Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The A&o Venezia Mestre is often praised for its prime location near the train station, making it a cost-effective base for exploring Venice. However, some guests have called out the hostel for its on-site prices, finding the bar and breakfast to be pricey. While the atmosphere is lively, complete with social events like karaoke, the noise level and lack of amenities have been points of contention. Room experiences vary; guests appreciate the daily housekeeping but note that the rooms could benefit from better maintenance and more furniture. The quality of service and staff professionalism also receive mixed reviews, impacting the overall experience for some visitors.

Stayed here for 9 nights during Christmas, the room was dirty, there were black hairs on the bidet which stayed there the whole time, so obviously they never cleaned it, the walls were dirty and so was the bathroom floor, the room was big and could of been a much better stay if they cleaned, I do not think they even cleaned before we arrived.
Breakfast was good if you could find someone at the egg station we had to ask every morning where he was. The front desk were nice, the guy in the breakfast room was very nice we chatted with him every morning. The area was okay, if you go to Mestre center it is quite lovely, we found cheaper and better places to eat in Mestre, Venice is a rip off for food, unless you know where to eat, we did not.., until the third day or so

What to say, location is very convenient to Mestre train station where you can get a train to Venezia every 5 mins for little money. Room are basic and I dare to say even too basic for what you pay. It is like they could give you better service for the money but they prefer not. Service is very friendly but understaffed. But the most terrible thing is breakfast that was charged at EUR9 each, a price that will allow you a great breakfast in any Italian Bar so not to be considered 'low cost'.Also breakfast was understaffed with only one girl having to serve 40 people on top of managing the kitchens and clearly not able to cope i.e. lot of dirty plates and not able to replace empty food trays so we were not even able to have what we wanted. I understand the concept but it it really pulled to the limit of decency....I would not return

Good location
Big spacious room which is very confortable
But beds are not clean and walls are dirty.
The front of the hotel in the lobby is verry dirty with trash on the floor and on the tables.
Good money value.
An extra 3.5euros for bed sheets and 2e for a towel was frustrating

I had a good experience here, the staff were all great and you can buy travel passes at reception. There’s a big lobby and the place looks lovely for a hostel. It’s situated between a few hotels so feels safe enough to walk, there is a really good sandwich cafe opposite. The bus stop is just outside and the main bus station is just 5 mins walk next to the main train station which is one stop from Venice and cost 1.50 euros. I stayed in a private twin room and the room was clean and basic, there is a tiny hanging space and big built cupboards, a decent size bathroom with hand wash and shower gel and hair dryer. The bed mattress was a hard form with very thin sheets, towels are provided and house keeping emptied the bin every day. There is karaoke night on Wednesday that I saw. Breakfast is on the 1st floor and was basic but enough to keep you going, they only have hard boiled eggs, lots of bread, a cute little pancake machine. Travelling by train was a lot cheaper then getting the water buses. The water buses charges 9.50 euros for 75 mins. From Mestre you can travel to Padua which is a lovely town and only cost 3.50 euros, a day trip there is recommended. Train also go to Verona. There is a car park at the hostel. There is no ironing board and no iron in the room. The shower had a body and hair wash but I only used it to wash my body, it didn’t look to good to wash my fizzy hair! The pillow was lumpy and soft and a big square shape which I found weird.

The hotel is basically new, very close to both the train and bus stations so getting to Venice in less than 20 mins. Personnel is friendly and ready to accommodate any request. In addition, they also have a laundromat and kitchen that can be used by guests. Overall, great value for money and would totally stay there again.

I don’t recommend this place. The room was dirty, and the shower had a lot of fungi inside. The breakfast is so expensive (9.99€), for just some cheese, bread, and ham.
They let enter whoever guy at night to your room, just for sleeping a couple of hours. In my case, a guy entered at 3am, and left 2 hours after; and at the morning, I noticed he stole me a power bank I had charging at the desk.
By the other side, the beds are not ready when you arrive. You need to make your bed at your own, which causes a lot of noise and disturbance for those arriving after 12:00 a.m.

My family and I came and we were prevented from receiving rooms from 3 pm to 9 pm after 8 hours of travel because my young child had a corona test 3 hours left and we searched the entire city and did not find any open place because it was Sunday and everyone was closed until now We found the airport and did the test there, and when we received the room after a whole day's trouble, the room was very filthy and very dirty and no one cleaned it. A kind of flexibility, understanding and respect in dealing with the guest. It is indeed the worst hotel for the year 2021

This is the place to be if you want to avoid paying for expensive accommodation in Venice itself. This Hostel is only a 15 minute bus-ride away from Venice. The bus stop is right behind the hostel. However, sky-high prices at the bar (€6-7 for a beer/cocktail) are not in line with what you'd expect from a hostel that is mainly frequented by frugal backpackers and families with kids. Also, beware of the not so friendly service staff at the breakfast station which is hawkishly controlling guests' credentials and aggressively instruct you how to clean your plates. A&O Budapest and Prague were much friendlier and laid back.

My staying was longer than average so I had time to observe my surroundings. First of all I really liked the daily cleaning because I believe that it is very important thing to do for general health when you are staying crowded place. I was content with the room however charge stations were not functioning most of the time or there were no adequate socket around the beds or in the room. Last thing I think breakfast price is little bit too much especially when you are vegan/vegetarian. I would like to see at least 1 vegan cheese or any other vegan options. There were a vegan milk but for the cereals there weren't ingredients part so I wasn't sure is it vegan or not. Overall the staying was okay and my rating of this property is 'very good'.

Hello Laura Nevenka Tapia Pérez, I am not sure about a hair dryer. I think there was one in room. On arrival and when u vacant a room you can use shared store room - key is at reception desk.

Hi. There are two busses you can take .. ATVO Express bus to Mestre takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the airport or the ACTV bus line no. 15, this bus has multiple stops, approximately 30 minutes. Final bus stop is at the Mestre station, the direction the bus stopped, walk a further 3 - 5 minutes, road makes a slight curve, hotel just ahead. Line 15 passes the bus stop opposite the hotel as well, you will however have to wait until it starts the route again after the journey from the airport. Q2 - no idea. ... enjoy ...
