The plus points:-
Rooms warm and comfortable, not plush or roomy but we all slept well and it was quiet( we were on the 6th floor)
Buffet brilliant, tasty and good choice. Excellent when top you have young hungry kids and you don’t want to traipse about looking for somewhere to eat and having to wait for food.
Mini club took kids to ski school and collected and took for lunch which gave us more time on the slopes knowing they were safe and in good hands.
Ski hire and locker room, great service. Locker room quite spacious.
Great location to slopes. Small walk but if your fit enough to ski all day, not a problem
Most staff warm and friendly
Evening entertainment
Beauty centre great sauna and massages
Suggested changes:-
More English speaking staff. Very hard sorting things out with a language barrier. I.e. ski lessons, type of massage I wanted (it was my birthday and although I had a great massage and they offered several different ones they didn’t ask me which one I wanted and not sure she understood what I wanted and afterwards just walked out with no words)
Mr angry waiter in the restaurant insisted we signed for any water we had with the meal even though it came from the tap (we didn’t have to pay for it at breakfast) we hadn’t been told we had to pay for water and questioned it at the end but still had to pay for it. This particular waiter was very intimidating and hovered around the tables to whip your plate away sometimes before you’d even finished eating. I found this very uncomfortable. I questioned - very angry response!
Rooms could do with tea/coffee making facilities.
Ski lessons booked at hotel. Beware if you have a 3 hour lesson booked it takes about an hour to get everyone together and get over to the nursery slopes. I had one Grouo lesson with 10 people but not sure it was great value for money.
WiFi in rooms would be a great benefit
Sort these small things out and I’d say it would be perfect.
I would recommend though and definitely would go back again.
The hotel offers activities but not if you don't ask, you need to find out everything on your own. the rooms are a bit basic but offers what is needed even though its pricey for what you get. €220 a night for a double room with breakfast when we stayed is a bit much for what you get. And do notice that wifi isnt available in the rooms, something that I thought every 3 star hotel in a mayor ski resort had in 2022.
In short, the correct word for the hotel is basic, the only 5+ would be the location, 200m and some steps from the lift and the gondola to Sauze d'Oulx.
Avoid Rooms 150 -155 and same numbers on 2 and 3 they are right under the loading bay facing the bins so you get the Laundry man arrive at 5AM the Delivery Man at 6AM and finally the bins emptied at 7AM.
You can only use WIFI in reception.
Our room smelt of cigarette smoke and damp there was also a inch of dust under the bed.
for 480 Euros for 3 nights expected a little better
Buffet food was good enough with plenty of choice, although the same most days. Beds were ok, although several bunks missing struts and a fair amount of broken plugs and damage in rooms.
Walls very thin and could hear everything through them. Some spooky parts to the hotel like the “disco room” which looks totally abandoned and not used as a junk store- probs should lock some areas no used!
Cleaners propped doors open with towels and then left them open when they left. Our group had €20 taken from a room and balcony door left wide open having smoked 2x cigarettes on it. Hotel denied this was the cleaners despite us seeing them smoking elsewhere in hotel.
Key bowl system for school groups on reception is not secure or safe- reception staff don’t know who’s from what school, so you could help yourself to whoever’s keys you wanted! Our school was sharing with another- utterly ridiculous!
Ski fit could do with replacing the awful woman down there. She was rude, arrogant and seemed to take pleasure in upsetting children and other hotel guests. Skis were old, battered, blunt and broken. Poles and bindings were also needing replacing. Ski store rooms were not secure and too easy for other groups to help themselves to our kit.
Location to slopes was fine and could be a great hotel with some money thrown at it and some new staff.
The hotel staff are rude and miserable. They make it seem like every request is a big effort for them to do. They also smoke in the stairwells and nearby, so lots of the hotel smelt of smoke.
The hotel itself is very dated, the rooms need a refurb, the lifts are ancient, and the Wi-Fi is non-existent.
I thought I got ill from over skiing but seeing other reviews I see other people got ill from the hotel food. The breakfast was disappointing, mostly cold, even when fresh into the dining room.
A few positives; the dinner was generally nice, the location to the slopes is great, shower pressure and temperature was nice after a day skiing.
I would avoid coming back though. Even if this was a 7 star hotel in Paradise the staff will make sure your stay is awful.
The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the reception staff went out of their way to help us with booking / changing airport transfers and Covid tests.
The rooms were very clean and provided plenty of space for our family of 4.
The food was very good and they put on a lovely set meal for NYE which we weren’t expecting.
The only negative I can think of is the lack of ski boot warmers in the locker facility.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
If you had a 4 person room, with two doubles, you wouldn't even be able to open the balcony door, without completely folding up the beds. WiFi is quite slow, but is expected in such a big hotel. The lifts were so slow. If you accidentally left your room without the key, you would have to go down to reception to get a spare key, which they weren't happy at all about. The staff were kind and spoke good English. Stairways absolutely stinking, Cleaners smoked constantly. Cigarette butts everywhere, some sort of brown liquid mixed with cigarettes, that from previous reviews has been there for quite some time. Short walk from the slopes, but had to go up and down some awful stairs. Went with my school so don't really know if this applies to everybody, No lockers, so had to keep poles, hats and boots upstairs in our rooms which wasn't very easy, when the lifts were so slow. There were 7 floors in each tower and 9 rooms in each but only 2 lifts. when you are all coming back from, dinner, skiing, entertainment so not very ideal. Don't think this should be a 3 star hotel
The ski/board storage is without heating and without boot dryers. Which is very very annoying. They tell you to take your boots up to the room. Where they don't dry either. They charge extra for ski/boot storage
The beds are old and you tend to sink in. Pillows are good though.
The cleanliness can be better as well. For instance, there is fungus in the shower and in the bathroom ventilation.
