The location is just about the best in the entire resort with a short walk through the garage from the boot room and you’re able to jump on your skis and slide down to the main ski area. Getting close coming back required a bit of speed and swerving to avoid the people standing at the bottom of the nursery slope, but you could get pretty close if you got it right.
The boot room has lockers for which you just pay a refundable deposit for the key and you can keep your gear in here overnight to get dry and warm.
There’s a great bar downstairs which serves tea & cakes between 16:30 & 17:30, oh and Guinness all night! The girls that work the bar are very friendly and helpful (as are all the staff).
We were half board and Breakfast & Dinner was plentiful and delicious. Served buffet style, it was varied and hot and extremely well cooked. The free wine with Dinner was also palatable and plentiful. Again the staff were beyond helpful and friendly, especially Salvatore who was very attentive.
We had a room with a balcony which was on the quite side of the hotel (slope side) and it was great, big with English TV for after the Après-ski.
All of the staff were unbelievably friendly and nothing was too much trouble, happy to help in every way.
The only negative for us was the lack of a kettle in the room to make our own tea, but that was a minor thing and we soon got over it.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
The staff and management were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the hotel is spotless.
Location is perfect, as you can ski in/out, just head out of the boot room and your at the slopes with access to lifts. The hotel is situated on the main street with easy access to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. There are also a number of ski schools close by.
The food in the hotel was fantastic. It’s a buffet for both breakfast and dinner with the addition of wine being included with dinner. There’s plenty of choice of both hot and cold dishes with items being replenished frequently . All the food was well presented and extremely tasty. You are allocated the same table for all your meals and we found this to be useful.
We had a great time on our holiday and will definitely return to Hotel Du Col next year.
The staff bent over backwards to make our stay perfect.
My son was staying 2 miles away and the reception staff arranged transfers both in the morning and evening .
They also arranged for my son to have breakfast and dinners with our party at a very reasonable rate.
The food here is fantastic and the restaurant and bar staff are friendly and efficient.
The location is amazing for a ski trip with hire shops and lifts all very accessible.
I will defiantly book here again and will look forward to my next stay
The facilities are also very good. Big spacious rooms, modern bathrooms, flat screen TV. The boot room is a 20 meter walk to the slopes so it's pretty much ski-in, ski-out.
Food and complimentary wine in the restaurant was plentiful and of a good quality. I liked the fact you had the same table every day so you weren't fighting for space or having to wait for the tables to be cleaned.
I wont be skiing in Sestriere again due to the conditions being poor on the two occasions but would recommend this hotel.
Thanks for a great stay.
Seb and the gang.
The rooms are lovely and modern, with generous sized balconies. We had a balcony overlooking the slopes that was so lovely to sit out in the morning and watch the resort set up for the day. It’s also great for looking out to see the conditions. There is no kettle in the room which would have been appreciated, especially to makes flasks of hot drinks for the days skiing.
The shower was one of the best things about this hotel. It was so powerful and hot that was amazing after skiing. Often hotel showers lack power but this one was incredible.
The restaurant was great. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. You get assigned a table to use for the week which is great to know you don’t need to find a table every time you go in. Breakfast was 7:30-9:30am and was a lovely selection. Every day there is scrambled egg, bacon, sausage (hot dog style) and mushrooms. Lots of breads, yogurts, cakes, fruit, cold meats & cheeses etc.
Dinner is 7:30-9:30pm which was way too late for us and could imagine this being an issue for families with young children. We were more than ready to be tucked up in bed by 8pm after long days skiing so would have preferred dinner to start around 6. The food was really great, with a wide variety. There was always a pasta dish and pizza, soup, salads, meats and then meat dishes with sides such as cauliflower cheese and mash potato. Desserts comes out later which we didn’t realise until our 3rd night as we were eating dinner at 7:30pm and then quickly going up to go to bed. I believe desserts come out around 8:30pm which is just too late for us. I wish everything was out at the same time. We don’t drink wine but for those that did they had jugs full on the table and made an effort to remember what wine you prefer. After our first night they realised we didn’t drink and we had jugs of water.
The bar downstairs was a lovely atmosphere with people playing card games and drinking with great music and it was always busy. Afternoon tea was served in here from 4:30pm every day, which was really lovely to have after coming in from skiing and having a quick shower before heading down to have a cake and tea. This was especially appreciated considering dinner didn’t start until 7:30pm.
Overall we would definitely stay here again, purely due to the great location and the modern rooms. Overall the food was one of the best we have had at a hotel abroad.
Location can't be faulted, less than 30 seconds walk from the heated boot room on the lower floor to the slope.
The rooms have been upgraded recently, it all felt very new, lotd of white wood, plenty of space and lovely view of slopes , see photo. Little extras such as TV having BBC and a UK socket were appreciated. No kettle though, we took our own.
Staff in restaurant were very attentive and couldn't do enough. Out table neighbours were often late for breakfast but they would make them fresh eggs and cappuccinos.
"No moquette anywhere so good for people with allergies I would recommend the rooms on the mountain side"Read full review
"Great location right in the middle of the town, with direct access to the slopes . Avoid Igloo bar, rip off for mediocre food"Read full review
"Avoid room facing street as noisy. Mountain rooms are larger and pleasant. Opposite entrance excellent ski service shop 5 euro wax/edges."Read full review
