Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

we had heard good things and weren't disappointed. The setting, the cottages and the shared dining spaces were all amazing. it felt like a quiet oasis. Make sure to allow enough time to enjoy the surroundings. The 20 minute bush walk leads to a great view over the harbour and we enjoyed hanging out in bean bags during the evening and enjoying back issues of nz geographic. We also appreciated some of the extra touches like the torches and the heated towel rail. Would definitely stay again

Room Tip: if you have a choice between the Pond or Brook cabin I would recommend the Pond one

The tree house nestles in natural bush behind the mangrove fringed edge of Hokianga Harbour with beautiful enhancements of additional landscaping over the years. It is close to the Hokianga ferry and the township of Kohukohu which has a pleasant pub but not a great deal else! There is a seductive sense of calm at the Tree House which makes you feel you had more time to extend your stay. There is a gorgeous nature trail around the property passing over a high point with great views over the harbour to Rawene.
Don't miss this gem if you are travelling through the Hokianga.

My sister and I stayed here for one night as part of our cycle ride. The treehouse was a fantastic find, such amazing surroundings as if we were staying in the treetops. Brilliant shared spaces with well equipped kitchen and great showers. Would definitely recommend coming here.

Great quality for a backpacker establishment. Very cosy cabin, well appointed kitchen, comfy relaxation area and stunning native bush surroundings. The nature walk is fun, though could be described as more nature than walk.

Spent my childhood in KohuKohu and have always wanted to go back and stay at the Tree House. Absolutely stunning accomodations. Clean, tidy, the hosts were knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend should you be travelling through the beauty Hokianga.

The tree house lodge is the perfect accommodation of you want a quiet stay. The lodge is in the heart of the forest and the sound is so calming. The lodge is perfect for solo travelers, as other guests are so nice and open. I would recommend it without hesitation !

This property is outside of Kohukohu and in an excellent location, hidden away in the trees. We stayed in a cabin which was lovely with a fab view from the bed. The cabins have their own outside area to sit. Everything is kept immaculately clean including the toilets, showers and kitchen. The kitchen/living area is of a good size and well equipped.
There is a lovely nature trail on the property which has stunning views at the top.
The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. We did a walk to Kohukohu and they recommended it, dropped us off and picked us up when we rang.
This place is excellent, would definitely stay again!

We LOVED to stay here. We stayed at the Pond Cabin and had our own terrace completely for ourselves right next to the pond. The garden is amazing and there are exotic fruit trees, beautiful trees, flowers, plants, bamboo and a lot of native stuff. We loved the smell here, ahhh it was so good. Would definitely stay here again if we are back in this area! :)

We called in here for one night after it started to rain and our plans for camping were looking unlikely. Within the hour we knew we had to stay another night, and then another. I could have spent a week here. Wonderful interesting town, close to the ferry to explore Rawene, nearby to Waipoura forest, friendly artist and green family and great rooms. Clean, flexible well equipped kitchen too. Good coffee in town, great banana chutney and local art gallery. And the trees are magnificent, as are the doves.
