Stayed with a group of 8 friends and we all had a wonderful weeks stay in hotel Martin in January 2020.

Breakfast was continental served as a generous buffet and dinner very generous 4 course meal served by really friendly team. We had a vegan and 2 vegetarians in group and they were very well catered for with special milk, vegan croissant and veggie burgers etc. Also, you got afternoon tea with sweet and savoury snacks each afternoon into evening.

Rooms are bigger than I expected after reading some other reviews and cleaned everyday. Really nice shower too! Typical ski hotel decor. Lounge has comfy chairs and some tables with a log fire.

In terms of location this is realistically a 10 min walk in ski boots to lift as it is quite a hill (but doable) however you can pay €5 euros and get a lift in a taxi each morning and evening to the lift which takes a minute.

Gabrielle is very friendly, as are his wider team, and provided us a couple of lifts into town. Walk to town is 25 uphill into town and about 15 back as downhill so more than doable for evening out.

There is a ski hire shop 1 min walk away and a little spa just up the hill but you do need to book.

Overall really great value for money and all the 5* reviews are very well deserved.

We couldn’t recommend Hotel Martin more! An amazing stay - the photos don’t do it justice. Rooms are big, cleaned everyday, and the food is amazing. There is no way you could go hungry here! Continental breakfast and a 4 course dinner with extra servings always offered! Tea and sweet and savoury treats for after skiing in the afternoons.
Gabrielle and his team are so accommodating with a minibus service to and from the nearby lift if you didn’t want to walk.
Sauze is a 20 min walk uphill/10 min downhill with a bus service if you didn’t want to tackle the steep hill! Crystal offer plenty of activities for the evenings with a brilliant pub crawl!
This lovely hotel had a ‘chalet feel’ which meant we could really mix with the other guests and the lounge area with the wonderful fire was a great location to watch both the 6 Nation games that were on during our stay!
Skiing in Sauze was brilliant despite one day of high winds and an early closure of lifts. Sestriere, SansSicario and Montgenèvre are good skiing days out too.
Thank you Gabrielle and team for a fantastic holiday!

We’ve come to the end of a fantastic 7 night stay at Hotel Martin and couldn’t recommend this place enough. There were 8 of us in our group. Staff are very accommodating and provided us with lifts in to the main town of Sauze for no extra cost. You can also pay a very inexpensive €5 for a ride to the chair lift and back every day.
You’ll never go hungry at this place either, with a continental breakfast buffet, afternoon tea and a more than substantial, four course meal provided in the cost. The hotel is also very clean and rooms are comfortable. Overall excellent value for money!

This hotel was very homely, very welcoming and perfect for couples, families and small groups. Very professional and friendly staff who go above and beyond, plenty of food and very good value for money. The rooms were spotless, very clean and warm. It is 2 minutes from a ski hire shop, and 5 minutes from the ski lift (although a shuttle service is provided for just 5 euros for the whole week!) and we had a really great time.

This year was our third visit to the Hotel Martin and it will be hard to find another hotel with such a cozy feel which is so easily accessible for the slopes. The meals are excellent and plentiful. The owners will take you to the lifts (approx 200m away) and bring you home in the afternoon in the hotel minibus for a very small fee. They will also take groups of 8 to and return you from the Montgenevre ski area by minibus for a very small fee (covered for 1 day with weeks area ski pass). Nothing is too much trouble. A lovely family run hotel more like a chalet with a great log burner, bar and afternoon tea. Perfect after a long day on the piste. The boot room has boot warmers and ample room for everyone kit. We will return again.

Welcoming & homely, we were extremely well looked after & fed! One of our group has certain dietary requirements which were very thoughtfully catered for. The food was excellent & the portions HUGE! The New Year Gala Dinner was epic & nearly beat us, thankfully we are big eaters! Prosecco to see the New Year in followed by fantastic fireworks on the driveway.
Our family room was actually 2 large rooms with a balcony sharing a bathroom which was perfect as we were sharing with our 30 year old son!
Afternoon tea served daily by the log burner just in case you can’t make it to the 4 course dinner!
Two of our group were catching a train from Oulx & were very kindly given a lift down the valley.
Should we return to ski at Sauze we will be staying at the Hotel Martin! Thank you to all there for your hospitality!

Hotel Martin is a lovely family run hotel by Gabriel and his family and lovely staff, Maria and Violet are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble, rooms are pleasantly decorated and very warm, a beautiful roaring fire in the lounge/ bar area with games a huge TV with all channels to keep you entertained, the 4 course evening meals are delicious, and although I don't eat meat, I was catered to wonderfully, we had to cut short our holiday due to a ski accident, and Gabriel helped out immensely, with a trip to the medical center and home.
The hotel offers a ski bus to the lifts in the town, clothes, in the morning and afternoon for a nominal fee, and also offer trips to Montgenevre, (for a fee).
I would highly recommend this hotel, even though it is a little out of town, but the ski lift jouvenceaux is just a short walk up the hill, it caters for couples of all ages and all male parties, there were 3 parties on this trip (all well behaved, I must add), and we will definitely come back again, even for a long weekend.

Stayed here for New Year week skiing. The food was so delicious and very plentiful. Too much to eat all the courses provided. The staff are very helpful, friendly and courteous. They provide a van to take you to the lift for 10 Euros each a week. Well worth it as the walk is strenuous. They also gave us a lift into Sauze twice which was much appreciated. The rooms, dining room and lounge/bar area are spotlessly clean. There are games and cards available. The log fire creates a warm and friendly atmosphere enabling you to chat to other holidaymakers. The shower was always hot with good pressure. There is no lift so be aware you might be on the 3rd floor and have to carry luggage etc. I would recommend this hotel very much. Down side is the walk into Sauze centre. It is a good 15 minute walk up a very steep hill. Walking back obviously much easier. Recommended hotel.

Having stayed here about 4 years ago, we had no qualms about making a last minute booking with Crystal to stay over Christmas after a planned skiing holiday in France was cancelled. Gabriele and his staff could not have been more welcoming and the hotel was just as good - if not better, than we remember. The hotel is sited in a quiet area about 15 mins walk downhill from the centre of Sauze d'Oulx, however the hotel provides a shuttle bus to/from the slopes each day for 10 euros per person. As in most ski resorts hotels, the bedrooms are relatively compact however there is lots of space downstairs to relax, enjoy a well earned drink and to play games. The food was excellent - in particular the 4 course evening meals. During our stay, the free wifi was only available downstairs but was in the process of being upgraded. We would not hesitate to stay again when we next come to Sauze.

My partner & I traveled here on a skiing holiday, on arrival we found the Gabrielle & the family very warm & welcoming with complimentary snacks on hand & plenty for all.
Our room was well decorated comfortable & although not over the top in luxury provided a very comfortable resting place.
Sadly my partner was injured on our first day skiing & this is where Gabrielle & his staff really showed a genuine warmth & concern for there guests. they provided advice, transport, helped with translations & made us feel looked after.
The food here is top draw, plenty of it & always varied,
The bar area is a great social area, the bar is reasonably priced.
This place is a gem, not to be overlooked because of it,s location.
