Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the warm, hospitable staff. Loved the view from the Red Room overlooking the mountains. We awoke to the smell of delicious croissants daily and freshly brewed coffee. Castel del Monte is a great central location for exploring Abruzzo and all of its medieval villages. It's centrally located high up in the mountains and close to Campo Imperatore. The hiking is AMAZING !! The breakfast is included but dinner is available which also was delicious. The B&B is rustic and very charming as is this beautiful Village, listed as one of the top 100 most beautiful villages in Italy ! We will definitely be returning to the Locanda and the very gracious Cetra Family. Lastly, English is spoken by Marco who was extremely helpful in making suggestions for our day trips !!

From booking the inn to our stay, everything about this hotel was great! We were traveling Abruzzo, and booked this at the last minute. Our reservation via email was smooth. When we got there, Marco, the hotel owner, helped us with the luggage, and showed us to a beautiful room. Remember - there were two rooms at this inn, and the rooms were remodeled in a modern way but still keeping the quaintness to match the locale.
We also dined at this hotel, and Marco was a great host. We felt like we were at someone's home instead of at a hotel. Marco is very knowledgeable about the area, and talked to us about the history and things to see around Castel del Monte. He even suggested that we take a detour through Campo Imperetori, which turned to be one of the highlights of our trip in addition to being a beautiful place. After dinner, Marco volunteered to be our tour guide through the quaint town of Castel del Monte.
If we visit Abruzzo, we will stay here in a heartbeat. We not only recommend this inn for couples, but also suggest more people visit Castel del Monte, and support local family business like La Locanda delle Streghe. We can only imagine this being a great getwaway for people in Italy.

On the discover of Abruzzo, we stayed in this Inn for some nights. For us was a very unique experience! The bedrooms are very comfortable, warm, private restrooms with shower, complimentary kit like the best huge hotels. I really appreciate the typical Italian breakfast they did. The hosts are great: Marco was very nice accompanied us to visit Gran Sasso's Mountain, Campo Imperatore, the magical villages near Castel del Monte and the magnificent town of Sulmona. We had a great memory of our stay. We will go back soon!

This Inn is very nice, the view from our bedroom was great, comfortable bed and high quality service. Everything was clean, the complimentary service give you also the sleepers, the room was always warm. The typical Italian breakfast always fresh, good and large. Leave this place is a very regret.

This is a charming, family-run B&B, in a very small town in L'Aquila province. It has a fun witch, (Streghe), theme, and overall decor is lovely. There is also a tiny restaurant and the food was excellent, with choices of local dishes. The family does everything, and they were kind and extremely attentive. The owner made sure we enjoyed the area, and even provided some driving services. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.

This was a wonderful small B&B in a small mountain village in the Abruzzi section outside of L'Aquila, Italy. Marco was a great host, the food was superb as was the service. I highly recommend it, the rooms were nice and the place overall was interesting. A small inn with spectacular views of the mountains. The inn's wine was very good with a great label!!!! Thank you Marco... Next time we will bring you bagels!!!

Castel Del Monte is a small beautiful village in Abruzzo. The entire B&B is so charming. Our room and modern bathroom were so clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had lunch and dinner in their restaurant and the food was superb. Make sure you have the anti-pasta served with local meats and cheeses. The bean soups were like none we ever tasted before and were very delicious. Our breakfast included very tasty pastries, cookies, marmalades, and juices. Marco is the perfect host and speaks very good English. We were the only guests staying that evening and Marco offered to give us a walking tour of the town. It was pouring down rain, but he did not seem to mind. He knows all the history of the town and we found it all quite interesting. My husband and I plan to stay here again when we get back to Italy. Choose La Locanda Dell Streghe for a wonderful B&B experience. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Marco.

Castel del Monte is a small hill town in a beautiful mountain range in Abruzzo about a hour west of Pescara, Locanda delle Sreghe is a small but charming inn in the historic center. the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Marco and his mother Paola are gracious hosts and sever excellent food in there small restaurant. Most importantly, the reason I chose the area, was for hiking and the hiking was excellent thanks to my guide Bruno who was recommended by Marco.

We spent five nights at La Locanda delle Streghe in August 2012. It was a truly superb experience. We had the red room which was clean, cozy and practical. Good bathroom and a stunning view to the valley below. Friendly and very helpful English-speaking staff. We could choose between sweet or salty breakfast with many options. I completely echo the sentiments of the other guest comments. This place is AWESOME! I am so grateful I stumbled across this place when researching where to stay for our trip. We have family in the area, and I was wanting to research where to find them. Marco went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me find my relatives, and our nights at La Locanda were our most treasured of the entire Italy trip. Marco is wonderful; he's professional, helpful, and very kind. He is also VERY knowledgeable about the town's history and the history of the area in general. He was a great guide for us. He was great company during our trip, and I feel like we left with a new friend. The inn was marvelous. The room was exactly as I'd hoped - charming, comfortable, and warm! Everything was clean, and the bed was very comfortable and cozy. We had an extra single bed in the room for my son, and it was very convenient. The restaurant - my son's favorite in all of our Italy travels! We loved the lamb, the mozzarella and mushrooms, the wine, the cheese platter, the soups, the croissants, etc. We did not walk away from the table hungry any day. The village - stunning. It's quiet and mysterious all at once. I enjoyed so much looking at all of the different wooden doorways framed in stone and exploring the different sporti. The views from each side of the village reveal panoramic vistas like you see in postcards. Just a few minutes away is Rocca Calascio. Also nearby are the beautiful ups and downs of the Gran Sasso national park. When we visited in May, it was SNOWING here! I truly recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay in the Abruzzo area. The beauty of this place is unmeasurable and the town and inn have surely left us with very fond memories. I hope to return as soon as possible!
