Parco Cavalonga is a magical place to live in the elegant and authentic atmosphere of the Sicilian countryside. It is set in a valley of century-old olive and carob trees, criss-crossed by the typical low dry walls. It has rooms, suites and 2 magnificent pools carved out of the local rocks. It's located near Castello di Donnafugata, near Ragusa Ibla and beautiful baroque historical towns. Seaside is 10 km away.

We stayed in Apartment-suite Ibla. The apartment is big, bright, and nicely renovated. The bathrooms work well, as does the AC. The park is wonderful, a perfect (in my opinion) combination of curated and wild. The two swimming pools are well maintained (though not new), have great views, and weren't ever too busy during our stay. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
The shortcomings all relate to the apartment. The cooking hob is ancient; four slow hot plates with four knobs - that's it. No safety lights to warn that the plates are hot. No drawing to show which knob goes with which plate, or which way the knob needs to be turned. There is no microwave. There is only one shelf to store the food. In summary, the kitchen is barely usable.
In the living room, there are no cabinets. After asking, we were given a plastic table to put in a corner, which did the trick. The drying rack for the laundry is at small as it gets and certainly not sufficient for 6 people. Good thing clothing dries very quickly at 30C+!
In summary, the place is beautiful and the expensive bits are all there: large apartment, AC, swimming pools, park. It just needs some additional work and money to go up a notch.
Right now it is between 3 and 4 starts but I give it 4 in the hope they will be addressed soon (I emailed all of these points to the hotel). I would probably go back but not a sure thing.

Stayed in Relais Parco Cavalonga for 3 nights during our holiday in Sicily.
The hotel is built on a very large domain, with private parking. The domain is split in different levels. The staff was very welcoming and very pleasant.

The view from our room overlooking the scenery of the environment was very nice. We saw cows roaming the fields each morning which was a fun detail.
The room itself was very spacious with a decent sized bathroom and very pleasant large shower. However, our room did not have airconditioning. As we were here early May, that wasn't really an issue during this time of year, but I can imagine it getting very warm during the summer season. The beds were quite hard as well.

We had dinner our first evening in the hotel. The food was not bad but also not memorable. We found the dining experience a little bit awkward as there were 2 other sets of people having the dinner and the 3 tables were placed just a few centimeters from each other with almost no room in between, even though there was an entire dining area available. We are simply used to having a bit more space/privacy around our table.

Breakfast was decent, with fresh cold cuts, different cheeses and a lot of sweet bread, cookie or cake options. Warm drinks were freshly prepared for you and served to the table.

We went to the pool area once, but unfortunately the weather and water temperature was a bit too chilly to swim. The pool was large and nice though, with a view overlooking the domain. I can imagine it being very pleasant to swim here during the warm summer months!
It was of course off-season but some small details could use a bit of tidying (loose outdoor lamps, weeds on the paths, loose direction arrow)

The hotel is incredibly quiet and offers peace and relaxation. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We were there with a child and it was ideal for us. Two pools to choose from and the sea just a few kilometers away. It was clean, the breakfast was plentiful and very good. Dinner is highly recommended, but as is usual in southern countries, it is served late. That was too late for our child, so we brought dinner with us and were given cutlery and plates so that we could eat outside. Great service

We had reserved apartment ‘Kamarina’ and is was nice. 3 rooms an 3 bathrooms and a wonderful view. Unfortunately we had a lot of issues with the aircon that had to be repaired almost every day (day temp = 38 c…) Also hot water was on/off and wifi only worked in the reception area of the hotel. Nice pools, friendly staff but it seems Covid stopped investments. Plants, pool maintenance, general garden maintenance etc was not a topic. Result - very nice place and fine apartment but issues were too many for a 4 star hotel. Invest a bit more and increase staff by 1-2 persons would make a huge diff

We had quite high expectations of this accommodation based on the website and a number of reviews. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be mediocre for us. We could enter our apartment at 14:00, but on arrival we had to wait 40 minutes. In terms of amenities, a number of things were disappointing in the beginning, such as the kitchen that had no tea towel / towel / dish towel, shower drain clogged and shower door from rebate, wifi was moderate somewhat reception in living room but not at the pool or bedrooms. We used dinner in the evening and that was moderate to correct, we were the only guests who ate there, which honestly did not contribute to the whole experience. The apartment lacked a sun lounger for the third person and the parasol was also broken. Pool water around out of murky with a green deposit on the edge. The quality of the light chairs in the pool was disappointing; this had already been noted in previous reviews, but apparently that is not taken up. In addition, a lot of nuisance from flying, of course this is difficult to influence by the management when you stay in the countryside. In addition, we have seen a large rat walking around 19:00 in the evening. Unfortunately we were not lucky, because there was also a power failure and complete water cut off for more than twelve hours, because of which we have the holiday cut short because of not being able to flush the toilet and no shower water. There are undoubtedly reasons why situations like this can occur in local infrastructure. What the total lacked is pro-activity and communication from management. There was no proactive communication or solutions at all. We had to ask for bottled water and updates about water ourselves. Our impression is that water tanks do not adequately anticipate these kinds of conditions. All in all, it seems to lack passion and commitment to the staff and that is not what you would expect from a 4 star resort.

Even on my second holiday in 5 years in this hotel, I can only say that it was EXCELLENTLY GOOD.
- Food a 10+
(Very varied and very fine)
- Staff 10+
(Very friendly and helpful)
- Accommodation 10+
(Very idyllic location, perfect)
- Cleanliness 10+
(We left a mess every day, but it was always perfectly tidied up in the evening, even our daughter's toiletries were tidied up very nicely)
- Friendliness 10+
(Despite language problems on my part, questions were always answered very nicely)
- Ambience 10+
(Very quiet complex, beautiful rooms, you immediately feel at home)

That's how I imagine holidays and vacations to be.

Beautiful location with very high potential but neglected in every respect. Little care of the gardens and common areas, little attention towards customers, I saw girls at the reception addressing guests in a very rude way.
Breakfast was miserable and always the same in which the things left over for days were repeated. Not 4 stars at all.

We were very disappointed with this “hotel” which is not at all worth its standard.
It is already in a remote corner but it would have been okay if the service and places would have been up to par.
We already arrived, we had reserved a double room but to our great surprise we were given a room with two separate single beds (we were a couple). After thinking about it with the hostess, she sends us off, telling us that there's nothing else... besides, the lady at reception wasn't too pleasant... too bad.
As for food, the big joke was an almost non-existent breakfast: there was almost no choice and only a very small buffet. For the evening, menu at €32 imposed without drinks, it's a shame we don't have the choice.
And finally, the hotel is not very well maintained, especially on the pool/outdoor side.
The water in the pool was dirty even though the day we arrived it was supposedly closed for cleaning and once there, there was nothing, bar closed, leaves everywhere and dirty floor.

Otherwise on the positive side, the setting is pretty, in the countryside with pretty flowers everywhere.
The bedding is comfortable.

I therefore do not recommend this place or for only 1/2 nights.

We had higher expectations seeing the photos in the various sites but in the end it was a bit disappointing. The pools are neglected as deckchairs and umbrellas are all in poor condition. Overall the structure seems a bit abandoned. Too bad because it could give much more. Very kind and helpful staff who make up for these shortcomings.
