My sister and I just stayed one night in a female only room. The room and bathroom was very clean and spacious. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and speak really good English. The restaurant area downstairs is a lovely place to sit and do some work if needed or have a drink or coffee. Located right near the train station, with the trains to Venice island only taking 10/15 minutes, it’s a great place to stay and explore Venice.

A great place to stay if visiting Venice. Right next door to train station and the bus stop. The hostel itself also has a lot of ammenities that we found very useful. For instance, their bar, their wifi and their kitchen!
Everything was clean, organised and safe. We had no issues with our room or with the lockers — everything was great!

Not impressed at all with this hotel. We had stayed at the one in Bordeaux a few months ago which was better and cheaper. Only good thing is it’s located next to the station and it’s new. The atmosphere in the lobby is terrible. There are not as many games for kids and the ones available are more expensive. The eating area and kitchen area are tiny. Our 4 bunker room was very depressing. It was bigger than a one bed apartment which could be seen as an advantage but when the only thing inside is 4 very uncomfortable bunk beds and a table then it becomes depressing. I think Meininger got this hotel totally wrong. It is not for kids or for adults. There is no TV in bedrooms with more than 2 beds which is absolutely shocking making the apartment even more unwelcoming. The train runs past your windows. Literally underneath the rooms so forget sleeping after 6 am. It would be ok to stay for a night but anything after that you’ll need a physio for your back. If you’re are making hotels based on children’s needs you should expect the children to show up with their parents so beds that are more uncomfortable than sleeping bags is totally disrespectful to the adults. They had also a stupid rule that didn’t apply in France which is no wine to be brought from outside even to be consumed in the terrible apartments. We buy coffee, breakfast, wine and drinks from you everyday and now you expect us for the rest of our stay which is a whole week to carry on drinking the one wine that you have which is of bad quality for the rest of our stay when we are in one of the worlds best wine regions. Would definitely ask anyone to stay away with or without kids. It’s is not cheap and is not welcoming.

Not so good. Unfortunately we could not check-in before 3pm although the room was already available however not according to the standard of the staff.... worse thing is we could not even have a shower prior to 3pm either, although there is a guest shower, without paying an extra fee. And clearly not an option to question such policy with the staff...
We stayed in the Meininger in Amsterdam and clearly service was of a different Level.

The hotel overall is fine, but our experience was terrible.
It did not start well, as we booked a double room and due to hotel overbooking the only room available was a 6-people room with 2 bunk beds and 2 individual beds. We accepted it, as we would have the room just for ourselves, but it was not what we had booked.
However, the worst part of our stay were the inconceivable, unbelievable and disrespectful episodes that took place on the day of the check-out. As we returned to our room from the breakfast, we found the cleaning team inside our room, although we had the "do not disturb" sign on the outside of our door! It was before 10am and the check out was only at 11am! All our personal belongings (passports, computers, phones, rings, etc.) were not properly and safely stored (as we were not expecting anyone to enter our room!!) and the used and wet towels were put by the cleaning lady over my open luggage, directly on my clothes, in a scenario of total disregard for our privacy and complete disrespect!
After we complained, the cleaning team left, but an even more surreal episode happened 5 minutes later: While we were inside the room, still in total disbelief about what had just happened, one of the cleaning ladies entered the room again, without even knocking on the door, and stayed there for at least one minute, while we were repeatedly telling her to leave the entire time!!! After that, she refused to call her supervisor, despite we asked her multiple times and in multiple languages! Totally unacceptable behavior!
Finally, we explained all this episode to the reception employees, that did nothing more than apologize and move on. Unacceptable image that Meininger leaves for its guests.

The global hotel chain company could have helped resolve a silly mistake but took the money instead.
A week after booking I was double checking my reservations and realised I'd booked for the right date but the wrong month accidentally and must have gone a month too far on the toggle. I politely explained and asked to swap it, but they were very corporate by email, zero flex because I didn't book a 'flexible reservation'. I understand if it's changing for the sake of changing and wouldn't expect a refund if I couldn't go, but zero flex to correct an silly error is pretty harsh and over 100 euros down the drain and into their big company's pocket. There's no one you can speak to on the phone, so it's just impersonal emails. Could have been a customer for life, but I won't be booking or staying at this chain again.

Unfortunately, I encountered several issues related to administrative services. Firstly, I was denied access to my room as early as 10 a.m., despite the stated check-out time being 11 a.m. It is obvious they do this to force you out of your room before the check in time. This caused inconvenience and frustration during my stay for peculiar reasons. Additionally, the overall impression I received was that the focus was more on revenue rather than on providing quality service that has already been paid for.

Laughably poor service from the inept Sergio and his ludicrously stupid companions. In addition the hostel is located in probably the most dangerous area in the whole of Italy. The rooms themselves are occupied by clandestine immigrants with the full knowledge of the manager of the edifice who I was told was called Roberta Melonista!

Great hostel. It has a well equipped kitchen, clean rooms, friendly staff and great location close to the train station. Met some lovely people and had a great time. There's a social area for anyone to use. Would recommend if you're ever in venice.
