The small kitchen was ample but they have a bigger communal one as well if you need a bigger oven. The bed was comfy and the shower was fantastic! We had a great...

We loved this campground! The family running it was super friendly and helpful. The play-things in the yard for the kids and the trampoline were a joy for our kids. True, the kitchen is very small and ventilation could be improved - so we ate in our campervan (it was very cold). Compared with many other campgrounds, the toilets/showers were...

The kitchen is very small and not well ventilated. I've buyed the wifi access (the man told me for 24 h) and I had access only for 20 minuts. Absolutly a fraud!! Also is a very small camping with limited places. The toilets are very far from everywhere. Don't recomend.

Great camper van stopover. Excellent amenties, with good supply shopping nearby. Beach right next door and not far to walk to boulders. Hampden has retained most of its early 1900's buildings and residences.

Came away from a 1 night stay here very disappointed with this campsite. The site has little or no security, so there is nothing to stop non-guests coming in during the night. The kitchen is far too small for the number of guests, which meant that people had to sit outside in the cold and damp. But the worst point...

Situated right by the river (heaps of wildlife!) and also right next to a great beach (for fishing etc), this campground was a joy to stay at. The (Swiss) managers were friendly and very helpful and also very informative, giving a lot of information on where to go and 'see the sights'. Hampden is just a great place to stay...

I was walking along the Moeraki beach from the boulders and was delighted to find the camping ground almost right on the beach. I booked into a cute wee caravan which wasn't much more than a backpacker bed. Even at 6'3" I had space left over on the caravan bed so was very happy. The lovely owners speak Swiss German...

Our studio room was large, extremely clean and comfortable. Being situated within a motor camp, the atmosphere was lovely when sitting outside. Situated right beside the beach and within a half hour walk to Moeraki Boulders. Moeraki Village is only about 3kms away. Staff were very friendly and obliging. Would highly recommend the studio rooms.

Stayed one night in studio (cabin), lovely, modern, clean, tidy, comfortable beds, quiet location even though full with holiday makers, quick stroll to lovely beach, excellent, friendly staff. Beautiful wee place!🤓

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a little, unique and typical Kiwi beach camping ground with lots of character. Relax in our scenic reserve to birdsong and the sound of the waves. A short walk along the beach will take you to the magnificent Moeraki Boulders. Explore the surroundings (yellow eyed penguins, dolphins, Shag Point Boulders, Macraes Gold Mine, Oamaru, Dunedin), eat out at one of the best local Seafood restaurants in New Zealand (Fleurs Place, 5km from the park) or hire a kayak to see the lagoon or find the dolphins in the bay. We have tent sites, powered sites, backpackers beds, cabins, selfcontained units and freestanding motel units. Bikers might want to relax a few days after (or before) the Alps to Ocean bike ride or the Otago Rail trail. We are proud to be a Kiwi Holiday Park. ... more   less
